Neutrino physics in slowly rotating black hole spacetime and nonlinear electrodynamics

Huge electromagnetic fields are known to be present during the late stages of the dynamics of supernovae. Thus, when dealing with electrodynamics in this context, the possibility may arise to probe nonlinear theories. The Einstein field equations minimally coupled to an arbitrary nonlinear Lagrangian of electrodynamics are solved in the regime of slow rotation, i.e. $a << M$ (black hole's mass), up to first order in $a/M$. We use Born-Infeld Lagrangian to compare the obtained results with Maxwellian counterpart. We focus on the astrophysics of neutrino flavor oscillations ($ν_e\toν_{μ, τ}$) and spin-flip ($ν_L\toν_R$), as well as on the computation of that the electron fraction $Y_e$, hence the r-processes, which may significantly differ with respect to the standard electrodynamics.

Anisotropic Pressures in Very Dense Magnetized Matter

The problem of anisotropic pressures arising as a consequence of the spatial symmetry breaking introduced by an external magnetic field in quantum systems is discussed. The role of the conservation of energy and momentum of external fields as well as of systems providing boundary conditions in quantum statistics is considered. The vanishing of the average transverse momentum for an electron-positron system in its Landau ground state is shown, which means the vanishing of its transverse pressure. The situation for neutron case and Strange Quark Matter (SQM) in $β$-equilibrium is also briefly discussed. Thermodynamical relations in external fields as well as the form of the stress tensor in a quantum relativistic medium are also discussed. The ferromagnetic symmetry breaking is briefly discussed.

Quasi-stationary evolution of systems driven by particle evaporation

We study the quasi-stationary evolution of systems where an energetic confinement is unable to completely retain their constituents. It is performed an extensive numerical study of a gas whose dynamics is driven by binary encounters and its particles are able to escape from the container when their kinetic energies overcome a given cutou Uc .We use a parametric family of differential cross sections in order to modify the effectiveness of this equilibration mechanism. It is verified that when the binary encounters favor an effective exploration of all accessible velocities, the quasi-stationary evolution is reached when the detailed balance is imposed for all those binary collisions which do not provoke particle evaporation. However, the weakening of this effectiveness leads to energy distribution functions which could be very well fitted by using a Michie-King-like profile. We perform a theoretical analysis, in the context of Hamiltonian systems driven by a strong chaotic dynamics and particle evaporation, in order to take into account the effect of the nonhomogeneous character of the confining potential.

Self-Magnetization of charged particles and Bose-Einstein Condensation

We discuss the Bose-Einstein condensation of relativistic vector charged particles in a strong external magnetic field in very dense matter, as may be paired spin-up electrons. We show that for electrons such systems may maintain self-consistently magnetic fields of order in between the interval $10^{10}-10^{13}$ Gauss. This could be the origin of large magnetic fields in some white dwarfs, but may also impose bounds due to the arising of strong anisotropy in the pressures, which may produce a transverse collapse of the star.
