Physics at Super B Factory

This report presents the results of studies that investigate the physics reach at a Super $B$ factory, an asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider with a design luminosity of $8 \times 10^{35}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$, which is around 50 times as large as the peak luminosity achieved by the KEKB collider. The studies focus on flavor physics and CP violation measurements that could be carried out in the LHC era. The physics motivation, key observables, measurement methods and expected precisions are presented.

Observation of a new D_sJ meson in B+->D0BD0K+ decays

We report the observation of a new $D_{sJ}$ meson produced in $B^{+} \to \bar{D}^{0} D_{sJ} \to \bar{D}^{0} D^{0} K^{+}$. This state has a mass of $M=2708 \pm 9 ^{+11}_{-10} \rm{MeV}/{\it c}^{2}$, a width $\Gamma = 108 \pm 23 ^{+36}_{-31} ~\rm{MeV}/ {\it c}^{2}$ and a $1^{-}$ spin-parity. The results are based on an analysis of 449 million $B\bar{B}$ events collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+} e^{-}$ collider.

Hybrid pixel detector development for the Linear collider Vertex Detector

In order to fully exploit the Physics potential of future e+ e- linear collider, a Vertex Detector providing high resolution track reconstruction is required. Hybrid Silicon pixel detectors are an attractive option for the sensor technology due to their read-out speed and radiation hardness but have been so far limited by the achievable single point resolution. A novel layout of hybrid pixel sensor with interleaved cells to improve the spatial resolution has been developed. The characterisation of the first processed prototypes is reported.

Characterisation of Hybrid Pixel Detectors with capacitive charge division

In order to fully exploit the physics potential of the future high energy e+ e- linear collider, a Vertex Tracker providing high resolution track reconstruction is required. Hybrid pixel sensors are an attractive technology due to their fast read-out capabilities and radiation hardness. A novel pixel detector layout with interleaved cells between the readout nodes has been developed to improve the single point resolution. The results of the characterisation of the first processed prototypes are reported.

Mass dependence of HBT correlations in e^+e^- annihilation

Mass dependence of the effective source radii, observed in hadronic $Z^0$ decays by several LEP I experiments, is analyzed in a model which assumes proportionality between four-momentum of a produced particle and the four-vector describing its space-time position at the freeze-out. It is shown that this relation (commonly accepted in description of high-energy collisions) can explain the data, provided all particles are emitted from a "tube" of $\sim 1$ fm in diameter at a constant proper time $\sim 1.5$ fm.
