Complete relativistic equation of state for neutron stars

We construct the equation of state (EOS) in a wide density range for neutron stars using the relativistic mean field theory. The properties of neutron star matter with both uniform and non-uniform distributions are studied consistently. The inclusion of hyperons considerably softens the EOS at high densities. The Thomas-Fermi approximation is used to describe the non-uniform matter, which is composed of a lattice of heavy nuclei. The phase transition from uniform matter to non-uniform matter occurs around $0.06 \rm{fm^{-3}}$, and the free neutrons drip out of nuclei at about $2.4 \times 10^{-4}\ \rm{fm^{-3}}$. We apply the resulting EOS to investigate the neutron star properties such as maximum mass and composition of neutron stars.

Study of $Λ$ hypernuclei in the quark mean field model

We extend the quark mean field model to the study of $Λ$ hypernuclei. Without adjusting parameters, the properties of $Λ$ hypernuclei can be described reasonably well. The small spin-orbit splittings for $Λ$ in hypernuclei are achieved, while the $Λ$ single particle energies in the present model are slightly underestimated as compared with the experimental values. About 3% deviation from the quark model prediction for the $ω-Λ$ couplings is required in order to reproduce the experimental single particle energies.

Quark mean field model with density dependent couplings for finite nuclei

The quark mean field model, which describes the nucleon using the constituent quark model, is applied to investigate the properties of finite nuclei. The couplings of the scalar and vector mesons with quarks are made density dependent through direct coupling to the scalar field so as to reproduce the relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock results of nuclear matter. The present model provides satisfactory results on the properties of spherical nuclei, and predicts an increasing size of the nucleon as well as a reduction of the nucleon mass in the nuclear environment

Quark mean field model for nuclear matter and finite nuclei

We study nuclear matter and finite nuclei in terms of the quark mean field (QMF) model, in which we describe the nucleon using the constituent quark model. The meson mean fields, in particular the sigma meson, created by other nucleons act on quarks inside a nucleon and change the nucleon properties in nuclear medium. The QMF model predicts an increasing size of the nucleon as well as a reduction of the nucleon mass in the nuclear environment. The present model is applied to study the properties of finite nuclei after fixing all the parameters by the nuclear matter properties, and it is found to give satisfactory results on the nuclear properties.

Relativistic Equation of State of Nuclear Matter for Supernova Explosion

We construct the equation of state (EOS) of nuclear matter at finite temperature and density with various proton fractions within the relativistic mean field (RMF) theory for the use in the supernova simulations. The Thomas-Fermi approximation is adopted to describe the non-uniform matter where we consider nucleus, alpha-particle, proton and neutron in equilibrium. We treat the uniform matter and non-uniform matter consistently using the RMF theory. We tabulate the outcome as the pressure, free energy, entropy etc, with enough mesh points in wide ranges of the temperature, proton fraction, and baryon mass density.

Relativistic Equation of State of Nuclear Matter for Supernova and Neutron Star

We construct the equation of state (EOS) of nuclear matter using the relativistic mean field (RMF) theory in the wide density, temperature range with various proton fractions for the use of supernova simulation and the neutron star calculations. We first construct the EOS of homogeneous nuclear matter. We use then the Thomas-Fermi approximation to describe inhomogeneous matter, where heavy nuclei are formed together with free nucleon gas. We discuss the results on free energy, pressure and entropy in the wide range of astrophysical interest. As an example, we apply the resulting EOS on the neutron star properties by using the Oppenheimer-Volkoff equation.
