Nucleon Form Factors: Probing the Chiral Limit

The electromagnetic form factors provide important hints for the internal structure of the nucleon and continue to be of major interest for experimentalists. For an intermediate range of momentum transfers the form factors can be calculated on the lattice. However, reliability of the results is limited by systematic errors due to the required extrapolation to physical quark masses. Chiral effective field theories predict a rather strong quark mass dependence in a range which was yet unaccessible for lattice simulations. We give an update on recent results from the QCDSF collaboration using gauge configurations with Nf=2, non-perturbatively O(a)-improved Wilson fermions at very small quark masses down to 340 MeV pion mass, where we start to probe the relevant quark mass region.

Distribution Amplitudes of Pseudoscalar Mesons

We present results for the first two moments of the distribution amplitudes of pseudoscalar mesons. Using two flavors of non-perturbatively improved clover fermions and non-perturbative renormalization of the matrix elements we perform both chiral and continuum extrapolations and compare with recent results from models and experiments.

Critical temperature in QCD with two flavors of dynamical quarks

We present results obtained in QCD with two flavors of non-perturbatively improved Wilson fermions at finite temperature on $16^3 \times 8$ and $24^3 \times 10$ lattices. We determine the transition temperature in the range of quark masses $0.6<m_π/m_ρ<0.8$ at lattice spacing a$\approx$0.1 fm and extrapolate the transition temperature to the continuum and to the chiral limits. We also discuss the order of phase transition.

Finite temperature QCD with two flavors of dynamical quarks on 24^3*10 lattice

We present results obtained in QCD with two flavors of non-perturbatively improved Wilson fermions at finite temperature on $16^3 \times 8$ and $24^3 \times 10$ lattices. A numerical reinvestigation of the Aoki phase with N_f=2 Wilson fermions at zero temperature

We report on a numerical reinvestigation of the Aoki phase in lattice QCD with two flavors of Wilson fermions where the parity-flavor symmetry is spontaneously broken. For this purpose an explicitly symmetry-breaking source term $h\barψ i γ_{5} τ^{3}ψ$ was added to the fermion action. The order parameter $<\barψ i γ_{5}τ^{3}ψ>$ was computed with the Hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm at several values of $(β,κ,h)$ on lattices of sizes $4^4$ to $12^4$ and extrapolated to $h=0$. The existence of a parity-flavor breaking phase can be confirmed at $β=4.0$ and 4.3, while we do not find parity-flavor breaking at $β=4.6$ and 5.0.

The Aoki phase for N_f=2 Wilson fermions revisited

We report on a numerical reinvestigation of the Aoki phase in full lattice QCD with two flavors of unimproved Wilson fermions. For zero temperature the Aoki phase can be confirmed at inverse coupling $β=4.0$ and $β=4.3$, but not at $β=4.6$ and $β=5.0$. At non-zero temperature the Aoki phase was found to exist also at $β=4.6$.

Improved Quenched QCD on Large Lattices - First Results

Continuing our investigations of quenched QCD with improved fermions we have started simulations for lattice size 32^3 x 64 at beta=6.2. We present first results for light hadron masses at kappa=0.13520, 0.13540, and 0.13555. Moreover we compare our initial experiences on the T3E with those for APE/Quadrics systems.

Spectroscopy and Renormalisation Group Flow of a Lattice Nambu-Jona-Lasinio Model

We investigate a lattice Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model both by the Monte Carlo method and Schwinger-Dyson equations. A comparison allows the discussion of finite size effects and the extrapolation to infinite volume. We pay special attention to the identification of particles and resonances. This enables us to discuss renormalisation group flows in the neighbourhood of the critical coupling where the chiral symmetry breaking phase transition takes place. In no region of the bare parameter space do we find renormalisability for the model.

The present status of non-compact lattice QED

We give a 1993 update of non-compact lattice QED, in particular the chiral condensate, finite size effects and meson mass ratios. We compare descriptions of the phase transition. Our previous conclusions remain valid.
