Asymptotic behavior of solutions to some classes of multi-order fractional cooperative systems

This paper is devoted to the study of the asymptotic behavior of solutions to multi-order fractional cooperative systems. First, we demonstrate the boundedness of solutions to fractional-order systems under certain conditions imposed on the vector field. We then prove the global attractivity and the convergence rate of solutions to such systems (in the case when the orders of fractional derivatives are equal, the convergence rate of solutions is sharp and optimal). To our knowledge, these kinds of results are new contributions to the qualitative theory of multi-order fractional positive systems and they seem to have been unknown before in the literature. As a consequence of this result, we obtain the convergence of solutions toward a non-trivial equilibrium point in an ecosystem model (a particular class of fractional-order Kolmogorov systems). Finally, some numerical examples are also provided to illustrate the obtained theoretical results.

On the Mittag-Leffler stability of mixed-order fractional homogeneous cooperative delay systems

In this paper, we study a class of multi-order fractional nonlinear delay systems. Our main contribution is to show the (local or global) Mittag-Leffler stability of systems when some structural assumptions are imposed on the "vector fields": cooperativeness, homogeneity, and order-preserving on the positive orthant of the phase space. In particular, our method is applicable to the case where the degrees of homogeneity of the non-lag and lag components of the vector field are different. In addition, we also investigate in detail the convergence rate of the solutions to the equilibrium point. Two specific examples are also provided to illustrate the validity of the proposed theoretical result.

The oscillatory solutions of multi-order fractional differential equations

This paper systematically treats the asymptotic behavior of many (linear/nonlinear) classes of higher-order fractional differential equations with multiple terms. To do this, we utilize the characteristics of Caputo fractional differentiable functions, the comparison principle, counterfactual reasoning, and the spectral analysis method (concerning the integral presentations of basic solutions). Some numerical examples are also provided to demonstrate the validity of the proposed results.

A generalized fractional Halanay inequality and its applications

This paper is concerned with a generalized Halanay inequality and its applications to fractional-order delay linear systems. First, based on a sub-semigroup property of Mittag-Leffler functions, a generalized Halanay inequality is established. Then, applying this result to fractional-order delay systems with an order-preserving structure, an optimal estimate for the solutions is given. Next, inspired by the obtained Halanay inequality, a linear matrix inequality is designed to derive the Mittag-Leffler stability of general fractional-order delay linear systems. Finally, numerical examples are provided to illustrate the proposed theoretical results.

Qualitative analysis of solutions to mixed-order positive linear coupled systems with bounded or unbounded delays

This paper addresses the qualitative theory of mixed-order positive linear coupled systems with bounded or unbounded delays. First, we introduce a general result on the existence and uniqueness of solutions to mixed-order linear coupled systems with time-varying delays. Next, we obtain the necessary and sufficient criteria which characterize the positivity of a mixed-order delay linear coupled system. Our main contribution is in Section 5. More precisely, by using a smoothness property of solutions to fractional differential equations and developing a new appropriated comparison principle for solutions to mixed-order delayed positive systems, we prove the attractivity of mixed-order non-homogeneous linear positive coupled systems with bounded or unbounded delays. We also establish a necessary and sufficient condition to characterize the stability of homogeneous systems. As a consequence of these results, we show the smallest asymptotic bound of solutions to mixed-order delay non-homogeneous linear positive coupled systems where disturbances are continuous and bounded. Finally, we provide numerical simulations to illustrate the proposed theoretical results.

On the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions to time-fractional elliptic equations with time-dependent variable coefficients

This paper is devoted to discussing the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions to time-fractional elliptic equations having time-dependent variable coefficients. To obtain the main result, our strategy is to combine the Galerkin method, a basic inequality for the fractional derivative of convex Lyapunov candidate functions, the Yoshida approximation sequence and the weak compactness argument.

On the asymptotic behavior of solutions to time-fractional elliptic equations driven a multiplicative white noise

This paper devoted to study of fractional elliptic equations driven a multiplicative noise. By combining the eigenfunction expansion method for symmetry elliptic operators, the variation of constant formula for strong solutions to scalar stochastic fractional differential equations, Ito's formula and establishing a new weighted norm associated with a Lyapunov-Perron operator defined from this representation of solutions, we show the asymptotic behaviour of solutions to these systems in mean square sense. As a consequence, we also prove existence, uniqueness and the convergence rate of their solutions.

On asymptotic properties of solutions to fractional differential equations

We present some distinct asymptotic properties of solutions to Caputo fractional differential equations (FDEs). First, we show that the non-trivial solutions to a FDE can not converge to the fixed points faster than $t^{-α}$, where $α$ is the order of the FDE. Then, we introduce the notion of Mittag-Leffler stability which is suitable for systems of fractional-order. Next, we use this notion to describe the asymptotical behavior of solutions to FDEs by two approaches: Lyapunov's first method and Lyapunov's second method. Finally, we give a discussion on the relation between Lipschitz condition, stability and speed of decay, separation of trajectories to scalar FDEs.

Stability of scalar nonlinear fractional differential equations with linearly dominated delay

In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to a scalar fractional delay differential equations around the equilibrium points. More precise, we provide conditions on the coefficients under which a linear fractional delay equation is asymptotically stable and show that the asymptotic stability of the trivial solution is preserved under a small nonlinear Lipschitz perturbation of the fractional delay differential equation.

Stability of fractional-order nonlinear systems by Lyapunov direct method

In this paper, by using a characterization of functions having fractional derivative, we propose a rigorous fractional Lyapunov function candidate method to analyze stability of fractional-order nonlinear systems. First, we prove an inequality concerning the fractional derivatives of convex Lyapunov functions without the assumption on the existence of derivative of pseudo-states. Second, we establish fractional Lyapunov functions to fractional-order systems without the assumption on the global existence of solutions. Our theorems fill the gaps and strengthen results in some existing papers.

An analytical proof for synchronization of stochastic phase oscillator

In this paper, we show that under a generic condition of the coefficient of a stochastic phase oscillator the Lyapunov exponent of the linearization along an arbitrary solution is always negative. Consequently, the generated random dynamical system exhibits a synchronization.

Asymptotic separation between solutions of Caputo fractional stochastic differential equations

Using a temporally weighted norm we first establish a result on the global existence and uniqueness of solutions for Caputo fractional stochastic differential equations of order $α\in(\frac{1}{2},1)$ whose coefficients satisfy a standard Lipschitz condition. For this class of systems we then show that the asymptotic distance between two distinct solutions is greater than $t^{-\frac{1-α}{2α}-\eps}$ as $t \to \infty$ for any $\eps>0$. As a consequence, the mean square Lyapunov exponent of an arbitrary non-trivial solution of a bounded linear Caputo fractional stochastic differential equation is always non-negative.

Global attractivity for some classes of Riemann--Liouville fractional differential systems

In this paper, we present some results for existence of global solutions and attractivity for mulidimensional fractional differential equations involving Riemann-Liouville derivative. First, by using a Bielecki type norm and Banach fixed point theorem, we prove a Picard-Lindelöf type theorem on the existence and uniqueness of solutions. Then, applying the properties of Mittag-Leffler functions, we describe the attractivity of solutions to some classes of Riemann--Liouville linear fractional differential systems.

Asymptotic behavior of solutions of linear multi-order fractional differential equation systems

In this paper, we investigate some aspects of the qualitative theory for multi-order fractional differential equation systems. First, we obtain a fundamental result on the existence and uniqueness for multi-order fractional differential equation systems. Next, a representation of solutions of homogeneous linear multi-order fractional differential equation systems in series form is provided. Finally, we give characteristics regarding the asymptotic behavior of solutions to some classes of linear multi-order fractional differential equation systems.

An instability theorem for nonlinear fractional differential systems

In this paper, we give a criterion on instability of an equilibrium of nonlinear Caputo fractional differential systems. More precisely, we prove that if the spectrum of the linearization has at least one eigenvalue in the sector $$\left\{λ\in\C\setminus\{0\}:|\arg{(λ)}|<\frac{απ}{2}\right\},$$ where $α\in (0,1)$ is the order of the fractional differential systems, then the equilibrium of the nonlinear systems is unstable.
