Study of Gamow States in the Rigged Hilbert Space with Tempered Ultradistributions

In this work we show that it is possible to extend analitically, and with the use of tempered ultradistributions, the pseudonorm defined by T. Berggren for Gamow states. We define this pseudonorm for all states determined by the zeros of the Jost function for any short range potential. As an example we study the s-states corresponding to the square well potential.

Neutrino sparking and the neutron to strange stars conversion

We address the production of strangelets inside neutron stars by means of high-energy neutrino interactions (sparking). Requiring that neutron stars remain as such along their lifetimes, we obtain a bound on the probability of a strangelet in the final state and compare it with existing laboratory limits. It turns out that this mechanism is not likely to drive a neutron $\to$ strange stars conversion for realistic values of the minimum center-mass-energy necessary to produce the quark-gluon plasma, a necessary precondition for the formation of the strangelet.

Strangelet spectra from type II supernovae

We study in this work the fate of strangelets injected as a contamination in the tail of a "strange matter-driven" supernova shock. A simple model for the fragmentation and braking of the strangelets when they pass through the expanding oxygen shell is presented and solved to understand the reprocessing of this component. We find that the escaping spectrum is a scaled-down version of the one injected at the base of the oxygen shell. The supernova source is likely to produce low-energy particles of $A \sim 100-1000$ quite independently of the initial conditions. However, it is difficult that ultrarrelativistic strangelets (such as the hypothetical Centauro primaries) can have an origin in those explosive events.

Axiomatic Foundations of Nonrelativistic Quantum Mechanics: A Realistic Approach

A realistic axiomatic formulation of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics for a single microsystem with spin is presented, from which the most important theorems of the theory can be deduced. In comparison with previous formulations, the formal aspect has been improved by the use of certain mathematical theories, such as the theory of equipped spaces, and group theory. The standard formalism is naturally obtained from the latter, starting from a central primitive concept: the Galilei group.

Mößbauer null redshift experiment II

Accurate limits for the violation of the Principle of Equivalence have been found from the comparison of the redshifts of two identical nuclear species in different chemical environments.

The Nordtvedt effect in the Trojan asteroids

Bounds to the Nordtvedt parameter are obtained from the motion of the first twelve Trojan asteroids in the period 1906-1990. From the analysis performed, we derive a value for the inverse of the Saturn mass 3497.80 \pm 0.81 and the Nordtvedt parameter -0.56 \pm 0.48, from a simultaneous solution for all asteroids.

A Topological Model for Two Dimensional Gravity Coupled to Matter

Starting from a topological gauge theory in two dimensions with symmetry groups $ISO(2,1)$, $SO(2,1)$ and $SO(1,2)$ we construct a model for gravity with non-trivial coupling to matter. We discuss the equations of motion which are connected to those of previous related models but incorporate matter content. We also discuss the resulting quantum theory and finally present explicit formulæ$\;$ for topological invariants.
