Some Congruences Involving Fourth Powers of Generalized Central Trinomial Coefficients

Let $ p \ge 5 $ be a prime and let $ b, c \in \mathbb{Z} $. Denote by $ T_k(b,c) $ the generalized central trinomial coefficient, i.e., the coefficient of $ x^k $ in $ (x^2 + bx + c)^k $. In this paper, we establish congruences modulo $ p^3 $ and $ p^4 $ for sums of the form $$ \sum_{k=0}^{p-1} (2k+1)^{2a+1}\,\varepsilon^{k}\,\frac{T_k(b,c)^4}{d^{2k}}, $$ where $ a \in \left\lbrace 0,1\right\rbrace $, $ \varepsilon \in \{1,-1\} $, and $ d = b^2 - 4c $ satisfies $ p \nmid d $. In particular, for the special case $ b = c = 1 $, we show that \begin{align*} \sum_{k=0}^{p-1}\left( 2k+1\right) ^{3} \frac{T_{k}^4}{9^k}\equiv -\frac{3p}{4}+\frac{3p^2}{4}\left( \frac{q_p(3)}{4}-1\right) \pmod{p^3}, \end{align*} where $T_k$ is the central trinomial coefficient and $q_p(a)$ is the Fermat quotient.

A Strehl Version of Fourth Franel Sequence

We give a combinatorial identity related to the Franel numbers involving the sum of fourth power of binomial coefficients. Furthermore, investigating in J. Mikic's proof of the first Strehl Identity, we provide a combinatorial proof of this identity using the double counting argument.

Hyperbolic Pascal triangles

In this paper, we introduce a new generalization of Pascal's triangle. The new object is called the hyperbolic Pascal triangle since the mathematical background goes back to regular mosaics on the hyperbolic plane. We describe precisely the procedure of how to obtain a given type of hyperbolic Pascal triangle from a mosaic. Then we study certain quantitative properties such as the number, the sum, and the alternating sum of the elements of a row. Moreover, the pattern of the rows, and the appearence of some binary recurrences in a fixed hyperbolic triangle are investigated.

Associated Lah numbers and r-Stirling numbers

We introduce the associated Lah numbers. Some recurrence relations and convolution identities are established. An extension of the associated Stirling and Lah numbers to the r-Stirling and r-Lah numbers are also given. For all these sequences we give combinatorial interpretation, generating functions, recurrence relations, convolution identities. In the sequel, we develop a section on nested sums related to binomial coefficient.

Unimodality of ordinary multinomials and maximal probabilities of convolution powers of discrete uniform distribution

We establish the unimodality and the asymptotic strong unimodality of the ordinary multinomials and give their smallest mode leading to the expression of the maximal probability of convolution powers of the discrete uniform distribution. We conclude giving the generating functions of the sequence of generalized ordinary multinomials and for an extension of the sequence of maximal probabilities for convolution power of discrete uniform distribution.

Sums of products of generalized Fibonacci and Lucas numbers

In this paper, we establish several formulae for sums and alternating sums of products of generalized Fibonacci and Lucas numbers. In particular, we recover and extend all results of Z. Cerin and Z. Cerin & G. M. Gianella, more easily.

Connection between ordinary multinomials, generalized Fibonacci numbers, partial Bell partition polynomials and convolution powers of discrete uniform distribution

Using an explicit computable expression of ordinary multinomials, we establish three remarkable connections, with the q-generalized Fibonacci sequence, the exponential partial Bell partition polynomials and the density of convolution powers of the discrete uniform distribution. Identities and various combinatorial relations are derived.
