Prospective study of light dark matter search in positron beam mode with DarkSHINE experiment initiative

We perform the prospective study on searching for invisibly decayed dark photons ($A^{\prime}$) in positron-on-fixed-target (POT) scheme with the DarkSHINE experiment simulation setup. In the positron-on-fixed-target scheme, two additional production channels of dark photons via annihilation with extranuclear electrons are present: non-resonant t-channel ($e^+e^-N \to γA^{\prime}N$) and resonant s-channel ($e^+e^-N \to A^{\prime}N$), alongside bremsstrahlung emission similar to electron-on-fixed-target scheme. Based on a GEANT4 full detector simulation of an 8 GeV positron beam with $3 \times 10^{14}$ POT events, we developed an analysis strategy using missing energy and momentum signatures across three orthogonal signal regions optimized for these channels. Our results indicate that the additional annihilation channels of dark photon production enhance the dark photon invisible decay search sensitivity, improving the exclusion limits by approximately two orders of magnitude compared to previous constraints in the electron-on-fixed target (EOT) scheme, particularly near the center-of-mass energy threshold for annihilation production of dark photons.

Jet and jet substructure: ALICE results

Jets and their substructure in pp collisions offer a unique opportunity to probe various aspects of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), ranging from perturbative QCD (pQCD) tests to studies of non-perturbative phenomena such as hadronization. They also probe the transition between perturbative and non-perturbative regimes. In heavy-ion collisions, jets serve as a novel tool to investigate the microscopic properties of the deconfined quark-gluon plasma (QGP). Recently, significant progress has been made in developing jet substructure observables to explore these properties. The ALICE experiment is particularly well-suited for jet measurements due to its high-precision tracking system, which is especially beneficial for detecting low transverse momentum jets. This contribution will highlight recent ALICE measurements of inclusive and semi-inclusive jets, along with various jet substructure observables in pp, p-Pb, and Pb-Pb collisions. The comparisons between data and predictions from Monte Carlo (MC) models as well as analytical calculations will be discussed.

Effective (kinetic freeze-out) temperature, transverse flow velocity and kinetic freeze-out volume in high energy collisions

The transverse momentum spectra of different types of particles produced in central and peripheral gold-gold (Au-Au) and (inelastic) proton-proton ($pp$) collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), as well as in central and peripheral lead-lead (Pb-Pb) and $pp$ collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are analyzed by the standard distribution in terms of multi-component. The obtained results from the standard distribution give an approximate agreement with the measured experimental data by the STAR, PHENIX and ALICE Collaborations. The methodical behavior of the effective (kinetic freeze-out) temperature, transverse flow velocity and kinetic freeze-out volume with the mass dependence for different particles is obtained, which observes the early kinetic freeze-out of heavier particles as compared to the lighter particles. The parameters for emissions of different particles are observed to be different, which reveals a direct signature of the mass dependent differential kinetic freeze-out. It is also observed that the peripheral nucleus-nucleus ($AA$) and $pp$ collisions at the same center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair are close in terms of the extracted parameters.
