Geometry Meets Semantics: Fractional Gradient Stabilization for Semantic-Driven Bounding Box Optimization in Visual Detection Tasks

Bounding boxes are fundamental for object localization in visual detection tasks. Among them, oriented bounding boxes are widely used in visual detection tasks, which provide a more precise directional representation. Generally, IoU-based losses are widely adopted to optimize box regression. However, we observed that IoU-driven box optimization suffers from two key issues: (1) it relies solely on geometric properties while ignoring semantic cues; (2) orientation optimization suffers from unstable gradients, causing oscillations in orientation convergence. In this paper, we propose a Fractional Semantic IoU loss to achieve unified semantic-geometric learning with gradient stabilization. First, we design a semantic similarity metric to guide IoU optimization, building a Semantic IoU loss (SIoU loss) with an adaptive gradient gating mechanism. Then, we revisit the gradient instability issue in oriented box optimization and extend the SIoU loss to a fractional-order formulation to build the \textbf{Fr}actional \textbf{S}emantic \textbf{IoU} \textbf{loss} (FrSIoU loss). The FrSIoU loss accumulates historical IoU states to regularize abnormal gradients during bounding box optimization process. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach achieves stable performance gains across different bounding box formulations and diverse visual detection tasks. The code will be available on GitHub.

FP-ANeT: A Fixed-Point Attention Network for Hybrid-Field THz Ultra-massive MIMO Channel Estimation

Ultra-massive multiple-input multiple-output (UM-MIMO) is a key technology for enabling terahertz (THz) communications in 6G networks, offering high beamforming gain to combat severe path loss. However, the large antenna array expands the near-field region, resulting in a hybrid near- and far-field communication environment. This makes channel estimation significantly more challenging than in conventional networks. To address this issue, we propose a novel attention augmented channel estimator named the fixed-point attention network (FP-ANet), which integrates fixed-point theory with a dual-attention mechanism. By combining a linear and dual-attention residual blocks based non-linear estimator in each iteration, this model-driven approach effectively exploits the sparsity of THz channels in the angular-distance domain, enabling a more precise and physically-grounded channel estimation. Simulation results show that FP-ANet achieves superior channel estimation accuracy compared to state-of-the-art methods while maintaining comparable computational complexity.

RTD-Guard: A Black-Box Textual Adversarial Detection Framework via Replacement Token Detection

Textual adversarial attacks pose a serious security threat to Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems by introducing imperceptible perturbations that mislead deep learning models. While adversarial example detection offers a lightweight alternative to robust training, existing methods typically rely on prior knowledge of attacks, white-box access to the victim model, or numerous queries, which severely limits their practical deployment. This paper introduces RTD-Guard, a novel black-box framework for detecting textual adversarial examples. Our key insight is that word-substitution perturbations in adversarial attacks closely resemble the "replaced tokens" that a Replaced Token Detection (RTD) discriminator is pre-trained to identify. Leveraging this, RTD-Guard employs an off-the-shelf RTD discriminator-without fine-tuning-to localize suspicious tokens, masks them, and detects adversarial examples by observing the prediction confidence shift of the victim model before and after intervention. The entire process requires no adversarial data, model tuning, or internal model access, and uses only two black-box queries. Comprehensive experiments on multiple benchmark datasets demonstrate that RTD-Guard effectively detects adversarial texts generated by diverse state-of-the-art attack methods. It surpasses existing detection baselines across multiple metrics, offering a highly efficient, practical, and resource-light defense mechanism-particularly suited for real-world deployment in resource-constrained or privacy-sensitive environments.

Exact Controllability for Stochastic First-Order Multi-Dimensional Hyperbolic Systems

This paper investigates the exact controllability problem for multi-dimensional stochastic first-order symmetric hyperbolic systems with control inputs acting in two distinct ways: an internal control applied to the diffusion term and a boundary control applied to the drift term. By means of a classical duality argument, the controllability problem is reduced to an observability estimate for the corresponding backward stochastic system. The main technical contribution is the establishment of a new global Carleman estimate for such backward systems, combined with a weighted energy identity. This enables us to prove the desired observability inequality under a geometric structural condition (Condition \ref{cond1}), which ensures that all characteristic rays propagate toward the boundary within a finite time. As a result, we obtain exact controllability provided the control time $T$ exceeds a sharp threshold $T_0$ given explicitly in terms of the system geometry. Furthermore, we complement the positive result with several negative controllability theorems, which demonstrate that both controls are necessary and must act in a distributed manner. Our analysis not only extends controllability theory from deterministic to stochastic multi-dimensional hyperbolic systems but also provides, as a byproduct, new results for deterministic systems under a structural hypothesis. Applications to stochastic traffic flow, epidemiological models, and shallow-water equations are discussed.

Numerical boundary control of multi-dimensional discrete-velocity kinetic models

This paper extends our recent results on multi-dimensional discrete-velocity models to the numerical level. By adopting an operator splitting scheme and introducing a suitable discrete Lyapunov function, we derive numerical control laws that ensure the corresponding numerical solutions decay exponentially in time. To handle the stiff source term, we also use an implicit scheme for the collision part and prove the stability of the resulting schemes. The theoretical results are validated through three numerical simulations for the two-dimensional coplanar model.

Boundary control of multi-dimensional discrete-velocity kinetic models

This technical note is concerned with boundary stabilization of multi-dimensional discrete-velocity kinetic models. By exploiting a certain stability structure of the models and adapting an appropriate Lyapunov functional, we derive feasible control laws so that the corresponding solutions decay exponentially in time. The result is illustrated with an application to the two-dimensional coplanar model in a square container. The effectiveness of the derived control laws is confirmed by numerical simulations.

ASGNet: Adaptive Semantic Gate Networks for Log-Based Anomaly Diagnosis

Logs are widely used in the development and maintenance of software systems. Logs can help engineers understand the runtime behavior of systems and diagnose system failures. For anomaly diagnosis, existing methods generally use log event data extracted from historical logs to build diagnostic models. However, we find that existing methods do not make full use of two types of features, (1) statistical features: some inherent statistical features in log data, such as word frequency and abnormal label distribution, are not well exploited. Compared with log raw data, statistical features are deterministic and naturally compatible with corresponding tasks. (2) semantic features: Logs contain the execution logic behind software systems, thus log statements share deep semantic relationships. How to effectively combine statistical features and semantic features in log data to improve the performance of log anomaly diagnosis is the key point of this paper. In this paper, we propose an adaptive semantic gate networks (ASGNet) that combines statistical features and semantic features to selectively use statistical features to consolidate log text semantic representation. Specifically, ASGNet encodes statistical features via a variational encoding module and fuses useful information through a well-designed adaptive semantic threshold mechanism. The threshold mechanism introduces the information flow into the classifier based on the confidence of the semantic features in the decision, which is conducive to training a robust classifier and can solve the overfitting problem caused by the use of statistical features. The experimental results on the real data set show that our method proposed is superior to all baseline methods in terms of various performance indicators.

Feedback boundary control of 2-D hyperbolic systems with relaxation

This paper is concerned with boundary stabilization of two-dimensional hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations. By adapting the Lyapunov function previously proposed by the second author for linearized hyperbolic systems with relaxation structure, we derive certain control laws so that the corresponding solutions decay exponentially in time. The result is illustrated with an application to water flows in open channels.

A thermodynamic framework for unified continuum models for the healing of damaged soft biological tissue

When they are damaged or injured, soft biological tissues are able to self-repair and heal. Mechanics is critical during the healing process, as the damaged extracellular matrix (ECM) tends to be replaced with a new undamaged ECM supporting homeostatic stresses. Computational modeling has been commonly used to simulate the healing process. However, there is a pressing need to have a unified thermodynamics theory for healing. From the viewpoint of continuum damage mechanics, some key parameters related to healing processes, for instance, the volume fraction of newly grown soft tissue and the growth deformation, can be regarded as internal variables and have related evolution equations. This paper is aiming to establish this unified framework inspired by thermodynamics for continuum damage models for the healing of soft biological tissues. The significant advantage of the proposed model is that no \textit{ad hoc} equations are required for describing the healing process. Therefore, this new model is more concise and offers a universal approach to simulate the healing process. Three numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model, which is in good agreement with the existing works, including an application for balloon angioplasty in an arteriosclerotic artery with a fiber cap.

Gradient-enhanced continuum models of healing in damaged soft tissues

Healing of soft biological tissue is the process of self-recovering or self-repairing the injured or damaged extracellular matrix (ECM). Healing is assumed to be stress-driven, with the objective of returning to a homeostatic stress metrics in the tissue after replacing the damaged ECM with new undamaged one. However, based on the existence of intrinsic length-scales in soft tissues, it is thought that computational models of healing should be non-local. In the present study, we introduce for the first time two gradient-enhanced con-stitutive healing models for soft tissues including non-local variables. The first model combines a continuum damage model with a temporally homogenized growth model, where the growth direction is determined according to local principal stress directions. The second one is based on a gradient-enhanced healing model with continuously recoverable damage variable. Both models are implemented in the finite-element package Abaqus by means of a user sub-routine UEL. Three two-dimensional situations simulating the healing process of soft tissues are modeled numerically with both models, and their application for simulation of balloon angioplasty is provided by illustrating the change of damage field and geometry in the media layer throughout the healing process.
