Note on arithmetic structure of modulus vacua in flux compactifications

We study modulus stabilization by background fluxes. The supersymmetric minima satisfy a holomorphic quadratic equation. As concrete examples, we consider $T^6/(\mathbb{Z}_2\times\mathbb{Z}_2')$ orientifold model and a simple Calabi-Yau compactification. The modulus values show specific patterns. For example, they show the Farey sequence. The void structure appears around modulus vacua with high degeneracies. We find a correlation between the degeneracy and the void area. The modulus vacua are related by discrete Abelian symmetries generated by the Gauss composition law, which includes the CP symmetry. Spontaneous CP violation is also discussed.

Textures of dimension-six operators in the SMEFT with non-invertible selection rules

We investigate the flavor structures of dimension-six operators in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) subject to non-invertible selection rules. In particular, we classify the flavor textures of all baryon-number-conserving dimension-six SMEFT operators and determine the resulting constraints on their Wilson coefficients. The selection rules determine not only the texture zeros but also the allowed tensor structures of the Wilson coefficients, which can be expressed analytically in terms of a reduced number of independent parameters. We also find that the flavor structures of higher-dimensional operators are not necessarily aligned with those of the Yukawa couplings, in contrast to the Minimal Flavor Violation hypothesis, in which the Yukawa couplings govern the flavor structure of higher-dimensional operators. It turns out that the resulting flavor and chirality patterns differ from those typically obtained in SMEFT with conventional flavor symmetries, providing characteristic predictions for $B$-meson observables and charged-lepton-flavor-violating radiative decays.

Uncovering Hidden Leptonic Correlations with Flow Matching and Autoencoders

We perform a global search for values of the Yukawa matrices and Majorana masses in the Type-I seesaw mechanism. Using flow matching, which is a generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) method, we generate a broad set of solutions reproducing the experimentally measured values of the neutrino mass-squared differences and the mixing angles. Then, a machine learning method known as an autoencoder is applied to uncover non-trivial correlations among physical quantities in the lepton sector. Our analysis reveals new non-linear relations involving neutrino masses and CP phases. These findings may contribute to elucidating the origins of the mass hierarchies and mixing patterns among generation structure.

Diffusion-model approach to flavor models: A case study for $S_4^\prime$ modular flavor model

We propose a numerical method of searching for parameters with experimental constraints in generic flavor models by utilizing diffusion models, which are classified as a type of generative artificial intelligence (generative AI). As a specific example, we consider the $S_4^\prime$ modular flavor model and construct a neural network that reproduces quark masses, the CKM matrix, and the Jarlskog invariant by treating free parameters in the flavor model as generating targets. By generating new parameters with the trained network and local optimization, we find various phenomenologically interesting parameter regions. Additionally, we confirm that the spontaneous CP violation occurs in the $S_4^\prime$ model. The diffusion model enables an inverse problem approach, allowing the machine to provide a series of plausible model parameters from given experimental data.

The Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with Non-Invertible Selection Rules

We investigate a framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) in which the quark and lepton flavor structure and suppression of flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNCs) are governed by non-invertible selection rules. By implementing such non-group-like fusion rules for matter fields, arising from gauging the outer automorphism $\mathbb{Z}_2$ of a discrete $\mathbb{Z}_N$ symmetry, we obtain realistic Yukawa textures that reproduce the observed quark and lepton masses and mixings while ensuring diagonal soft supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking masses and hence suppressing dangerous FCNC processes. We analyze mass insertion parameters under random $\mathcal{O}(1)$ coefficients and find that all flavor-violating effects are consistent with experimental limits on processes such as $μ\to e γ$ and meson mixings. We show that the Yukawa textures and soft terms remain stable under renormalization group evolution. Our results demonstrate that non-invertible selection rules provide a compelling new mechanism to address both the flavor structure and FCNC problems in supersymmetric models.

Revisiting One-Zero and Two-Zero Neutrino Mass Textures in Light of Recent Oscillation and Cosmological Data

We revisit one-zero and two-zero textures of the neutrino mass matrix under current experimental and cosmological constraints. We identify the phenomenologically viable texture structures using the latest results on neutrino oscillation parameters, the cosmological bound on the sum of neutrino masses, the kinematic bound on the effective electron-neutrino mass, and limits from neutrinoless double-beta decay. For two-zero textures, several structures are still allowed if only the CMB bound on the neutrino mass sum is imposed. Among them, the $B$-series textures show a characteristic prediction for the Dirac CP phase, with $δ_{\rm CP}$ lying around $π/2$ and $3π/2$, and are within the reach of future neutrinoless double-beta decay searches. When the stronger CMB+BAO constraint is included, however, only the $A$-series textures remain viable. Therefore, we also analyze one-zero textures by using machine learning techniques, particularly flow matching. It turns out that some of the texture structures are already excluded by current data, while the allowed ones give distinct predictions for $\sum_i m_i$, $m_{ν_e}^{\rm eff}$, $\langle m_{ee}\rangle$, and $δ_{\rm CP}$. We further discuss how the one-zero texture structures can arise from non-invertible selection rules.

Exploring the flavor structure of leptons via diffusion models

We propose a method to explore the flavor structure of leptons using diffusion models, which are known as one of generative artificial intelligence (generative AI). We consider a simple extension of the Standard Model with the type I seesaw mechanism and train a neural network to generate the neutrino mass matrix. By utilizing transfer learning, the diffusion model generates 104 solutions that are consistent with the neutrino mass squared differences and the leptonic mixing angles. The distributions of the CP phases and the sums of neutrino masses, which are not included in the conditional labels but are calculated from the solutions, exhibit non-trivial tendencies. In addition, the effective mass in neutrinoless double beta decay is concentrated near the boundaries of the existing confidence intervals, allowing us to verify the obtained solutions through future experiments. An inverse approach using the diffusion model is expected to facilitate the experimental verification of flavor models from a perspective distinct from conventional analytical methods.

Massive modes on magnetized blow-up manifold of $T^2/\mathbb{Z}_N$

We study massive modes on a magnetized blow-up manifold of $T^2/\mathbb{Z}_N$. The blow-up manifold can be constructed by appropriately replacing orbifold singular points with a part of $S^2$. To ensure a smooth connection between the massive modes on magnetized $T^2/\mathbb{Z}_N$ orbifold and those on magnetized $S^2$, it is required that not only the total magnetic flux as well as the total curvature but also the effective magnetic flux on the connected line remain invariant under the blow-up procedure. Furthermore, we find that the number of the localized modes at each orbifold singular point increases by one for each unit increment of the mass level.

Dynamical CP Violation from Non-Invertible Selection Rules

We propose a novel mechanism in which leptonic CP-violating phases are generated dynamically through the radiative breaking of non-invertible selection rules. In this framework, tree-level mass matrices, initially constrained by a CP-like symmetry within a non-invertible structure, acquire flavor-dependent phases once loop corrections are incorporated. Furthermore, these corrections can also generate mass terms, thereby addressing the mass hierarchy problem. As an illustrative example, we employ the Inverse Seesaw (ISS) model to demonstrate how the Majorana mass of the light sterile neutrino $N_L$ arises via this mechanism while simultaneously realizing CP violation. Although our analysis is carried out within the ISS framework, the mechanism has broader implications, potentially offering new perspectives on CP-related problems such as the strong CP problem, leptogenesis, and baryogenesis. This work thus establishes a foundation for exploring the dynamical breaking of non-invertible selection rules as a novel origin of CP violation in particle physics.

Residual group-like symmetries in selection rules without group actions

We analyze loop-induced group-like symmetries in theories where fields are labeled by basis elements of a fusion algebra constructed from the conjugacy classes of finite groups. Although the fusion rules for conjugacy classes are in general violated at loop level, residual group-like symmetries, including both Abelian and non-Abelian ones, remain exact through a procedure referred to as ``groupification''. By examining various conjugacy classes of finite groups realized in heterotic string theory on non-Abelian orbifolds, we identify an approximate discrete symmetry that controls the magnitude of loop-induced couplings. As a result, most parameters appearing in non-invertible selection rules are natural in the sense of 't Hooft. Furthermore, we discuss anomalies of the groupification symmetry, which can impose additional constraints on models with non-invertible fusion rules.

Yukawa Textures with Enhanced Symmetries in Heterotic Calabi-Yau Compactifications

We clarify the structure of Yukawa couplings and mass matrices for matter fields in heterotic string theory on smooth Calabi-Yau threefolds with standard embedding. The topological structure of Calabi-Yau threefolds leads to interesting Yukawa textures that cannot be derived from group-theoretical symmetries, e.g., the so-called Weinberg texture in the case of two generations of matter fields. Furthermore, we find that a $U(2)$ flavor symmetry, which plays an important role in controlling higher-dimensional operators in the Standard Model effective field theory, emerges at specific loci in the moduli space of multi-Higgs fields. Small perturbations around these loci generate semi-realistic patterns of quark masses and mixings.

Modular weights of wave functions on magnetized torus

We study the origin of modular weights of wave functions in magnetized $T^{2}$ models. It is explicitly demonstrated that the modular weights of the wave functions on magnetized $T^2$ is equivalent to their mass level. We further extend this result to magnetized $T^{2g}$ models. As a result, we construct the wave functions of excited states in magnetized $T^{2g}$ models and show that their modular weights are likewise equivalent to the corresponding mass levels.

Generalized CP from non-invertible selection rules

We study a framework in which fields are labeled by basis elements of a fusion algebra with non-invertible fusion rules. In particular, we consider the case where fields are labeled by conjugacy classes of a finite group rather than its irreducible representations. When the fusion rules possess a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry identified with charge conjugation, a CP-invariant system can be consistently defined together with parity transformation. Furthermore, it is found that combining group-based flavor symmetries underlying non-invertible selection rules with CP symmetry naturally leads to a generalized CP transformation. We also demonstrate the possibility of spontaneous CP violation in this framework and discuss its implications for Yukawa textures.

Radiative neutrino mass models from non-invertible selection rules

We apply non-invertible selection rules coming from a fusion algebra to radiative neutrino mass models where fields are labeled by the elements in the algebra. Since non-invertible selection rules only hold at tree level, radiative corrections naturally explain the origin of tiny neutrino masses. Furthermore, a remnant symmetry of the fusion algebra protects the stability of dark matter, which is conventionally imposed in radiative neutrino models. We also find that interesting neutrino mass textures are realized by assigning fields to family-dependent elements in the algebra.

Heavy Field Effects on Inflationary Models in Light of ACT Data

Recent results from the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT), when combined with Planck and DESI datasets, indicate a scalar spectral index $n_s$ larger than that reported in the Planck 2018 baseline, thereby challenging conventional Starobinsky-type ($α$-attractor) inflationary scenarios at the $2σ$ level. In addition, the positive running of the spectral index $α_s$ implied by the data provides strong constraints on these models. In this paper, we explore the possibility that the presence of an additional heavy field during inflation, with a mass of order the Hubble scale and a sizable mixing coupling to the inflaton, can reconcile such inflationary models with the ACT results by increasing both $n_s$ and $α_s$, particularly in the strong-mixing regime. Furthermore, we extend this framework to traditional inflation models such as chaotic inflation and natural inflation, which have already been excluded by Planck alone, and show that they can be revived in certain regions of parameter space. Inflationary observables, including the spectral index $n_s$, the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$, and the running $α_s$, are computed within the single-field EFT approach, which is applicable even in the presence of a heavy field with large mixing. We also discuss the non-Gaussianity signatures arising from the heavy field, noting that parts of the parameter space are already excluded or can be tested in future observations. Finally, we present concrete model realizations that allow for such a large mixing.

Reinforcement learning-based statistical search strategy for an axion model from flavor

We propose a reinforcement learning-based search strategy to explore new physics beyond the Standard Model. The reinforcement learning, which is one of machine learning methods, is a powerful approach to find model parameters with phenomenological constraints. As a concrete example, we focus on a minimal axion model with a global $U(1)$ flavor symmetry. Agents of the learning succeed in finding $U(1)$ charge assignments of quarks and leptons solving the flavor and cosmological puzzles in the Standard Model, and find more than 150 realistic solutions for the quark sector taking renormalization effects into account. For the solutions found by the reinforcement learning-based analysis, we discuss the sensitivity of future experiments for the detection of an axion which is a Nambu-Goldstone boson of the spontaneously broken $U(1)$. We also examine how fast the reinforcement learning-based searching method finds the best discrete parameters in comparison with conventional optimization methods. In conclusion, the efficient parameter search based on the reinforcement learning-based strategy enables us to perform a statistical analysis of the vast parameter space associated with the axion model from flavor.

GUT-motivated non-invertible symmetry as a solution to the strong CP problem and the neutrino CP-violating phase

The unsuppressed CP violation in QCD is a problem in the standard model. If we have some mechanism to guarantee real determinants of the quark mass matrices, the vanishing physical vacuum angle $\bar θ$ indicates the CP invariance at the fundamental level. Thus, the small ${\bar θ}$ is technically natural, since we have an enhanced CP symmetry in the limit of the vanishing $\bar θ=0$. In fact, it was proved that the vacuum angle is never renormalized up to the four-loop level once it is fixed at 0 value at some high energy scale. The purpose of this paper is to construct a model which guarantees the real determinants of the quark mass matrices assuming a non-invertible symmetry.

Non-Invertible Selection Rules on Heterotic Non-Abelian Orbifolds

We investigate coupling selection rules in heterotic string theory on non-Abelian orbifolds. Since boundary conditions on the orbifolds are classified by conjugacy classes of space group elements, non-Abelian orbifolds give rise to non-invertible selection rules on couplings among twisted sectors as well as ones including untwisted sectors. Furthermore, we find that non-invertible selection rules lead to characteristic patterns of Yukawa matrices.
