Generalized vector valued almost periodic and ergodic distributions

For $\Cal A\subset L^1_{loc}(\Bbb J,X)$ let $\Cal M\Cal A$ consist of all $f\in L^1_{loc}$ with $ M_h f (\cdot):=\frac {1}{h}\int_{0}^{h}f(\cdot +s)\,ds \in \Cal A$ for all $h>0$. Here $X$ is a Banach space, $\Bbb J= (α,\infty), [α,\infty)$ or $\Bbb R$. Usually $\Cal A\subset\Cal M\Cal A\subset \Cal M^2\Cal A\subset ...$. The map $ \Cal A \to \Cal {D}'_{\Cal A}$ is iteration complete, that is $ \Cal {D}'_{\Cal {D}'_{\Cal A}}= \Cal {D}'_{\Cal A}$. Under suitable assumptions $\widetilde {\Cal M}^n \Cal {A}= \Cal A + \{T^{(n)} : T \in \Cal A\}$, and similarly for $\Cal {M}^n \Cal A$. Almost periodic $X$-valued distributions $\h'_{\A}$ with $\A = $ almost periodic (ap) functions are characterized in several ways. Various generalizations of the Bohl-Bohr-Kadets theorem on the almost periodicity of the indefinite integral of an ap or almost automorphic function are obtained. On $ \Cal {D}'_{\Cal E} $, $ \Cal E $ the class of ergodic functions, a mean can be constructed which gives Fourier series. Special cases of $\Cal A $ are the Bohr ap, Stepanoff ap, almost automorphic, asymptotically ap, Eberlein weakly ap, pseudo ap and (totally) ergodic functions $(\T)\E$. Then always $\Cal {M}^n \Cal A$ is strictly contained in $ \Cal {M}^{n+1} \Cal A$. The relations between $\m^n \E$, $\m^n\T\E$ and subclasses are discussed. For many of the above results a new $(Δ)$-condition is needed, we show that it holds for most of the $\A$ needed in applications. Also, we obtain new tauberian theorems for $f\in L^1_{loc}(\Bbb J,X)$ to belong to a class $\A$ which are decisive in describing the asymptotic behavior of unbounded solutions of many abstract differential-integral equations. This generalizes various recent results

Recurrent solutions of neutral differential-difference systems

Results of Bohr-Neugebauer type are obtained for recurrent functions : If $y$ is a bounded uniformly continuous solution of a linear neutral difference-differential system with recurrent right-hand side, then $y$ is recurrent if $c_0 \not \subset X$ ; also analogues and extensions to half lines are given. For this, various subclasses "$rec$" are introduced which are linear (the set REC of all recurrent functions is not), invariant, closed etc. Also, analogues of the Bohl-Bohr-Amerio-Kadets and Esclangon- Landau results for REC are obtained.

Heat equation for weighted Banach space valued function spaces

We study the homogeneous equation (*) $ u' = Δu$, $t > 0$, $u(0)=f\in wX$, where $wX$ is a weighted Banach space, $w(x)= (1+||x||)^k$, $x\in \r^n$ with $k\ge 0$, $ Δ$ is the Laplacian, $Y$ a complex Banach space and $X$ one of the spaces $ BUC (\r^n,Y)\} $, $ C_0 (\r^n,Y)$, $ L^p (\r^n,Y)$, $1 \le p < \infty$. It is shown that the mild solutions of (*) are still given by the classical Gauss-Poisson formula, a holomorphic $C_0$-semigroup.

Existence of bounded uniformly continuous mild solutions on $\Bbb{R}$ of evolution equations and some applications

We prove that there is $x_ϕ\in X$ for which (*)$\frac{d u(t)}{dt}= A u(t) + ϕ(t) $, $u(0)=x$ has on $\r$ a mild solution $u\in C_{ub} (\r,X)$ (that is bounded and uniformly continuous) with $u(0)=x_ϕ$, where $A$ is the generator of a holomorphic $C_0$-semigroup $(T(t))_{t\ge 0}$ on ${X}$ with sup $_{t\ge 0} \,||T(t)|| < \infty$, $ϕ\in L^{\infty} (\r,{X})$ and $i\,sp (ϕ)\cap σ(A)=\emptyset$. As a consequence it is shown that if $\n$ is the space of almost periodic $AP$, almost automorphic $AA$, bounded Levitan almost periodic $LAP_b$, certain classes of recurrent functions $REC_b$ and $ϕ\in L^{\infty} (\r,{X})$ such that $M_h ϕ:=(1/h)\int_0^h ϕ(\cdot+s)\, ds \in \n$ for each $h >0$, then $u\in \n\cap C_{ub}$. These results seem new and generalize and strengthen several recent Theorems.

Existence of bounded uniformly continuous mild solutions on $\Bbb{R}$ of evolution equations and their asymptotic behaviour

We prove that $u'= A u + ϕ$ has on $\Bbb{R}$ a mild solution $u_ϕ\in BUC (\Bbb{R},X)$ (that is bounded and uniformly continuous), where $A$ is the generator of a $C_0$-semigroup on the Banach space ${X}$ with resolvent satisfying $||R(it,A)||= O(|t|^{-θ})$, $|t|\to \infty $, with some $θ> 1/2$, $ϕ\in L^{\infty} (\Bbb{R},{X})$ and $i\,sp (ϕ)\cap σ(A)=\emptyset$. As a consequence it is shown that if ${\Cal F}$ is the space of almost periodic, almost automorphic, bounded Levitan almost periodic or certain classes of recurrent functions and $ϕ$ as above is such that $M_h ϕ:=(1/h)\int_0^h ϕ(\cdot+s)\, ds \in \Cal {F}$ for each $h >0$, then $u_ϕ\in \Cal {F}\cap BUC (\Bbb{R},X)$. These results seem new and strengthen several recent theorems.

Eberlein almost periodic functions that are not pseudo almost periodic

We construct Eberlein almost periodic functions $ f_j : J \to H$ so that $||f_1(\cdot)||$ is not ergodic and thus not Eberlein almost periodic and $||f_2(.)||$ is Eberlein almost periodic, but $f_1$ and $f_2$ are not pseudo almost periodic, the Parseval equation for them fails, where $J=\r_+$ or $\r$ and $H$ is a Hilbert space. This answers several questions posed by Zhang and Liu [18].

Spectral criteria for solutions of evolution equations and comments on reduced spectra

We revisit the notion of reduced spectra $sp_{\Cal {F}} (ϕ)$ for bounded measurable functions $ϕ\in L^{\infty} (J,\Bbb{X})$, ${\Cal {F}}\subset L^1_{loc}(J,\Bbb{X})$. We show that it can not be obtained via Carleman spectra unless $ϕ\in BUC(J,\Bbb{X})$ and ${\Cal {F}} \subset BUC(J,\Bbb{X})$. In section 3, we give two examples which seem to be of independent interest for spectral theory. In section 4, we prove a spectral criteria for bounded mild solutions of evolution equation (*) $\frac{d u(t)}{dt}= A u(t) + ϕ(t) $, $u(0)=x\in \Bbb{X}$, $t\in {J}$, where $A$ is a closed linear operator on $\Bbb{X}$ and $ϕ\in L^{\infty} ({J}, \Bbb{X})$ where $ {J} \in\{\r_+,\r\}$.
