BV quantization of dynamical fuzzy spectral triples

This paper provides a systematic study of gauge symmetries in the dynamical fuzzy spectral triple models for quantum gravity that have been proposed by Barrett and collaborators. We develop both the classical and the perturbative quantum BV formalism for these models, which in particular leads to an explicit homological construction of the perturbative quantum correlation functions. We show that the relevance of ghost and antifield contributions to such correlation functions depends strongly on the background Dirac operator $D_0$ around which one perturbs, and in particular on the amount of gauge symmetry that it breaks. This will be illustrated by studying quantum perturbations around 1.) the gauge-invariant zero Dirac operator $D_0=0$ in a general $(p,q)$-model, and 2.) a simple example of a non-trivial $D_0$ in the quartic $(0,1)$-model.

Batalin-Vilkovisky quantization of fuzzy field theories

We apply the modern Batalin-Vilkovisky quantization techniques of Costello and Gwilliam to noncommutative field theories in the finite-dimensional case of fuzzy spaces. We further develop a generalization of this framework to theories that are equivariant under a triangular Hopf algebra symmetry, which in particular leads to quantizations of finite-dimensional analogs of the field theories proposed recently through the notion of `braided $L_\infty$-algebras'. The techniques are illustrated by computing perturbative correlation functions for scalar and Chern-Simons theories on the fuzzy $2$-sphere, as well as for braided scalar field theories on the fuzzy $2$-torus.

A global view on star formation: The GLOSTAR Galactic plane survey III. 6.7 GHz methanol maser survey in Cygnus X

The Cygnus X complex is covered by the Global View of Star Formation in the Milky Way (GLOSTAR) survey, an unbiased radio-wavelength Galactic plane survey, in 4--8 GHz continuum radiation and several spectral lines. The GLOSTAR survey observed the 6.7~GHz transition of methanol (CH$_3$OH), an exclusive tracer of high-mass young stellar objects. Using the Very Large Array in both the B and D configurations, we observed an area in Cygnus~X of $7^{\rm o}\times3^{\rm o}$ in size and simultaneously covered the methanol line and the continuum, allowing cross-registration. We detected thirteen sources with Class~II methanol maser emission and one source with methanol absorption. Two methanol maser sources are newly detected; in addition, we found four new velocity components associated with known masers. Five masers are concentrated in the DR21 ridge and W75N. We determined the characteristics of the detected masers and investigated the association with infrared, (sub)millimeter, and radio continuum emission. All maser sources are associated with (sub)millimeter dust continuum emission, which is consistent with the picture of masers tracing regions in an active stage of star formation. On the other hand, only five masers ($38\pm17\%$) have radio continuum counterparts seen with GLOSTAR within $\sim$1$''$, testifying to their youth. Comparing the distributions of the bolometric luminosity and the luminosity-to-mass ratio of cores that host 6.7~GHz methanol masers with those of the full core population, we identified lower limits $L_{\rm Bol}\sim200~L_\odot$ and $L_{\rm Bol}/M_{\rm core}\sim1~L_\odot~M^{-1}_\odot$ for a dust source to host maser emission.

Dirac operators on noncommutative hypersurfaces

This paper studies geometric structures on noncommutative hypersurfaces within a module-theoretic approach to noncommutative Riemannian (spin) geometry. A construction to induce differential, Riemannian and spinorial structures from a noncommutative embedding space to a noncommutative hypersurface is developed and applied to obtain noncommutative hypersurface Dirac operators. The general construction is illustrated by studying the sequence $\mathbb{T}^{2}_θ \hookrightarrow \mathbb{S}^{3}_θ \hookrightarrow \mathbb{R}^{4}_θ$ of noncommutative hypersurface embeddings.

The Three-mm Ultimate Mopra Milky Way Survey. II. Cloud and Star Formation Near the Filamentary Ministarburst RCW 106

We report here a study of gas, dust and star formation rates (SFRs) in the molecular cloud complexes (MCCs) surrounding the giant H$\,{\rm \scriptsize{II}}$ region RCW$\,$106 using $^{12}$CO and $^{13}$CO$\,$(1-0) data from the Three-mm Ultimate Mopra Milky way Survey (ThrUMMS) and archival data. We separate the emission in the Galactic Plane around $l=330^{\circ}$-$335^{\circ}$ and $b=-1^{\circ}$-$1^{\circ}$ into two main MCCs: the RCW$\,$106 (V$_{\rm LSR} = -48\,$km$\,$s$^{-1}$) complex and the MCC331-90(V$_{\rm LSR} = -90\,$km$\,$s$^{-1}$) complex. While RCW$\,$106 (M$\sim 5.9\times 10^{6}\,$M$_{\odot}$) is located in the Scutum-Centaurus arm at a distance of 3.6$\,$kpc, MCC331-90 (M$\sim 2.8\times 10^{6}\,$M$_{\odot}$) is in the Norma arm at a distance of 5$\,$kpc. Their molecular gas mass surface densities are $\sim220$ and $\sim130\,$M$_{\odot}$ pc$^{-2}$, respectively. For RCW$\,$106 complex, using the 21$\,$cm continuum fluxes and dense clump counting, we obtain an immediate past ($\sim$-0.2$\,$Myr) and an immediate future ($\sim$+0.2$\,$Myr) SFRs of $0.25_{-0.023}^{+0.09}\,$M$_{\odot},{\rm yr}^{-1}$ and $0.12\pm0.1 \,$M$_{\odot}\,{\rm yr}^{-1}$. This results in an immediate past SFR density of $9.5_{-0.9}^{+3.4}\,$M$_{\odot}\,{\rm yr}^{-1}\,{\rm kpc}^{-2}$ and an immediate future SFR density of $4.8_{-3.8}^{+3.8}\,$M$_{\odot}\,{\rm yr}^{-1}\,{\rm kpc}^{-2}$. As both SFRs in this cloud are higher than the ministarburst threshold, they must be undergoing a ministarburst event although burst peak has already passed. We conclude that this is one of the most active star forming complexes in the southern sky, ideal for further investigations of massive star formation and potentially shedding light on the physics of high-redshift starbursts.
