FIRE-VLA: Failure-Informed Self-Evolution for Vision-Language-Action Models in Autonomous Driving

Reinforcement learning improves autonomous-driving vision-language-action (VLA) models by evaluating trajectories sampled from the current policy. Group relative policy optimization (GRPO) learns from reward differences within each rollout group. When all sampled trajectories are poor, this relative signal can rank failures without identifying behavior outside the failed region. We introduce FIRE-VLA, a failure-informed self-evolution framework that converts such unresolved failures into privileged supervision for the next policy. Low-reward, low-diversity groups trigger self-distillation from a frozen round-start copy of the same model. Teacher and student have the same parameter scale, but only the teacher observes the hidden future trajectory. Supervision follows the student's generated prefix and is restricted to answer tokens, while GRPO remains active for every group. The updated policy supplies the teacher for the next round, allowing the routed failure distribution to change with the policy without requiring a larger external teacher. Starting from the same Qwen2.5-VL-3B SFT checkpoint, the comparison matches student rollout and policy-update counts. On 6,019 examples from 150 held-out nuScenes scenes, FIRE-VLA retains comparable single-sample planning, reduces G=4 mean L2 from 1.848 to 1.500 m, and lowers evaluation-persistent failure prevalence from 13.03% to 11.20%. The reduction in mean error arises mainly from rare severe rollouts rather than uniform improvement across ordinary trajectories.

When Do Fewer Visual Tokens Accelerate Multimodal Inference? A Break-Even Study Across Decision Locations and Hardware

Fewer visual tokens do not guarantee lower end-to-end latency. We evaluate break-even with a reproducible protocol that accounts for decision overhead, shared work, and the operators each policy can avoid. A stage-level decomposition reconciles these components with measured end-to-end latency. In a 30-example pilot, the two tested autoregressive probes remain slower than Full despite state reuse. A lightweight post-vision predictor yields paired confidence intervals below zero on RTX 3090 and A100 and remains significant after a conservative all-pairs Holm correction. A pre-vision image-size rule also yields intervals below zero on both GPUs, although neither comparison remains significant after the same correction. Pre-vision routing has a structural opportunity unavailable to post-vision pruning: it can avoid preprocessing and vision encoding. On A100, this opportunity outweighs a nearly eightfold larger downstream token reduction by the post-vision policy. Reported quality is conditional on examples answered correctly by Full and is not benchmark accuracy.

CIGPO: Contextual Information-Gain Policy Optimization for Multi-Turn Evidence-Reading LLM Agents

Training multi-turn evidence-reading agents with outcome-only reinforcement learning is unstable because intermediate turns receive little direct credit. In HotpotQA experiments with Qwen2.5-3B-Instruct, GRPO initially improves (standard F1 0.430) but subsequently collapses to 100% format-violating outputs. Training-log diagnosis reveals a zero-advantage lock-in mechanism: all sampled trajectories receive the minimum format penalty (-2.0), group-relative advantages vanish, and the policy-gradient loss becomes zero--an optimization deadlock. We propose a variance-injection strategy: by assigning per-turn rewards to intermediate evidence-reading turns, we prevent the group reward distribution from collapsing to a single value--preserving the variation that GRPO's group-relative advantage requires. Contextual Information-Gain Policy Optimization (CIGPO) implements this strategy using the marginal increase in the frozen reference model's log-likelihood of the ground-truth answer as the per-turn signal. With separate normalization of IG and F1 rewards and an IG-weight curriculum, CIGPO reaches a standard F1 of 0.518 on HotpotQA at the 3B scale (from 0.252 base; +105%), compared with 0.430 for the best GRPO checkpoint and 0.000 for the final GRPO checkpoint. CIGPO maintains meaningful reward variance and avoids zero-advantage lock-in throughout training. These results identify reward-variance collapse as a concrete failure mode of outcome-only GRPO and show that turn-level IG rewards can prevent it in this HotpotQA setting.

DreamX-World 1.0: A General-Purpose Interactive World Model

DreamX-World 1.0 is a general-purpose interactive text/image-to-video world model for controllable long-horizon generation. It supports camera navigation, revisits to previously observed regions, and promptable events across photorealistic, game-style, and stylized domains. Our data engine combines camera-accurate Unreal Engine rendering, action-rich gameplay recordings, and real-world videos with recovered camera geometry. For camera control, we introduce E-PRoPE, a lightweight variant of projective positional encoding that retains PRoPE's projective camera geometry while applying camera-aware attention to spatially reduced tokens. We convert a bidirectional video generator into a few-step autoregressive world model using causal forcing, DMD-style distillation, and long-rollout training. Training on self-generated long-horizon contexts exposes the model to its own generated history and reduces the style and color drift that accumulates across autoregressive chunks. Memory-Conditioned Scene Persistence retrieves earlier views through camera-geometry-based retrieval, while residual recycling makes the conditioning path less sensitive to imperfect memory latents. Event Instruction Tuning adds composable event control, and reinforcement learning alignment recovers camera control and visual quality after distillation. With mixed-precision DiT execution, residual reuse, 75\%-pruned VAE decoding, and asynchronous pipeline parallelism, DreamX-World 1.0 reaches up to 16\,FPS on eight RTX\,5090 GPUs. On our 5-second basic evaluation, DreamX-World 1.0 achieves a camera-control score of 73.75 and an overall score of 84.76, outperforming HY-WorldPlay 1.5 and LingBot-World in overall score, which achieve 80.79 and 80.45, respectively.

RISE: Reliable Improvement in Self-Evolving Vision-Language Models

Vision-language models (VLMs) have achieved strong multimodal reasoning capabilities, but further improving them still relies heavily on large-scale human-constructed supervision for post-training. Such supervision is costly to obtain, especially for reasoning-intensive multimodal tasks where questions, answers, and feedback signals must be carefully designed. This motivates self-evolving learning, where a model improves itself through a dual-role closed loop: a questioner autonomously poses questions and a solver learns to solve them. However, we observe that current VLM self-evolving methods still face three major challenges: coarse-grained role alternation delays the interaction between question generation and solver adaptation; generated questions can progressively degrade in quality; and question types may collapse toward a narrow distribution. These issues limit the efficiency and reliability of self-evolution. Thus, we propose \textbf{RISE}, a reliable self-evolving framework for vision-language models. RISE is built on three complementary designs: fine-grained role alternation, which shortens the feedback loop between the questioner and the solver to improve efficiency; a quality supervisor, which improves question validity and pseudo-label reliability; and skill-aware dynamic balancing, which mitigates mode collapse and maintains broad skill coverage during evolution. Together, these components enable more reliable and effective self-evolution from unlabeled images. Experiments on two VLM backbones across seven benchmarks show that RISE consistently improves the base models, yielding broad and sustained gains. Omni-WorldBench: Towards a Comprehensive Interaction-Centric Evaluation for World Models

Video--based world models have emerged along two dominant paradigms: video generation and 3D reconstruction. However, existing evaluation benchmarks either focus narrowly on visual fidelity and text--video alignment for generative models, or rely on static 3D reconstruction metrics that fundamentally neglect temporal dynamics. We argue that the future of world modeling lies in 4D generation, which jointly models spatial structure and temporal evolution. In this paradigm, the core capability is interactive response: the ability to faithfully reflect how interaction actions drive state transitions across space and time. Yet no existing benchmark systematically evaluates this critical dimension. To address this gap, we propose Omni--WorldBench, a comprehensive benchmark specifically designed to evaluate the interactive response capabilities of world models in 4D settings. Omni--WorldBench comprises two key components: Omni--WorldSuite, a systematic prompt suite spanning diverse interaction levels and scene types; and Omni--Metrics, an agent-based evaluation framework that quantifies world modeling capabilities by measuring the causal impact of interaction actions on both final outcomes and intermediate state evolution trajectories. We conduct extensive evaluations of 18 representative world models across multiple paradigms. Our analysis reveals critical limitations of current world models in interactive response, providing actionable insights for future research. Omni-WorldBench will be publicly released to foster progress in interactive 4D world modeling.

DiffStyle3D: Consistent 3D Gaussian Stylization via Attention Optimization

3D style transfer enables the creation of visually expressive 3D content, enriching the visual appearance of 3D scenes and objects. However, existing VGG- and CLIP-based methods struggle to model multi-view consistency within the model itself, while diffusion-based approaches can capture such consistency but rely on denoising directions, leading to unstable training. To address these limitations, we propose DiffStyle3D, a novel diffusion-based paradigm for 3DGS style transfer that directly optimizes in the latent space. Specifically, we introduce an Attention-Aware Loss that performs style transfer by aligning style features in the self-attention space, while preserving original content through content feature alignment. Inspired by the geometric invariance of 3D stylization, we propose a Geometry-Guided Multi-View Consistency method that integrates geometric information into self-attention to enable cross-view correspondence modeling. Based on geometric information, we additionally construct a geometry-aware mask to prevent redundant optimization in overlapping regions across views, which further improves multi-view consistency. Extensive experiments show that DiffStyle3D outperforms state-of-the-art methods, achieving higher stylization quality and visual realism.

Semi-supervised Text-based Person Search

Text-based person search (TBPS) aims to retrieve images of a specific person from a large image gallery based on a natural language description. Existing methods rely on massive annotated image-text data to achieve satisfactory performance in fully-supervised learning. It poses a significant challenge in practice, as acquiring person images from surveillance videos is relatively easy, while obtaining annotated texts is challenging. The paper undertakes a pioneering initiative to explore TBPS under the semi-supervised setting, where only a limited number of person images are annotated with textual descriptions while the majority of images lack annotations. We present a two-stage basic solution based on generation-then-retrieval for semi-supervised TBPS. The generation stage enriches annotated data by applying an image captioning model to generate pseudo-texts for unannotated images. Later, the retrieval stage performs fully-supervised retrieval learning using the augmented data. Significantly, considering the noise interference of the pseudo-texts on retrieval learning, we propose a noise-robust retrieval framework that enhances the ability of the retrieval model to handle noisy data. The framework integrates two key strategies: Hybrid Patch-Channel Masking (PC-Mask) to refine the model architecture, and Noise-Guided Progressive Training (NP-Train) to enhance the training process. PC-Mask performs masking on the input data at both the patch-level and the channel-level to prevent overfitting noisy supervision. NP-Train introduces a progressive training schedule based on the noise level of pseudo-texts to facilitate noise-robust learning. Extensive experiments on multiple TBPS benchmarks show that the proposed framework achieves promising performance under the semi-supervised setting.

Progressive Bilateral-Context Driven Model for Post-Processing Person Re-Identification

Most existing person re-identification methods compute pairwise similarity by extracting robust visual features and learning the discriminative metric. Owing to visual ambiguities, these content-based methods that determine the pairwise relationship only based on the similarity between them, inevitably produce a suboptimal ranking list. Instead, the pairwise similarity can be estimated more accurately along the geodesic path of the underlying data manifold by exploring the rich contextual information of the sample. In this paper, we propose a lightweight post-processing person re-identification method in which the pairwise measure is determined by the relationship between the sample and the counterpart's context in an unsupervised way. We translate the point-to-point comparison into the bilateral point-to-set comparison. The sample's context is composed of its neighbor samples with two different definition ways: the first order context and the second order context, which are used to compute the pairwise similarity in sequence, resulting in a progressive post-processing model. The experiments on four large-scale person re-identification benchmark datasets indicate that (1) the proposed method can consistently achieve higher accuracies by serving as a post-processing procedure after the content-based person re-identification methods, showing its state-of-the-art results, (2) the proposed lightweight method only needs about 6 milliseconds for optimizing the ranking results of one sample, showing its high-efficiency. PCA-SRGAN: Incremental Orthogonal Projection Discrimination for Face Super-resolution

Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) have been employed for face super resolution but they bring distorted facial details easily and still have weakness on recovering realistic texture. To further improve the performance of GAN based models on super-resolving face images, we propose PCA-SRGAN which pays attention to the cumulative discrimination in the orthogonal projection space spanned by PCA projection matrix of face data. By feeding the principal component projections ranging from structure to details into the discriminator, the discrimination difficulty will be greatly alleviated and the generator can be enhanced to reconstruct clearer contour and finer texture, helpful to achieve the high perception and low distortion eventually. This incremental orthogonal projection discrimination has ensured a precise optimization procedure from coarse to fine and avoids the dependence on the perceptual regularization. We conduct experiments on CelebA and FFHQ face datasets. The qualitative visual effect and quantitative evaluation have demonstrated the overwhelming performance of our model over related works.
