AuraSE: Low-Hallucination Generative Speech Enhancement via Multimodal Flow Matching and Inference Policy Optimization

Generative speech enhancement models can produce cleaner and more natural-sounding speech than conventional discriminative approaches, but may hallucinate by changing speech content or speaker identity, even with transcript conditioning. We present AuraSE, a flow-matching framework that addresses hallucination through complementary modality and inference designs. First, a double-stream-to-single-stream multimodal Diffusion Transformer (MMDiT) allows transcript and acoustic representations to interact while preserving a dedicated pathway for the degraded input. Second, we find that the best decoder configuration, governed by guidance scale, sampling temperature, and step count, varies substantially across utterances. This observation motivates Inference Policy Optimization (IPO), an online, on-policy preference optimization method. IPO generates multiple candidates from the current model under different inference configurations, ranks them with a multi-objective reward, and learns from their relative preferences. AuraSE-IPO ranks first on 11 of 12 metrics across the synthetic test sets and obtains the highest DNSMOS and blind-listening scores among the evaluated systems on the real DNS blind test set. At deployment, it uses a fixed $10$-step ODE decoder without classifier-free guidance (CFG) or per-utterance configuration search.

sPhinX: Sample Efficient Multilingual Instruction Fine-Tuning Through N-shot Guided Prompting

Despite the remarkable success of large language models (LLMs) in English, a significant performance gap remains in non-English languages. To address this, we introduce a novel approach for strategically constructing a multilingual synthetic instruction tuning dataset, sPhinX. Unlike prior methods that directly translate fixed instruction-response pairs, sPhinX enhances diversity by selectively augmenting English instruction-response pairs with multilingual translations. Additionally, we propose LANGIT, a novel N-shot guided fine-tuning strategy, which further enhances model performance by incorporating contextually relevant examples in each training sample. Our ablation study shows that our approach enhances the multilingual capabilities of Mistral-7B and Phi-3-Small improving performance by an average of 39.8% and 11.2%, respectively, across multilingual benchmarks in reasoning, question answering, reading comprehension, and machine translation. Moreover, sPhinX maintains strong performance on English LLM benchmarks while exhibiting minimal to no catastrophic forgetting, even when trained on 51 languages.

DUBLIN -- Document Understanding By Language-Image Network

Visual document understanding is a complex task that involves analyzing both the text and the visual elements in document images. Existing models often rely on manual feature engineering or domain-specific pipelines, which limit their generalization ability across different document types and languages. In this paper, we propose DUBLIN, which is pretrained on web pages using three novel objectives: Masked Document Text Generation Task, Bounding Box Task, and Rendered Question Answering Task, that leverage both the spatial and semantic information in the document images. Our model achieves competitive or state-of-the-art results on several benchmarks, such as Web-Based Structural Reading Comprehension, Document Visual Question Answering, Key Information Extraction, Diagram Understanding, and Table Question Answering. In particular, we show that DUBLIN is the first pixel-based model to achieve an EM of 77.75 and F1 of 84.25 on the WebSRC dataset. We also show that our model outperforms the current pixel-based SOTA models on DocVQA, InfographicsVQA, OCR-VQA and AI2D datasets by 4.6%, 6.5%, 2.6% and 21%, respectively. We also achieve competitive performance on RVL-CDIP document classification. Moreover, we create new baselines for text-based datasets by rendering them as document images to promote research in this direction.
