nvidia-pcm: A D-Bus-Driven Platform Configuration Manager for OpenBMC Environments

GPU-accelerated server platforms that share most of their hardware architecture often require separate firmware images due to minor hardware differences--different component identifiers, thermal profiles, or interconnect topologies. I built nvidia-pcm to eliminate that overhead. nvidia-pcm is a platform configuration manager for NVBMC, NVIDIA's OpenBMC-based firmware distribution, that enables a single firmware image to serve multiple platform variants. At boot, nvidia-pcm queries hardware identity data over D-Bus and exports the correct platform-specific configuration as environment variables. Downstream services read those variables without knowing or caring which hardware variant they are running on. The result is that platform differences are captured entirely in declarative JSON files, not in separate build artifacts. This paper describes the architecture, implementation, and deployment impact of nvidia-pcm, and shares lessons learned from solving the platform-identity problem at a deliberately minimal level of abstraction--prioritizing adoption simplicity over comprehensive hardware modeling.

Implementation of nlization framework for verbs, pronouns and determiners with eugene

UNL system is designed and implemented by a nonprofit organization, UNDL Foundation at Geneva in 1999. UNL applications are application softwares that allow end users to accomplish natural language tasks, such as translating, summarizing, retrieving or extracting information, etc. Two major web based application softwares are Interactive ANalyzer (IAN), which is a natural language analysis system. It represents natural language sentences as semantic networks in the UNL format. Other application software is dEep-to-sUrface GENErator (EUGENE), which is an open-source interactive NLizer. It generates natural language sentences out of semantic networks represented in the UNL format. In this paper, NLization framework with EUGENE is focused, while using UNL system for accomplishing the task of machine translation. In whole NLization process, EUGENE takes a UNL input and delivers an output in natural language without any human intervention. It is language-independent and has to be parametrized to the natural language input through a dictionary and a grammar, provided as separate interpretable files. In this paper, it is explained that how UNL input is syntactically and semantically analyzed with the UNL-NL T-Grammar for NLization of UNL sentences involving verbs, pronouns and determiners for Punjabi natural language.

Enabling Reusability in Agile Software Development

Software Engineering Discipline is constantly achieving momentum from past two decades. In last decade, remarkable progress has been observed. New process models that are introduced from time to time in order to keep pace with multidimensional demands of the industry. New software development paradigms are finding its place in industry such as Agile Software Development, Reuse based Development and Component based Development. But different software development models fail to satisfy many needs of software industry. As aim of all the process models is same, i.e., to get quality product, reduce time of development, productivity improvement and reduction in cost. Still, no single process model is complete in itself. Software industry is moving towards Agile Software Development. Agile development does not obviously fit well for building reusable artifacts. However, with careful attention, and important modifications made to agile processes, it may be possible to successfully adapt and put on agile methods to development of reusable objects. The model being proposed here combines the features of Agile Software Development and reusability.
