Optimal extraction with an impact on diffusion-jump pricing

We study an optimal extraction problem where the agent's actions in the spot market exert an additive proportional negative impact on the commodity price. The commodity price dynamics, prior to any activity by the agent, are evolved by a drifted Brownian motion with jumps. The agent's primary aim is to identify an optimal extraction strategy that maximizes their expected net profits.

Optimal Liquidation in a Defaultable Market

In this paper we address the problem of optimal liquidation of a large portfolio composed by securities exposed to default risk. The default time is described in terms of a Brownian motion representing the evolution of the value of the firm, whose assets are available in the market for investors. Considering that selling a large number of assets has a significant impact in the price, and hence in the portfolio's value, the control problem involved to describe the optimal strategy to liquidate a large position is analyzed. Under suitable assumptions in the model, an explicit solution is given to the value function and a precise description of the optimal strategy is obtained.

An Optimal Periodic Dividend and Risk Control Problem for an Insurance Company

We study the problem of optimal risk policies and dividend strategies for an insurance company operating under the constraint that the timing of shareholder payouts is governed by the arrival times of a Poisson process. Concurrently, risk control is continuously managed through proportional reinsurance. Our analysis confirms the optimality of a periodic-classical barrier strategy for maximizing the expected net present value until the first instance of bankruptcy across all admissible periodic-classical strategies.

On the Bailout Dividend Problem with Periodic Dividend Payments and Fixed Transaction Costs

We study the optimal bailout dividend problem with transaction costs for an insurance company, where shareholder payouts align with the arrival times of an independent Poisson process. In this scenario, the underlying risk model follows a spectrally negative Lévy process. Our analysis confirms the optimality of a periodic $(b_{1},b_{2})$-barrier policy with classical reflection at zero. This strategy involves reducing the surplus to $b_1$ when it exceeds $b_{2}$ at the Poisson arrival times and pushes the surplus to 0 whenever it goes below zero.

A mixed singular/switching control problem with terminal cost for modulated diffusion processes

In this paper, we study the regularity of the value function associated with a stochastic control problem where two controls act simultaneously on a modulated multidimensional diffusion process. The first is a switching control modelling a random clock. Every time the random clock rings, the generator matrix is replaced by another, resulting in a different dynamic for the finite state Markov chain of the modulated diffusion process. The second is a singular stochastic control that is executed on the process within each regime.

On the bailout dividend problem with periodic dividend payments for spectrally negative Markov additive processes

This paper studies the bailout optimal dividend problem with regime switching under the constraint that dividend payments can be made only at the arrival times of an independent Poisson process while capital can be injected continuously in time. We show the optimality of the regime-modulated Parisian-classical reflection strategy when the underlying risk model follows a general spectrally negative Markov additive process. In order to verify the optimality, first we study an auxiliary problem driven by a single spectrally negative \lev process with a final payoff at an exponential terminal time and characterise the optimal dividend strategy. Then, we use the dynamic programming principle to transform the global regime-switching problem into an equivalent local optimization problem with a final payoff up to the first regime switching time. The optimality of the regime modulated Parisian-classical barrier strategy can be proven by using the results from the auxiliary problem and approximations via recursive iterations.

On a mixed singular/switching control problem with multiples regimes

This paper studies {a} mixed singular/switching stochastic control problem for a multidimensional diffusion with multiples regimes on a bounded domain. Using probabilistic, partial differential equation (PDE) and penalization techniques, we show that the value function associated with this problem agrees with the solution to a Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation. In that way, we see that the regularity of the value function is $C^{0,1}\cap\W^{2,\infty}_{loc}$.

HJB equations with gradient constraint associated with controlled jump-diffusion processes

In this paper, we guarantee the existence and uniqueness (in the almost everywhere sense) of the solution to a Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation with gradient constraint and a partial integro-differential operator whose Lévy measure has bounded variation. This type of equation arises in a singular control problem, where the state process is a multidimensional jump-diffusion with jumps of finite variation and infinite activity. We verify, by means of ε-penalized controls, that the value function associated with this problem satisfies the aforementioned HJB equation.

Periodic strategies in optimal execution with multiplicative price impact

In this work we study the optimal execution problem with multiplicative price impact in algorithm trading, when an agent holds an initial position of shares of a financial asset. The inter-selling-decision times are modelled by the arrival times of a Poisson process. The criterion to be optimised consists in maximising the expected net present value of gains of the agent, and it is proved that an optimal strategy has a barrier form, depending only on the number of shares left and the level of asset price.
