$M(x)=o(x)$ Estimates for Beurling numbers

In classical prime number theory there are several asymptotic formulas said to be "equivalent" to the PNT. One is the bound $M(x) = o(x)$ for the sum function of the Moebius function. For Beurling generalized numbers, this estimate is not an unconditional consequence of the PNT. Here we give two conditions that yield the Beurling version of the $M(x)$ bound, and examples illustrating failures when these conditions are not satisfied.

Bounds for the logarithm of the Euler gamma function and its derivatives

We consider differences between $\log Γ(x)$ and truncations of certain classical asymptotic expansions in inverse powers of $x-λ$ whose coefficients are expressed in terms of Bernoulli polynomials $B_n(λ)$, and we obtain conditions under which these differences are strictly completely monotonic. In the symmetric cases $λ=0$ and $λ=1/2$, we recover results of Sonin, Nörlund and Alzer. Also we show how to derive these asymptotic expansions using the functional equation of the logarithmic derivative of the Euler gamma function, the representation of $1/x$ as a difference $F(x+1)-F(x)$, and a backward induction.

Generalized Euler constants

We define a family {$γ(P)$} of generalized Euler constants indexed by finite sets of primes $P$ and study their distribution. These arise from partial sums of reciprocals of integers not divisible by any prime in $P$. An apparent monotonicity is investigated. We also prove that a certain property of these numbers is equivalent to the Riemann Hypothesis.
