Weak Pseudo-Physical Measures and Pesin's Entropy Formula for Anosov C1 diffeomorphisms

We consider C1 Anosov diffeomorphisms on a compact Riemannian manifold. We define the weak pseudo-physical measures, which include the physical measures when these latter exist. We prove that ergodic weak pseudo-physical measures do exist, and that the set of invariant probability measures that satisfy Pesin's Entropy Formula is the weak*-closed convex hull of the ergodic weak pseudo-physical measures. In brief, we give in the C1-scenario of uniform hyperbolicity, a characterization of Pesin's Entropy Formula in terms of physical-like properties.

Pesin Entropy Formula for C1 Diffeomorphisms with Dominated Splitting

For any C1 diffeomorphism with dominated splitting we consider a nonempty set of invariant measures which describes the asymptotic statistics of Lebesgue-almost all orbits. They are the limits of convergent subsequences of averages of the Dirac delta measures supported on those orbits. We prove that the metric entropy of each of these measures is bounded from below by the sum of the Lyapunov exponents on the dominating subbundle. As a consequence, if those exponents are non negative, and if the exponents on the dominated subbundle are non positive, those measures satisfy the Pesin Entropy Formula.

Equilibrium States and SRB-like measures of C1 Expanding Maps of the Circle

For any C1 expanding map f of the circle we study the equilibrium states for the potential -log |f'|. We formulate a C1 generalization of Pesin's Entropy Formula that holds for all the SRB measures if they exist, and for all the (necessarily existing) SRB-like measures. In the C1-generic case Pesin's Entropy Formula holds for a unique SRB measure which is not absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue. The result also stands in the non generic case for which no SRB measure exists.

SRB-like measures for C0 dynamics

For any continuous map f on a compact manifold M, we define the SRB-like (or observable) probabilities as a generalization of Sinai-Ruelle-Bowen (i.e. physical) measures. We prove that f has observable measures, even if SRB measures do not exist. We prove that the definition of observability is optimal, provided that the purpose of the researcher is to describe the asymptotic statistics for Lebesgue almost every initial state. Precisely, the never empty set O of all the observable measures, is the minimal weak*-compact set of Borel probabilities in M that contains the limits (in the weak* topology) of all the convergent subsequences of the empiric probabilities for Lebesgue almost all x in M. We prove that any isolated measure in O is SRB. Finally we conclude that if O is finite or countable infinite, then there exist (up to countable many) SRB measures such that the union of their basins cover M Lebesgue a.e.

Rotation set and Entropy

In 1991 Llibre and MacKay proved that if $f$ is a 2-torus homeomorphism isotopic to identity and the rotation set of $f$ has a non empty interior then $f$ has positive topological entropy. Here, we give a converselike theorem. We show that the interior of the rotation set of a 2-torus $C^{1+ α}$ diffeomorphism isotopic to identity of positive topological entropy is not empty, under the additional hypotheses that $f$ is topologically transitive and irreducible. We also give examples that show that these hypotheses are necessary.

Simultaneous Continuation of Infinitely Many Sinks Near a Quadratic Homoclinic Tangency

We prove that the $C^3$ diffeomorphisms on surfaces, exhibiting infinitely many sinksnear the generic unfolding of a quadratic homoclinic tangency of a dissipative saddle, can be perturbed along an infinite dimensional manifold of $C^3$ diffeomorphisms such that infinitely many sinks persist simultaneously. On the other hand, if they are perturbed along one-parameter families that unfold generically the quadratic tangencies, then at most a finite number of those sinks have continuation.
