Growth rate measurements from a joint analysis of the large-scale galaxy clustering in Fourier and configuration space

In this work, we test a framework to perform the analysis of redshift-space distortions simultaneously in configuration and Fourier space. We test our methods with the AbacusSummit suite of N-body simulations as well as a more numerous set of approximate EZmocks, reproducing the sample of luminous red galaxies of from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) and its extension (eBOSS). Our clustering models are based on the effective field theory of large-scale structures in a Lagrangian frame, used in the latest results from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument. We perform a template type of analysis, including dilation parameters and the slope parameter from the ShapeFit framework. We find that the joint space inference yields unbiased and robust constraints on simulated datasets, consistent with results from individual spaces or previous methods to obtain consensus results. Our joint space analysis on the the BOSS+eBOSS LRG sample obtains $ fσ_8 = 0.463 \pm 0.052 $, in good agreement with the official 2020 results.

The Completed SDSS-IV extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: measurement of the BAO and growth rate of structure of the luminous red galaxy sample from the anisotropic correlation function between redshifts 0.6 and 1

We present the cosmological analysis of the configuration-space anisotropic clustering in the completed Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV (SDSS-IV) extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS) DR16 galaxy sample. This sample consists of luminous red galaxies (LRGs) spanning the redshift range $0.6 < z < 1$, at an effective redshift of $z_{\rm eff}=0.698$. It combines 174 816 eBOSS LRGs and 202 642 BOSS CMASS galaxies. We extract and model the baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) and redshift-space distortions (RSD) features from the galaxy two-point correlation function to infer geometrical and dynamical cosmological constraints. The adopted methodology is extensively tested on a set of realistic simulations. The correlations between the inferred parameters from the BAO and full-shape correlation function analyses are estimated. This allows us to derive joint constraints on the three cosmological parameter combinations: $D_M(z)/r_d$, $D_H(z)/r_d$ and $fσ_8(z)$, where $D_M$ is the comoving angular diameter distance, $D_H$ is Hubble distance, $r_d$ is the comoving BAO scale, $f$ is the linear growth rate of structure, and $σ_8$ is the amplitude of linear matter perturbations. After combining the results with those from the parallel power spectrum analysis of Gil-Marin et al. 2020, we obtain the constraints: $D_M/r_d = 17.65 \pm 0.30$, $D_H/r_d = 19.77 \pm 0.47$, $fσ_8 = 0.473 \pm 0.044$. These measurements are consistent with a flat $Λ$CDM model with standard gravity.

The SDSS-IV extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: Baryon Acoustic Oscillations at redshift of 0.72 with the DR14 Luminous Red Galaxy Sample

The extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS) Data Release 14 sample includes 80,118 Luminous Red Galaxies. By combining these galaxies with the high-redshift tail of the BOSS galaxy sample, we form a sample of LRGs at an effective redshift $z=0.72$, covering an effective volume of 0.9~Gpc$^3$. We introduce new techniques to account for spurious fluctuations caused by targeting and by redshift failures which were validated on a set of mock catalogs. This analysis is sufficient to provide a $2.6$\% measurement of spherically averaged BAO, $D_V(z=0.72) = 2353^{+63}_{-61} (r_d/r_{d,\rm{fid}}) h^{-1}$Mpc, at 2.8$σ$ of significance. Together with the recent quasar-based BAO measurement at $z=1.5$, and forthcoming Emission Line Galaxy-based measurements, this measurement demonstrates that eBOSS is fulfilling its remit of extending the range of redshifts covered by such measurements, laying the ground work for forthcoming surveys such as the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Survey and Euclid.

The Clustering of Galaxies in the Completed SDSS-III Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: Cosmic Flows and Cosmic Web from Luminous Red Galaxies

We present a Bayesian phase-space reconstruction of the cosmic large-scale matter density and velocity fields from the SDSS-III Baryon Oscillations Spectroscopic Survey Data Release 12 (BOSS DR12) CMASS galaxy clustering catalogue. We rely on a given $Λ$CDM cosmology, a mesh resolution in the range of 6-10 $h^{-1}$ Mpc, and a lognormal-Poisson model with a redshift dependent nonlinear bias. The bias parameters are derived from the data and a general renormalised perturbation theory approach. We use combined Gibbs and Hamiltonian sampling, implemented in the \textsc{argo} code, to iteratively reconstruct the dark matter density field and the coherent peculiar velocities of individual galaxies, correcting hereby for coherent redshift space distortions (RSD). Our tests relying on accurate $N$-body based mock galaxy catalogues, show unbiased real space power spectra of the nonlinear density field up to $k\sim0.2\, h$ Mpc$^{-1}$, and vanishing quadrupoles down to $r\sim20\,h^{-1}$ Mpc. We also demonstrate that the nonlinear cosmic web can be obtained from the tidal field tensor based on the Gaussian component of the reconstructed density field. We find that the reconstructed velocities have a statistical correlation coefficient compared to the true velocities of each individual lightcone mock galaxy of $r\sim0.68$ including about 10% of satellite galaxies with virial motions (about $r=0.75$ without satellites). The power spectra of the velocity divergence agree well with theoretical predictions up to $k\sim0.2\,h\,{\rm Mpc}^{-1}$. This work will be especially useful to improve, e.g. BAO reconstructions, kinematic Sunyaev-Zeldovich (kSZ), integrated Sachs-Wolfe (ISW) measurements, or environmental studies.

The clustering of galaxies in the SDSS-III Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: mock galaxy catalogues for the low-redshift sample

We present one thousand mock galaxy catalogues for the analysis of the Low Redshift Sample (LOWZ, effective redshift z ~ 10.32) of the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey Data Releases 10 and 11. These mocks have been created following the PTHalos method of Manera13 et al. (2013) revised to include new developments. The main improvement is the introduction of a redshift dependence in the Halo Occupation Distribution in order to account for the change of the galaxy number density with redshift. These mock catalogues are used in the analyses of the LOWZ galaxy clustering by the BOSS collaboration.
