Thermal leptogenesis in a 5D split fermion scenario with bulk neutrinos

We study the thermal leptogenesis in a hybrid model, which combines the so called split fermion model and the bulk neutrino model defined in five dimensional spacetime. This model predicts the existence of a heavy neutrino pair nearly degenerate in mass, whose decays might generate a CP violation large enough for creating the baryon asymmetry of the universe through leptogenesis. We investigate numerically the constraints this sets on the parameters of the model such as the size of the compactified fifth dimension.

Semi-exclusive DVCS

We consider Semi-Exclusive Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering, gamma* p \to gamma Y (SECS), where Y is an inclusive state of intermediate mass, Λ_QCD << m_Y << Q. When the photon is produced with a large transverse momentum k_T \sim m_Y the subprocess is hard and the struck quark fragments independently of the target spectators. Using completeness this allows to express the SECS cross section in terms of ordinary parton distributions. Apart from direct comparisons with data (yet to come) new information on Bloom-Gilman duality may be obtained through comparisons of resonance production via DVCS (gamma* p \to gamma N*) with the SECS scaling distribution in m_Y.

Light-cone Simulations: Evolution of dark matter haloes

We present a new fast method for simulating pencil-beam type light-cones, using the MLAPM-code (Multi Level Adaptive Particle Mesh) with light-cone additions. We show that by a careful choice of the light-cone orientation, it is possible to avoid extra periodicities in the light-cone. As an example, we apply the method to simulate a 6 Gpc deep light-cone, create the dark matter halo catalogue for the light-cone and study the evolution of haloes from $z=6$ up to the present time. We determine the spatial density of the haloes, their large-scale correlation function, and study the evolution of the mass function. We find a surprisingly simple relation for the dependence of halo maximum mass on redshift, and apply it to derive redshift limits for bright quasars.
