Exotic looped trajectories in double-slit experiments with matter waves

We study the observation of exotic looped trajectories in double-slit experiments with matter waves. We consider the relative intensity at $x=0$ as a function of the time-of-flight from the double-slit to the screen inside the interferometer. This allows us to define a fringe visibility associated to the contribution to the interference pattern given by exotic lopped trajectories. We demonstrate that the Sorkin parameter is given in terms of this visibility and of the axial phases which include the Gouy phase. We verify how this parameter can be obtained by measuring the relative intensity at the screen. We show that the effect of exotic looped trajectories can be significantly increased by simply adjusting the parameters of the double-slit apparatus. Applying our results to the case of neutron interferometry, we obtain a maximum Sorkin parameter of the order of $|κ_{max}|\approx0.2$, which is the value of the fringe visibility.

Entanglement between two scalar fields in an expanding spacetime

We study the evolution of the two scalar fields entangled via a mutual interaction in an expanding spacetime. We compute the logarithmic negativity to leading order in perturbation theory and show that for lowest order in the coupling constants, the mutual interaction will give rise to the survival of the quantum correlations in the limit of the smooth expansion. The results suggest that interacting fields can codify more information about the underlying expansion spacetime and lead to interesting observable effects.

Nonlocal single particle correlations and EPR state in the double-slit experiment

Quantum correlations of observables for two particle states have demonstrated the nonlocal character of the quantum mechanics. However nonlocality can be exhibited even for noncommuting observables of a single particle system. In this paper we show nonlocality of position-momentum correlations of a single particle in the double-slit experiment modeled by an initially correlated Gaussian wavepacket. The positivity or negativity of the Wigner function for the state of the particle at the detection screen is related with the $σ_{xp}$ covariances. A Bell's inequality is constructed from the Wigner function and it is violated for both the positive and negative cases. The case of positive Wigner function is the analogous of the original EPR state for a single particle.

Entanglement of self interacting scalar fields in an expanding spacetime

We evaluate self-interaction effects on the quantum correlations of field modes of opposite momenta for scalar $λϕ^4$ theory in a two-dimensional asymptotically flat Robertson-Walker spacetime. Such correlations are encoded both in the von-Neumann entropy defined through the reduced density matrix in one of the modes and in the covariance expressed in terms of the expectation value of the number operators for each mode in the evolved state. The entanglement between field modes carries information about the underlying spacetime evolution.

Momentum correlations of scattered particles in quantum field theory: one-loop entanglement generation

We compute the entanglement entropy variation between initial (separable or entangled in the momenta) and final states $\Delta S_E$ in an elastic scattering of a bipartite system composed by two interacting scalar particles. We perform a quantum field theoretical calculation to one loop order and verify that $\Delta S_E $ changes as we vary the energy of incoming particles and the coupling strength in a non-trivial way.

Gouy phase in non-classical paths in triple-slit interference experiment

We propose a simple model to study the Gouy phase effect in the triple-slit experiment in which we consider a non-classical path. The Gouy phase differs for classical or non-classical paths as it depends on the propagation time. In this case the Gouy phase difference changes the Sorkin parameter $κ$ used to estimate non-classical path contribution in a nontrivial way shedding some light in the implementation of experiments to detect non-classical path contributions.
