A Survey on the Applications of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Automated Driving Systems Test Scenario Generation Methods

Ensuring the safety and reliability of Automated Driving Systems (ADS) remains a critical challenge, as traditional verification methods such as large-scale on-road testing are prohibitively costly and time-consuming.To address this,scenario-based testing has emerged as a scalable and efficient alternative, yet existing surveys provide only partial coverage of recent methodological and technological advances. This review systematically analyzes 31 primary studies, and 10 surveys identified through a comprehensive search spanning 2015~2025;however,the in-depth methodological synthesis and comparative evaluation focus primarily on recent frameworks(2023~2025),reflecting the surge of Artificial Intelligent(AI)-assisted and multimodal approaches in this period.Traditional approaches rely on expert knowledge, ontologies, and naturalistic driving or accident data, while recent developments leverage generative models, including large language models, generative adversarial networks, diffusion models, and reinforcement learning frameworks,to synthesize diverse and safety-critical scenarios. Our synthesis identifies three persistent gaps:the absence of standardized evaluation metrics, limited integration of ethical and human factors, and insufficient coverage of multimodal and Operational Design Domain (ODD)-specific scenarios. To address these challenges, this review contributes a refined taxonomy that incorporates multimodal extensions,an ethical and safety checklist for responsible scenario design, and an ODD coverage map with a scenario-difficulty schema to enable transparent benchmarking.Collectively, these contributions provide methodological clarity for researchers and practical guidance for industry, supporting reproducible evaluation and accelerating the safe deployment of higher-level ADS.

Nuclear mass table in deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum: I. even-even nuclei

Ground-state properties of even-even nuclei with $8\le Z\le120$ from the proton drip line to the neutron drip line have been investigated using the deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum (DRHBc) with the density functional PC-PK1. With the effects of deformation and continuum included simultaneously, 2583 even-even nuclei are predicted to be bound. The calculated binding energies, two-nucleon separation energies, root-mean-square (rms) radii of neutron, proton, matter, and charge distributions, quadrupole deformations, and neutron and proton Fermi surfaces are tabulated and compared with available experimental data. The rms deviation from the 637 mass data is 1.518 MeV, providing one of the best microscopic descriptions for nuclear masses. The drip lines obtained from DRHBc calculations are compared with other calculations, including the spherical relativistic continuum Hartree-Bogoliubov (RCHB) and triaxial relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (TRHB) calculations with PC-PK1. The deformation and continuum effects on the limits of the nuclear landscape are discussed. Possible peninsulas consisting of bound nuclei beyond the two-neutron drip line are predicted. The systematics of the two-nucleon separation energies, two-nucleon gaps, rms radii, quadrupole deformations, potential energy curves, neutron densities, neutron mean-field potentials, and pairing energies in the DRHBc calculations are also discussed. In addition, the $α$ decay energies extracted are in good agreement with available data.

Stress Testing Method for Scenario Based Testing of Automated Driving Systems

Classical approaches and procedures for testing of automated vehicles of SAE levels 1 and 2 were based on defined scenarios with specific maneuvers, depending on the function under test. For automated driving systems (ADS) of SAE level 3+, the scenario space is infinite and calling for virtual testing and verification. However, even in simulation, the generation of safety-relevant scenarios for ADS is expensive and time-consuming. This leads to a demand for stochastic and realistic traffic simulation. Therefore, microscopic traffic flow simulation models (TFSM) are becoming a crucial part of scenario-based testing of ADS. In this paper, a co-simulation between the multi-body simulation software IPG CarMaker and the microscopic traffic flow simulation software (TFSS) PTV Vissim is used. Although the TFSS could provide realistic and stochastic behavior of the traffic participants, safety-critical scenarios (SCS) occur rarely. In order to avoid this, a novel Stress Testing Method (STM) is introduced. With this method, traffic participants are manipulated via external driver DLL interface from PTV Vissim in the vicinity of the vehicle under test in order to provoke defined critical maneuvers derived from statistical accident data on highways in Austria. These external driver models imitate human driving errors, resulting in an increase of safety-critical scenarios. As a result, the presented STM method contributes to an increase of safety-relevant scenarios for verification, testing and assessment of ADS.
