Quantum Thermodynamics applied for Quantum Refrigerators cooling down a qubit

We discuss a quantum refrigerator to increase the ground state probability of a target qubit whose energy difference between the ground and excited states is less than the thermal energy of the environment. We consider two types of quantum refrigerators: (1) one extra qubit with frequent pulse operations and (2) two extra qubits without them. These two types of refrigerators are evaluated from the viewpoint of quantum thermodynamics. More specifically, we calculate the heat removed from the target qubit, the work done for the system, and the coefficient of performance (COP), the ratio between the heat ant the work. We show that the COP of the second type outperforms that of the first type. Our results are useful to design a high-performance quantum refrigerator cooling down a qubit.

Quantum remote sensing under the effect of dephasing

The quantum remote sensing (QRS) is a scheme to add security about the measurement results of a qubit-based sensor. A client delegates a measurement task to a remote server that has a quantum sensor, and eavesdropper (Eve) steals every classical information stored in the server side. By using quantum properties, the QRS provides an asymmetricity about the information gain where the client gets more information about the sensing results than Eve. However, quantum states are fragile against decoherence, and so it is not clear whether such a QRS is practically useful under the effect of realistic noise. Here, we investigate the performance of the QRS with dephasing during the interaction with the target fields. In the QRS, the client and server need to share a Bell pair, and an imperfection of the Bell pair leads to a state preparation error in a systematic way on the server side for the sensing. We consider the effect of both dephasing and state preparation error. The uncertainty of the client side decreases with the square root of the repetition number $M$ for small $M$, which is the same scaling as the standard quantum metrology. On the other hand, for large $M$, the state preparation error becomes as relevant as the dephasing, and the uncertainty decreases logarithmically with $M$. We compare the information gain between the client and Eve. This leads us to obtain the conditions for the asymmetric gain to be maintained even under the effect of dephasing.

$A_4$ flavor symmetric model in SUSY SU(5) GUT

We propose a model with $A_4$ flavor symmetry for leptons and quarks in the framework of supersymmetric SU(5) grand unified theory (GUT). The running masses of quarks and charged leptons at GUT scale ($\sim 10^{16}$ GeV) are realized by the adjoint 24-dimensional Higgs multiplet and additional gauge singlet scalar fields including flavons. In this paper, we focus on a result of the quark and charged lepton masses and quark mixing since our present model is known to reproduce recent experimental results of the neutrino mass and oscillation. Those results are showed numerically.

Phenomenological Aspects of Possible Vacua of a Neutrino Flavor Model

We discuss a supersymmetric model with discrete flavor symmetry $A_4\times Z_3$. The additional scalar fields which contribute masses of leptons in the Yukawa terms are introduced in this model. We analyze their scalar potential and find that they have various vacuum structures. We show the relations among 24 different vacua and classify them into two types. We derive expressions of the lepton mixing angles, Dirac CP violating phase and Majorana phases for the two types. The model parameters which are allowed by the experimental data of the lepton mixing angles are different for each type. We also study the constraints on the model parameters which are related to Majorana phases. The different allowed regions of the model parameters for the two types are shown numerically for a given region of two combinations of the CP violating phases.

Precise discussion on T-asymmetry with B-meson decays

Through $B\bar{B}$ mixing system, one can construct an asymmetry which naively seems to be a time reversal (T) odd quantity. In this article, the two processes $(\mathrm{a})\: B_-\rightarrow \bar{B^0}$ and $(\mathrm{b})\: \bar{B^0}\rightarrow B_-$ are used to construct the event number asymmetry. The CP violation of Kaon system denoted as $ε_K$ contributes to observables and we evaluate the contribution from $ε_K$ explicitly. The asymmetry is formulated with phase convention independent parameters which are invariant under redefinition of phase of quark fields. The overall factors of the time dependent decay rates are taken into account in this article. Furthermore, we suggest conditions for the asymmetry to be a T-odd quantity. The one of such conditions arises due to the difference of overall factors which form the asymmetry.

Precise Discussion of Time-Reversal Asymmetries in B-meson decays

BaBar collaboration announced that they observed time reversal (T) asymmetry through $B$ meson system. In the experiment, time dependencies of two distinctive processes, $B_- \rightarrow \bar{B^0}$ and $\bar{B^0}\rightarrow B_-$($-$ expresses CP value) are compared with each other. In our study, we examine event number difference of these two processes. In contrast to the BaBar asymmetry, the asymmetry of events number includes the overall normalization difference for rates. Time dependence of the asymmetry is more general and it includes terms absent in one used by BaBar collaboration. Both of the BaBar asymmetry and ours are naively thought to be T-odd since two processes compared are related with flipping time direction. We investigate the time reversal transformation property of our asymmetry. Using our notation, one can see that the asymmetry is not precisely a T-odd quantity, taking into account indirect CP and CPT violation of K meson systems. The effect of $ε_K$ is extracted and gives rise to $\mathcal{O}(10^{-3})$ contribution. The introduced parameters are invariant under rephasing of quarks so that the coefficients of our asymmetry are expressed as phase convention independent quantities. Some combinations of the asymmetry enable us to extract parameters for wrong sign decays of $B_d$ meson, CPT violation, etc. We also study the reason why the T-even terms are allowed to contribute to the asymmetry, and find that several conditions are needed for the asymmetry to be a T-odd quantity.
