A CA Hybrid of the Slow-to-Start and the Optimal Velocity Models and its Flow-Density Relation

The s2s-OVCA is a cellular automaton (CA) hybrid of the optimal velocity (OV) model and the slow-to-start (s2s) model, which is introduced in the framework of the ultradiscretization method. Inverse ultradiscretization as well as the time continuous limit, which lead the s2s-OVCA to an integral-differential equation, are presented. Several traffic phases such as a free flow as well as slow flows corresponding to multiple metastable states are observed in the flow-density relations of the s2s-OVCA. Based on the properties of the stationary flow of the s2s-OVCA, the formulas for the flow-density relations are derived.

Exact Solutions and Flow--Density Relations for a Cellular Automaton Variant of the Optimal Velocity Model with the Slow-to-Start Effect

A set of exact solutions for a cellular automaton, which is a hybrid of the optimal velocity and the slow-to-start models, is presented. The solutions allow coexistence of free flows and jamming or slow clusters, which is observed in asymptotic behaviors of numerically obtained spatio-temporal patterns. An exact expression of the flow--density relation given by the exact solutions of the model agrees with an empirical formula for numerically obtained flow--density relations.

A hybrid of the optimal velocity and the slow-to-start models and its ultradiscretization

Through an extension of the ultradiscretization for the optimal velocity (OV) model, we introduce an ultradiscretizable traffic flow model, which is a hybrid of the OV and the slow-to-start (s2s) models. Its ultradiscrete limit gives a generalization of a special case of the ultradiscrete OV (uOV) model recently proposed by Takahashi and Matsukidaira. A phase transition from free to jam phases as well as the existence of multiple metastable states are observed in numerically obtained fundamental diagrams for cellular automata (CA), which are special cases of the ultradiscrete limit of the hybrid model.

Stochastic Process Associated with Traveling Wave Solutions of the Sine-Gordon Equation

Stochastic processes associated with traveling wave solutions of the sine-Gordon equation are presented. The structure of the forward Kolmogorov equation as a conservation law is essential in the construction and so is the traveling wave structure. The derived stochastic processes are analyzed numerically. An interpretation of the behaviors of the stochastic processes is given in terms of the equation of motion.

A Super-Integrable Discretization of the Calogero Model

A time-discretization that preserves the super-integrability of the Calogero model is obtained by application of the integrable time-discretization of the harmonic oscillator to the projection method for the Calogero model with continuous time. In particular, the difference equations of motion, which provide an explicit scheme for time-integration, are explicitly presented for the two-body case. Numerical results exhibit that the scheme conserves all the$(=3)$ conserved quantities of the (two-body) Calogero model with a precision of the machine epsilon times the number of iterations.

Supersymmetry in the Non-Commutative Plane

The supersymmetric extension of a model introduced by Lukierski, Stichel and Zakrewski in the non-commutative plane is studied. The Noether charges associated to the symmetries are determined. Their Poisson algebra is investigated in the Ostrogradski--Dirac formalism for constrained Hamiltonian systems. It is shown to provide a supersymmetric generalization of the Galilei algebra with a two-dimensional central extension.

Algebraic study on the $A_{N-1}$- and $B_N$-Calogero models with bosonic, fermionic and distinguishable particles

Through an algebraic method using the Dunkl--Cherednik operators, the multivariable Hermite and Laguerre polynomials associated with the $A_{N-1}$- and $B_N$-Calogero models with bosonic, fermionic and distinguishable particles are investigated. The Rodrigues formulas of column type that algebraically generate the monic non-symmetric multivariable Hermite and Laguerre polynomials corresponding to the distinguishable case are presented. Symmetric and anti-symmetric polynomials that respectively give the eigenstates for bosonic and fermionic particles are also presented by the symmetrization and anti-symmetrization of the non-symmetric ones. The norms of all the eigenstates for all cases are algebraically calculated in a unified way.

Rodrigues Formula for the Nonsymmetric Multivariable Laguerre Polynomial

Extending a method developed by Takamura and Takano, we present the Rodrigues formula for the nonsymmetric multivariable Laguerre polynomials which form the orthogonal basis for the $B_{N}$-type Calogero model with distinguishable particles. Our construction makes it possible for the first time to algebraically generate all the nonsymmetric multivariable Laguerre polynomials with different parities for each variable.

Symmetric Fock space and orthogonal symmetric polynomials associated with the Calogero model

Using a similarity transformation that maps the Calogero model into $N$ decoupled quantum harmonic oscillators, we construct a set of mutually commuting conserved operators of the model and their simultaneous eigenfunctions. The simultaneous eigenfunction is a deformation of the symmetrized number state (bosonic state) and forms an orthogonal basis of the Hilbert (Fock) space of the model. This orthogonal basis is different from the known one that is a variant of the Jack polynomial, i.e., the Hi-Jack polynomial. This fact shows that the conserved operators derived by the similarity transformation and those derived by the Dunkl operator formulation do not commute. Thus we conclude that the Calogero model has two, algebraically inequivalent sets of mutually commuting conserved operators, as is the case with the hydrogen atom. We also confirm the same story for the $B_{N}$-Calogero model.

New Non-Symmetric Orthogonal Basis for the Calogero Model with Distinguishable Particles

We demonstrate an algebraic construction of all the simultaneous eigenfunctions of the conserved operators for distinguishable particles governed by the Calogero Hamiltonian. Our construction is completely parallel to the construction of the Fock space for decoupled quantum harmonic oscillators. The simultaneous eigenfunction does not coincide with the non-symmetric Hi-Jack polynomial, which shows that the conserved operators derived from the number operators of the decoupled quantum harmonic oscillators are algebraically different from the known ones derived by the Dunkl operator formulation.

SO(4) Symmetry of the Transfer Matrix for the One-Dimensional Hubbard Model

The SO(4) invariance of the transfer matrix for the one-dimensional Hubbard model is clarified from the QISM (quantum inverse scattering method) point of view. We demonstrate the SO(4) symmetry by means of the fermionic R-matrix, which satisfy the graded Yang-Baxter relation. The transformation law of the fermionic L-operator under the SO(4) rotation is identified with a kind of gauge transformation, which determines the corresponding transformation of the fermionic creation and annihilation operators under the SO(4) rotation. The transfer matrix is confirmed to be invariant under the SO(4) rotation, which ensures the SO(4) invariance of the conserved currents including the Hamiltonian. Furthermore, we show that the representation of the higher conserved currents in terms of the Clifford algebra gives manifestly SO(4) invariant forms.

The Calogero Model: Integrable Structures and Orthogonal Basis

Integrability, algebraic structures and orthogonal basis of the Calogero model are studied by the quantum Lax and Dunkl operator formulations. The commutator algebra among operators including conserved operators and creation-annihilation operators has the structure of the W-algebra. Through an algebraic construction of the simultaneous eigenfunctions of all the commuting conserved operators, we show that the Hi-Jack (hidden-Jack) polynomials, which are an multi-variable generalization of the Hermite polynomials, form the orthogonal basis.

Orthogonal Symmetric Polynomials Associated with the Calogero Model

The Calogero model is a one-dimensional quantum integrable system with inverse-square long-range interactions confined in an external harmonic well. It shares the same algebraic structure with the Sutherland model, which is also a one-dimensional quantum integrable system with inverse-sine-square interactions. Inspired by the Rodrigues formula for the Jack polynomials, which form the orthogonal basis of the Sutherland model, recently found by Lapointe and Vinet, we construct the Rodrigues formula for the Hi-Jack (hidden-Jack) polynomials that form the orthogonal basis of the Calogero model.

Rodrigues Formula for Hi-Jack Symmetric Polynomials Associated with the Quantum Calogero Model

The Hi-Jack symmetric polynomials, which are associated with the simultaneous eigenstates for the first and second conserved operators of the quantum Calogero model, are studied. Using the algebraic properties of the Dunkl operators for the model, we derive the Rodrigues formula for the Hi-Jack symmetric polynomials. Some properties of the Hi-Jack polynomials and the relationships with the Jack symmetric polynomials and with the basis given by the QISM approach are presented. The Hi-Jack symmetric polynomials are strong candidates for the orthogonal basis of the quantum Calogero model.
