Method of fundamental solutions for the problem of doubly-periodic potential flow

In this paper, we propose a method of fundamental solutions for the problem of two-dimensional potential flow in a doubly-periodic domain. The solution involves a doubly-periodic function, to which it is difficult to give an approximation by the conventional method of fundamental solutions. We propose to approximate it by a linear combination of the periodic fundamental solutions, that is, complex logarithmic potential with sources in a doubly-periodic array constructed using the theta functions. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of our method.

A method of fundamental solutions for doubly-periodic potential flow problems using the Weierstrass elliptic function

In this paper, we propose a method of fundamental solutions for the problems of two-dimensional potential flow past a doubly-periodic array of obstacles. The solutions of these problems involve doubly-periodic functions, and it is difficult to apply the conventional method of fundamental solutions to approximate them. The method that we propose gives approximate solutions which is expressed by a linear combination of periodic fundamental solutions constructed using the Weierstrass elliptic functions, and it satisfies the periodicity that we expect. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of our method.

Numerical method of computing Hadamard finite-part integrals with a non-integral power singularity at the endpoint over a half infinite interval

In this paper, we propose a numerical method of computing an Hadamard finite-part integral, a finite value assigned to a divergent integral, with a non-integral power singularity at the endpoint on a half infinite interval. In the proposed method, we express a desired finite part integral using a complex integral, and we obtain the finite part integral by evaluating the complex integral by the DE formula. Theoretical error estimate and some numerical examples show the exponential convergence of the proposed method.

Numerical method for computing Hadamard finite-part integrals with a non-integral power singularity at an endpoint

In this paper, we propose a numerical method of computing a Hadamard finite-part integral with a non-integral power singularity at an endpoint, that is, a finite part of a divergent integral as a limiting procedure. In the proposed method, we express the desired finite-part integral using a complex loop integral, and obtain the finite-part integral by evaluating the complex integral by the trapezoidal formula. Theoretical error estimate and some numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A numerical method for Hadamard finite-part integrals with an integral power singularity at an endpoint

In this paper, we propose a numerical method for computing Hadamard finite-part integrals with an integral-power singularity at an endpoint, the part of the divergent integral which is finite as a limiting procedure. In the proposed method, we express the desired finite-part integral using a complex loop integral, and obtain the finite-part integral by evaluating the complex integral by the trapezoidal rule. Theoretical error estimate and some numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A numerical method of computing oscillatory integral related to hyperfunction theory

In this paper, we propose a numerical method of computing an integral whose integrand is a slowly decaying oscillatory function. In the proposed method, we consider a complex analytic function in the upper-half complex plane, which is defined by an integral of the Fourier-Laplace transform type, and we obtain the desired integral by the analytic continuation of this analytic function onto the real axis using a continued fraction. We also remark that the proposed method is related to hyperfunction theory, a theory of generalized functions based on complex function theory. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

An analog of the Sinc approximation for periodic functions

In this paper, we propose an interpolation formula for periodic functions. This formula can be regarded as an analog of the Sinc approximation, which is an interpolation formula for functions defined on the entire infinite interval. Theoretical error analysis and numerical examples show that the proposed formula converges exponentially for analytic periodic functions.

A numerical method of Fourier transform based on hyperfunction theory

In this paper, we propose a numerical method of Fourier transform based on hyperfunction theory. In the proposed method, we compute analytic functions called the defining functions, which give the desired Fourier transform as a hyperfunction, and then obtain the Fourier transform by the analytic continuation of the defining functions onto the real axis. Numerical examples show the efficiency of the proposed method compared to the previous methods.
