The Making of a Community Dark Matter Dataset with the National Science Data Fabric

Dark matter is believed to constitute approximately 85 percent of the universes matter, yet its fundamental nature remains elusive. Direct detection experiments, though globally deployed, generate data that is often locked within custom formats and non-reproducible software stacks, limiting interdisciplinary analysis and innovation. This paper presents a collaboration between the National Science Data Fabric (NSDF) and dark matter researchers to improve accessibility, usability, and scientific value of a calibration dataset collected with Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) detectors at the University of Minnesota. We describe how NSDF services were used to convert data from a proprietary format into an open, multi-resolution IDX structure; develop a web-based dashboard for easily viewing signals; and release a Python-compatible CLI to support scalable workflows and machine learning applications. These contributions enable broader use of high-value dark matter datasets, lower the barrier to entry for new collaborators, and support reproducible, cross-disciplinary research.

Measurement of Low Energy Nuclear Recoil Events with the phonon-mediated Voltage-Assisted Hybrid Detector for Rare Event Searches

The phonon-mediated hybrid detector is made out of a monolithic silicon crystal characterized by two interconnected regions linked through a narrow neck. Operating solely on phonon signal measurements, the hybrid design facilitates the differentiation between electron recoil and nuclear recoil events, effectively discerning two types of interaction down to low energy levels. With a newly implemented software triggering technique (SWT), low-energy nuclear recoil events of approximately $500~eV_{ee}$ have been measured. In addition to this, an electron recoil background reduction of up to $95\%$ has been successfully demonstrated.

A Search for Low-mass Dark Matter via Bremsstrahlung Radiation and the Migdal Effect in SuperCDMS

In this paper, we present a re-analysis of SuperCDMS data using a profile likelihood approach to search for sub-GeV dark matter particles (DM) through two inelastic scattering channels: bremsstrahlung radiation and the Migdal effect. By considering possible inelastic scattering channels, experimental sensitivity can be extended to DM masses that would otherwise be undetectable through the DM-nucleon elastic scattering channel, given the energy threshold of current experiments. We exclude DM masses down to $220~\textrm{MeV}/c^2$ at $2.7 \times 10^{-30}~\textrm{cm}^2$ via the bremsstrahlung channel. The Migdal channel search excludes DM masses down to $30~\textrm{MeV}/c^2$ at $5.0 \times 10^{-30}~\textrm{cm}^2$.

A simple technique for gamma ray and cosmic ray spectroscopy using plastic scintillator

A new and simple technique has been developed using plastic scintillator detectors for gamma ray and cosmic ray spectroscopy without single channel analyzer (SCA) or multichannel analyzer (MCA). In these experiments only a leading edge discriminator (LED) and NIM scalers have been used. Energy calibration of gamma spectra in plastic scintillators has been done using Co$^{60}$ and Cs$^{137}$ sources. The details experimental technique, analysis procedure and experimental results has been presented in this article.
