Duality between S^2 P^4 and the Double Quintic Symmetroid

We obtain homological properties of the second symmetric product of P^4 and the double cover of the symmetric determinantal quintic hypersurface in P^{14} (the double quintic symmetroids), which indicate the homological projective duality between (suitable noncommutative resolutions of) them. Among other things, we construct their good desingularizations and also (dual) Lefschetz collections in the derived categories of the desingularizations. These are expected to give (dual) Lefschetz decompositions of suitable noncommutative resolutions. The desingularization of the double quintic symmetroids also contains its interesting birational geometries.

Double quintic symmetroids, Reye congruences, and their derived equivalence

We consider Calabi-Yau threefolds Y defined as smooth linear sections of the double cover of the quintic symmetric determinantal hypersurface in P^{14}. In our previous works, we have shown that these Calabi-Yau threefolds Y are naturally paired with Reye congruence Calabi-Yau threefolds X, and X and Y have several interesting properties from the view point of mirror symmetry and projective geometry. In this paper, we prove the derived equivalence between Y and X.

Determinantal Quintics and Mirror Symmetry of Reye Congruences

We study a certain family of determinantal quintic hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{P}^{4}$ whose singularities are similar to the well-studied Barth-Nieto quintic. Smooth Calabi-Yau threefolds with Hodge numbers $(h^{1,1},h^{2,1})=(52,2)$ are obtained by taking crepant resolutions of the singularities. It turns out that these smooth Calabi-Yau threefolds are in a two dimensional mirror family to the complete intersection Calabi-Yau threefolds in $\mathbb{P}^{4}\times\mathbb{P}^{4}$ which have appeared in our previous study of Reye congruences in dimension three. We compactify the two dimensional family over $\mathbb{P}^{2}$ and reproduce the mirror family to the Reye congruences. We also determine the monodromy of the family over $\mathbb{P}^{2}$ completely. Our calculation shows an example of the orbifold mirror construction with a trivial orbifold group.

Mirror symmetry and projective geometry of Reye congruences I

Studying the mirror symmetry of a Calabi-Yau threefold $X$ of the Reye congruence in $\mP^4$, we conjecture that $X$ has a non-trivial Fourier-Mukai partner $Y$. We construct $Y$ as the double cover of a determinantal quintic in $\mP^4$ branched over a curve. We also calculate BPS numbers of both $X$ and $Y$ (and also a related Calabi-Yau complete intersection $\tilde X_0$) using mirror symmetry.

On blow-ups of the quintic del Pezzo 3-fold and varieties of power sums of quartic hypersurfaces

We construct new subvarieties in the varieties of power sums for certain quartic hypersurfaces. This provides a generalization of Mukai's description of smooth prime Fano threefolds of genus twelve as the varieties of power sums for plane quartics. In fact, in our second paper, we show that these quartics are exactly the Scorza quartics associated to general pairs of trigonal curves and ineffective theta characteristics and this enables us to prove there the main cojecture of Dolgachev and Kanev.

Spin curves and Scorza quartics

In the previous paper, we construct new subvarieties in the varieties of power sums for certain quartic hypersurfaces. In this paper, we show that these quartics coincide with the Scorza quartics of general pairs of trigonal curves and ineffective theta characteristics. Among other applications, we give an affirmative answer to the conjecture of Dolgachev and Kanev on the existence of the Scorza quartics for any general pairs of curves and ineffective theta characteristics. We also give descriptions of the moduli spaces of trigonal even spin curves. For curves of genus 4, we deepen this description in the next paper.

Scorza quartics of trigonal spin curves and their varieties of power sums

Our fundamental result is the construction of new subvarieties in the varieties of power sums for the Scorza quartic of any general pairs of trigonal curves and non-effective theta characteristics. This is a generalization of Mukai's description of smooth prime Fano threefolds of genus twelve as the varieties of power sums for plane quartics. Among other applications, we give an affirmative answer to the conjecture of Dolgachev and Kanev on the existence of the Scorza quartic for any general pairs of curves and non-effective theta characteristics.

The Existence of Gorenstein terminal fourfold flips

This is a revised version of my paper which appeared in J. Math. Sci. Univ. Tokyo. We prove that for a flipping contraction from a Gorenstein terminal 4-fold, the pull back of a general hyperplane section of the down-stair has only canonical singularities. Based on this fact and using Siu-Kawamata-Nakayama's extension theorem [Si], [Kaw4], [Kaw5] and [Nak2], we prove the existence of the flip of such a flipping contraction. Furthermore we classify such flipping contractions and the flips under some additional assumptions.

On classification of Q-Fano 3-folds with Gorenstein index 2 and Fano index 1/2

We obtain a classification of a Q-factorial Q-Fano 3-fold $X$ with the following properties: the Picard number of $X$ is 1; the Gorenstein index of $X$ is 2; the Fano index of $X$ is 1/2; $h^0 (-K_X) \geq 4$; there exists an index 2 point $P$ such that $(X,P)\simeq (\{xy +f(z^2,u)=0\} / \Bbb Z_2 (1,1,1,0), o)$ with $ord f(Z,U)=1$.
