Quantum Geometric Origin of Hall Viscosity and Nonlocal Hall Conductivity in Lattice Bands

We show that Hall viscosity in lattice bands is governed by a band-projected electric quadrupole encoded within the quantum geometry: Berry curvature sets the projected-coordinate algebra, while the quantum metric determines the quadrupolar spread of a wave packet. The same structure enters the quadratic wave-vector coefficient of the nonlocal Hall conductivity, yielding a lattice viscosity-conductivity relation. In ideal bands, the deviation from the Landau-level form is quantified by Berry curvature fluctuations. Our results establish the nonlocal Hall response as an electrical signature of the quantum geometry underlying Hall viscosity and as a transport diagnostic of geometric idealness.

Thermal Spin Polarization Driven by Nuclear Spin-Orbit Coupling in Neutron Star Pasta

We discuss anomalous spin polarization on the surface of nuclear pasta in a neutron star, driven by a nuclear spin-orbit interaction. We present an effective two-band model of surface-localized neutrons near the nuclear pasta. The central point is the emergence of a Rashba-type spin-orbit hybridization generated by the neutron--nucleus spin-orbit force in the presence of the strong density gradient normal to the pasta surface. Starting from a single-particle Hamiltonian with a central potential and a standard nuclear spin-orbit interaction, we show that the surface spin polarization occurs due to the thermal inhomogeneity even in the absence of a magnetic field. Our study links neutron-star physics and solid-state spintronics and would contribute to understanding the interplay between spin dynamics and strong magnetic fields.

Gyromagnetic Quantum Friction in Rayleigh Vorticity Baths

We identify an intrinsic zero-temperature relaxation channel for near-surface spins gyromagnetically coupled to Rayleigh-wave vorticity. This surface-mode contribution requires no thermal phonons, unlike Raman relaxation, and is fixed by Rayleigh vorticity rather than material-specific $g$-factor modulation. The Rayleigh-vorticity bath is super-Ohmic and evanescent with depth, producing field and depth scalings of spin relaxation. These scalings establish shallow spin sensors and hybrid surface-acoustic-wave spin interfaces as detectors of Rayleigh-wave acoustic quantum friction in solids.

Valley Hall Viscosity in Gapped Graphene with and without a Magnetic Field

Hall viscosity is conventionally defined through the stress response to time-dependent strain, a perturbation that is difficult to implement in solid-state experiments. We formulate a related viscoelastic response to static, spatially inhomogeneous electric fields and compare it with the strain-based response. For gapped graphene in a perpendicular magnetic field, the two formulations give the same Landau-level response, whose Hall viscosity is asymmetric between the two valleys. At zero magnetic field, a valley-even quantum-metric coefficient combines with the valley-odd Hall conductivity to produce equal and opposite valley-resolved responses; global time-reversal symmetry therefore forces the net Hall viscosity to vanish. In an insulating state, exact particle--hole symmetry eliminates this zero-field response, whereas particle--hole-symmetry breaking generates a cutoff-dependent geometric contribution from the occupied Fermi sea. These results connect valley-dependent viscoelasticity with electromagnetic response in gapped Dirac materials and clarify the conditions under which a valley Hall viscosity can arise.

Gyromagnetic Angular Momentum Interconversion in Neutron Stars

We propose a novel mechanism for angular momentum (AM) exchange between the crust and core of a neutron star (NS) via the gyromagnetic effect. Using extended hydrodynamics, we model the star by incorporating macroscopic AM and microscopic AM originating from neutron orbital and spin AM. We reveal that macroscopic dynamics in the crust can inform microscopic AM in the core leading to neutron spin polarization, and offer alternative scenario of (anti-)glitches. This work highlights the overlooked multi-scale AM interconversions in NS physics, paving the way for gyromagnetic astrophysics.

Directional propagation of quantum Hall viscous fluid by nano-structural engineering

We present a microscopic theory of the viscous electron fluid in the quantum Hall state based on the nonequilibrium Green's function method and the von Neumann lattice representation. This approach permits the formulation of hydrodynamic equations in the strong field regime that accommodates arbitrary boundary conditions. We demonstrate nonreciprocal transport resulting from the interplay between magnetic field-induced viscosity and device geometry in a notched system. Our results will offer a powerful tool for studying the nonperturbative effects of magnetic fields on electron viscous fluids.

Exploring $^3P_0$ Superfluid in Dilute Spin-Polarized Neutron Matter

We explore the theoretical possibility of $^3P_0$ neutron superfluid in dilute spin-polarized neutron matter, which may be relevant to the crust region of a magnetized neutron star. In such a dilute regime where the neutron Fermi energy is less than 1 MeV, the $^1S_0$ neutron superfluid can be suppressed by a strong magnetic field of the compact star. In the low-energy limit relevant for dilute neutron matter, the $^3P_0$ interaction is stronger than the $^3P_2$ one which is believed to induce the triplet superfluid in the core. We present the ground-state phase diagram of dilute neutron matter with respect to the magnetic field and numerically estimate the critical temperature of the $^3P_0$ neutron superfluid, which is found to exceed $10^7$ K.

Anisotropic spin-current spectroscopy of ferromagnetic superconducting gap symmetries

We develop a microscopic theory of tunneling spin transport at the magnetic interface between a ferromagnetic insulator and a ferromagnetic superconductor (FSC) driven by ferromagnetic resonance. We show that the spin susceptibilities of the FSC can be extracted from the spin currents by tuning the easy axis of the FSC, and thus the spin currents can be a probe for the symmetries of the spin-triplet Cooper pairing. Our results will offer a route to exploiting the synergy of magnetism and superconductivities for spin devices.

Calculation of magnon drag force induced by an electric current in ferromagnetic metals

Magnon drag effect induced by an applied electric field in ferromagnetic metals is theoretically studied by a microscopic calculation of the force on magnons arising from magnon emission/absorption and scattering due to driven electrons. It is shown that magnon scattering contribution dominates over the emission/absorption one in a wide temperature regime in good metals with long elastic lifetime $\taue$, as the latter has a relative suppression factor of $(\Deltasd\taue)^{-2}$ due to the electron spin flip by the magnon, where $\Deltasd$ is the $sd$ exchange interaction energy. Spin-transfer efficiency is discussed including the magnon drag effect.

Vorticity-induced anomalous Hall effect in electron fluid

We develop a hydrodynamic theory for an electron system exhibiting the anomalous Hall effect, and show that an additional anomalous Hall effect is induced by a vorticity generated near boundaries. We calculate the momentum flux and force proportional to the electric field using linear response theory. The hydrodynamic equation is obtained by replacing the local electric field with the electric current, focusing on a scale that is sufficiently larger than the mean free path. It is demonstrated that there is a coupling between a vorticity of an electric current and a magnetization which generates a pressure from non-uniform vorticity. Taking into account Hall viscosity and relaxation forces, a non-uniform flow near a boundary and an additional Hall force are calculated. The additional anomalous Hall force is opposite to conventional anomalous Hall force, resulting in a sign reversal in thin systems.

Hydrodynamic theory of chiral angular momentum generation in metals

We present a hydrodynamic theory to describe a chiral electron system with a Weyl spin-orbit interaction on a field-theoretic basis. Evaluating the momentum flux density as a linear response to a driving electric field, we derive an equation of motion for the orbital angular momentum. It is shown that the chiral nature leads to a dynamic bulk angular momentum generation by inducing a global torque as a response to the applied field. The steady state angular momentum is calculated taking account of rotational viscosity.
