The intersection of two real flag manifolds in a complex flag manifold

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for two real flag manifolds, which are not necessarily congruent, in a complex flag manifold to intersect transversally in terms of the symmetric triad. Then we show that the intersection of two real flag manifolds is antipodal. As an application, we prove that any real flag manifold in a complex flag manifold is a globally tight Lagrangian submanifold.

Minimal volume product of convex bodies with certain discrete symmetries and its applications

We give the sharp lower bound of the volume product of $n$-dimensional convex bodies which are invariant under a discrete subgroup $SO(K)=\{ g \in SO(n); g(K)=K \}$, where $K$ is an $n$-cube or $n$-simplex. This provides new partial results of Mahler's conjecture and its non-symmetric version. In addition, we give partial answers for Viterbo's isoperimetric type conjecture in symplectic geometry from the view point of Mahler's conjecture.

Minimal volume product of three dimensional convex bodies with various discrete symmetries

We give the sharp lower bound of the volume product of three dimensional convex bodies which are invariant under a discrete subgroup of $O(3)$ in several cases. We also characterize the convex bodies with the minimal volume product in each case. In particular, this provides a new partial result of the non-symmetric version of Mahler's conjecture in the three dimensional case.

Almost all standard Lagrangian tori in C^n are not Hamiltonian volume minimizing

In 1993, Y.-G. Oh proposed a problem whether standard Lagrangian tori in C^n are volume minimizing under Hamiltonian isotopies of C^n. In this article, we prove that most of them do not have such property if the dimension n is greater than two. We also discuss the existence of Hamiltonian non-volume minimizing Lagrangian torus orbits of compact toric Kahler manifolds.

Symplectic topology of Lagrangian submanifolds of CP^n with intermediate minimal Maslov numbers

We examine symplectic topological features of certain family of monotone Lagrangian submanifolds in CP^n. Firstly, we give a cohomological restriction for Lagrangian submanifolds in CP^n whose first integral homologies are 3-torsion. In particular, in the case where n=5,8, we prove the cohomologies with coefficients in Z_2 of such Lagrangian submanifolds are isomorphic to that of SU(3)/(SO(3) Z_3) and SU(3)/Z_3, respectively. Secondly, we calculate the Floer cohomology of a monotone Lagrangian submanifold SU(p)/Z_p in CP^{p^2-1} with coefficients in Z_2 by using Biran-Cornea's theory.

Lagrangian Floer homology of a pair of real forms in Hermitian symmetric spaces of compact type

In this paper we calculate the Lagrangian Floer homology $HF(L_0, L_1 : {\mathbb Z}_2)$ of a pair of real forms $(L_0,L_1)$ in a monotone Hermitian symmetric space $M$ of compact type in the case where $L_0$ is not necessarily congruent to $L_1$. In particular, we have a generalization of the Arnold-Givental inequality in the case where $M$ is irreducible. As its application, we prove that the totally geodesic Lagrangian sphere in the complex hyperquadric is globally volume minimizing under Hamiltonian deformations.

Geodesics of Hofer's metric on the space of Lagrangian submanifolds

We study geodesics of Hofer's metric on the space of Lagrangian submanifolds in arbitrary symplectic manifolds from the variational point of view. We give a characterization of length-critical paths with respect to this metric. As a result, we prove that if two Lagrangian submanifolds are disjoint then we cannot join them by length-minimizing geodesics.
