Existence of ground state solutions to Kirchhoff--Choquard system in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with nonconstant potentials

In this paper, we study the following linearly coupled Kirchhoff-Choquard system in $\mathbb{R}^3$: \begin{align*}\left\{\begin{array}{l} &-\left(a_1+b_1\int_{\mathbb{R}^3}|\nabla u|^2\,dx\right)Δu+V_1(x)u=μ(I_α*|u|^p)|u|^{p-2}u+λv,\quad x \in \mathbb{R}^3,\cr &-\left(a_2+b_2\int_{\mathbb{R}^3}|\nabla v|^2\,dx\right)Δv+V_2(x)v=ν(I_α*|v|^q)|v|^{q-2}v+λu,\quad x \in \mathbb{R}^3,\cr &u, v \in H^1(\mathbb{R}^3), \end{array}\right. \end{align*} where $a_1, a_2, b_1, b_2, λ, μ,$ and $ν$ are positive constants. When the potentials are constant functions, the author previously proved the existence of positive ground state solutions in the following cases: the noncritical case $\frac{3+α}{3}<p\le q<3+α$, the upper half critical case $\frac{3+α}{3}<p<q=3+α$, and the lower half critical case $\frac{3+α}{3}=p<q<3+α$, by using the Nehari-Pohozaev manifold method (NoDEA Nonlinear Differential Equations Appl.33(2026)). In the present paper, we extend these results to the case of nonconstant potentials. Under suitable assumptions on $V_1(x)$, $V_2(x)$, and $λ$, we prove the existence of nontrivial ground state solutions. In the noncritical and upper half critical cases, the main tools are Jeanjean's monotonicity trick and a global compactness lemma. For these cases, we establish a refined version of the splitting lemma by relaxing the standard growth assumption at the origin from $o(|t|)$ to the optimal $o(|t|^{α/3})$, thereby significantly broadening the applicable class of nonlinearities. In contrast, for the lower half critical case $p=\frac{3+α}{3}$, the splitting lemma is no longer valid. To overcome this essential difficulty, we obtain a ground state solution directly as a minimizer on the Nehari-Pohozaev manifold by imposing a slightly stronger condition on the potentials.

Existence of ground state solutions to Kirchhoff--Choquard system in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with constant potentials

In this paper, we consider the following linearly coupled Kirchhoff--Choquard system in $\mathbb{R}^3$: \begin{align*} \begin{cases} -\left(a_1 + b_1\int_{\mathbb{R}^3} |\nabla u|^2\,dx\right)Δu + V_1 u = μ(I_α * |u|^p) |u|^{p - 2} u + λv, \ \ x\in\mathbb{R}^3\\ -\left(a_2 + b_2\int_{\mathbb{R}^3} |\nabla v|^2\,dx\right)Δv + V_2 v = ν(I_α * |v|^q) |v|^{q - 2} v + λu,\ \ x\in\mathbb{R}^3 \\ u, v \in H^1(\mathbb{R}^3), \end{cases} \end{align*} where $a_1, a_2, b_1, b_2, V_1, V_2$, $λ$, $μ$ and $ν$ are positive constants. The function $I_α : \mathbb{R}^3 \setminus \{0\} \to \mathbb{R}$ denotes the Riesz potential with $α\in (0, 3)$. We study the existence of positive ground state solutions under the conditions $\frac{3 + α}{3} < p \le q < 3 + α$, or $\frac{3 + α}{3} < p < q = 3 + α$, or $\frac{3 + α}{3} = p < q < 3 + α$. Assuming suitable conditions on $V_1$, $V_2$, and $λ$, we obtain a ground state solution by employing a variational approach based on the Nehari--Pohozaev manifold, inspired by the works of Ueno (Commun. Pure Appl. Anal. 24 (2025)) and Chen--Liu (J. Math. Anal. 473 (2019)). In particular, we emphasize that in the upper half critical case $\frac{3 + α}{3} < p < q = 3 + α$ and the lower half critical case $\frac{3 + α}{3} = p < q < 3 + α$, a ground state solution can still be obtained by taking $μ$ or $ν$ sufficiently large to control the energy level of the minimization problem. To employ the Nehari--Pohozaev manifold we extend a regularity result to the linearly coupled system, which is essential for the validity of the Pohozaev identity.

A free boundary problem for the Fisher-KPP equation with a given moving boundary

We study free boundary problem of Fisher-KPP equation $u_t=u_{xx}+u(1-u),\ t>0,\ ct 0$ is a given constant, $h(t)$ is a free boundary which is determined by the Stefan-like condition. This model may be used to describe the spreading of a non-native species over a one dimensional habitat. The free boundary $x=h(t)$ represents the spreading front. In this model, we impose zero Dirichlet condition at left moving boundary $x=ct$. This means that the left boundary of the habitat is a very hostile environment and that the habitat is eroded away by the left moving boundary at constant speed $c$. In this paper we will give a trichotomy result, that is, for any initial data, exactly one of the three behaviours, vanishing, spreading and transition, happens. This result is related to the results appears in the free boundary problem for the Fisher-KPP equation with a shifting-environment, which was considered by Du, Wei and Zhou [11](arXiv:1508.06246). However the vanishing in our problem is different from that in [11] because in our vanishing case, the solution is not global-in-time.

Refined estimates for the propagation speed of the transition solution to a free boundary problem with a nonlinearity of combustion type

We are concerned with the nonlinear problem $u_t=u_{xx}+f(u)$, where $f$ is of combustion type, coupled with the Stefan-type free boundary $h(t)$. According to [4,5], for some critical initial data, the transition solution $u$ locally uniformly converges to $θ$, which is the ignition temperature of $f$, and the free boundary satisfies $h(t)=C\sqrt{t}+o(1)\sqrt{t}$ for some positive constant $C$ and all large time $t$. In this paper, making use of two different approaches, we establish more accurate upper and lower bound estimates on $h(t)$ for the transition solution, which suggest that the nonlinearity $f$ can essentially influence the propagation speed.
