Gaussian Shannon: High-Precision Diffusion Model Watermarking Based on Communication

Diffusion models generate high-quality images but pose serious risks like copyright violation and disinformation. Watermarking is a key defense for tracing and authenticating AI-generated content. However, existing methods rely on threshold-based detection, which only supports fuzzy matching and cannot recover structured watermark data bit-exactly, making them unsuitable for offline verification or applications requiring lossless metadata (e.g., licensing instructions). To address this problem, in this paper, we propose Gaussian Shannon, a watermarking framework that treats the diffusion process as a noisy communication channel and enables both robust tracing and exact bit recovery. Our method embeds watermarks in the initial Gaussian noise without fine-tuning or quality loss. We identify two types of channel interference, namely local bit flips and global stochastic distortions, and design a cascaded defense combining error-correcting codes and majority voting. This ensures reliable end-to-end transmission of semantic payloads. Experiments across three Stable Diffusion variants and seven perturbation types show that Gaussian Shannon achieves state-of-the-art bit-level accuracy while maintaining a high true positive rate, enabling trustworthy rights attribution in real-world deployment. Step 3.5 Flash: Open Frontier-Level Intelligence with 11B Active Parameters

We introduce Step 3.5 Flash, a sparse Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model that bridges frontier-level agentic intelligence and computational efficiency. We focus on what matters most when building agents: sharp reasoning and fast, reliable execution. Step 3.5 Flash pairs a 196B-parameter foundation with 11B active parameters for efficient inference. It is optimized with interleaved 3:1 sliding-window/full attention and Multi-Token Prediction (MTP-3) to reduce the latency and cost of multi-round agentic interactions. To reach frontier-level intelligence, we design a scalable reinforcement learning framework that combines verifiable signals with preference feedback, while remaining stable under large-scale off-policy training, enabling consistent self-improvement across mathematics, code, and tool use. Step 3.5 Flash demonstrates strong performance across agent, coding, and math tasks, achieving 85.4% on IMO-AnswerBench, 86.4% on LiveCodeBench-v6 (2024.08-2025.05), 88.2% on tau2-Bench, 69.0% on BrowseComp (with context management), and 51.0% on Terminal-Bench 2.0, comparable to frontier models such as GPT-5.2 xHigh and Gemini 3.0 Pro. By redefining the efficiency frontier, Step 3.5 Flash provides a high-density foundation for deploying sophisticated agents in real-world industrial environments.

Beyond Constant-Temperature Reservoirs: A Stirling Cycle with Constant Heat-Generation Rate

Conventional heat-engine models typically assume two heat reservoirs at fixed temperatures. In contrast, radioisotope power systems introduce a fundamentally different paradigm in which the hot sources supply heat at a constant generation rate rather than maintaining a constant temperature. We develop a theoretical framework for finite-time heat engines operating between constant heat-generation-rate hot sources and constant-temperature cold reservoirs. A universal proportion between average output power and efficiency is established, independent of the specific cycle configuration or working substance. As a representative case, we analyze a finite-time Stirling cycle employing a tailored control protocol that maintains the working substance at constant temperatures during the quasi-isothermal processes. An intrinsic oscillatory behavior emerges in the temperature dynamics of the hot source, reflecting the interplay between heat accumulation and release. We further quantify the long-term decline in engine performance resulting from radioactive decay and demonstrate its impact over the system's operational lifespan. This work establishes a new theoretical prototype for heat engines and shall provide guidings for the analysis and design of radioisotope power systems.

YOLO-FaceV2: A Scale and Occlusion Aware Face Detector

In recent years, face detection algorithms based on deep learning have made great progress. These algorithms can be generally divided into two categories, i.e. two-stage detector like Faster R-CNN and one-stage detector like YOLO. Because of the better balance between accuracy and speed, one-stage detectors have been widely used in many applications. In this paper, we propose a real-time face detector based on the one-stage detector YOLOv5, named YOLO-FaceV2. We design a Receptive Field Enhancement module called RFE to enhance receptive field of small face, and use NWD Loss to make up for the sensitivity of IoU to the location deviation of tiny objects. For face occlusion, we present an attention module named SEAM and introduce Repulsion Loss to solve it. Moreover, we use a weight function Slide to solve the imbalance between easy and hard samples and use the information of the effective receptive field to design the anchor. The experimental results on WiderFace dataset show that our face detector outperforms YOLO and its variants can be find in all easy, medium and hard subsets. Self-ordering induces multiple topological transitions for elastic waves in phononic crystals

Topological defects with symmetry-breaking phase transitions have captured much attention. Vortex generated by topological defects exhibits exotic properties and its flow direction can be switched by altering the spin configurations. Contrary to electromagnetic and acoustic domains, the topological transport of elastic waves in periodic structures with topological defects is not well explored due to the mode conversion between the longitudinal and transverse modes. Here, we propose an elastic topological insulator with spontaneously broken symmetry based on the topological theory of defects and homotopy theory. Multiple topological transitions for elastic waves are achieved by topologically modifying the ellipse orientation in a triangular lattice of elliptical cylinders. The solid system, independent of the number of molecules in order parameter space, breaks through the limit of the point-group symmetry to emulate elastic pseudospin-orbit coupling. The transport robustness of the edge states is experimentally demonstrated. Our approach provides new possibilities for controlling and transporting elastic waves.

Pressure-induced superconductivity in PrOxFeAs

Superconductivity with Tc of 45 K was realized in the tetragonal ZrCuSiAs-type PrOxFeAs (x=0.75) under heat treatment of 1300 oC and pressure of 6 GPa for 2 hours. Although the sample prepared at 900 oC in vaccum possessed the same phase as that treated in pressure, the electrical transport measurement showed the similar behavior with its parent ReOFeAs (Re: rare-earth metal). This pressure-induced superconductivity could give us a hint to understand the origins of the newly-found iron based superconductors.

Low temperature synthesis and pressure induced insulator-metal transition of the newly found NdFeAsO0.75

As low as 900 oC, iron-based layered quaternary compound NdFeAsO0.75 was synthesized through solid state reaction method. XRD measurements illustrate almost pure phase of tetragonal phase NdFeAsO was formed. The synthesis temperature in our experiment is the lowest among all the reported methods without the help of any mineralizer. After further treatment under high pressure of 6 GPa at temperature of 1300 oC for 2 hours, the electrical transport property of NdFeAsO0.75 was transformed from insulator-like to metal- like behavior.
