Beyond a Single Story: Meta-Reviewing Sparse and Incomplete User-generated Contents for Recommendation

Data sparsity remains a long-standing challenge in recommender systems, and it becomes more severe for methods relying on user-generated content (UGC) such as textual reviews, which capture fine-grained preferences but require more user efforts to produce. As a result, UGC exhibits (1) missing reviews, where interactions lack any review, and (2) incomplete reviews, where available reviews cover only a subset of relevant attributes. Existing approaches often overlook these UGC-specific issues, leading to degraded accuracy. Motivated by meta-review in academic peer review, we propose MOSAIC (Meta-review On Sparse And Incomplete user-generated Content), which constructs a meta-review for each target user by aggregating attribute-sentiment evidence from neighbor users' reviews. A multi-gate mixture-of-experts (MMoE) architecture jointly optimizes rating prediction and meta-review attribute-sentiment prediction, while an attention module personalizes the aggregated meta-review signals to each target user, yielding both refined rating predictions and attribute-level explanations. Experiments on four real-world datasets demonstrate that MOSAIC consistently outperforms state-of-the-art baselines in both recommendation accuracy and explanation quality, mitigating UGC sparsity and incompleteness while delivering consistent gains for users with limited interaction history.

Multi-label Text Classification using GloVe and Neural Network Models

This study addresses the challenges of multi-label text classification. The difficulties arise from imbalanced data sets, varied text lengths, and numerous subjective feature labels. Existing solutions include traditional machine learning and deep neural networks for predictions. However, both approaches have their limitations. Traditional machine learning often overlooks the associations between words, while deep neural networks, despite their better classification performance, come with increased training complexity and time. This paper proposes a method utilizing the bag-of-words model approach based on the GloVe model and the CNN-BiLSTM network. The principle is to use the word vector matrix trained by the GloVe model as the input for the text embedding layer. Given that the GloVe model requires no further training, the neural network model can be trained more efficiently. The method achieves an accuracy rate of 87.26% on the test set and an F1 score of 0.8737, showcasing promising results.

Auto-MVCNN: Neural Architecture Search for Multi-view 3D Shape Recognition

In 3D shape recognition, multi-view based methods leverage human's perspective to analyze 3D shapes and have achieved significant outcomes. Most existing research works in deep learning adopt handcrafted networks as backbones due to their high capacity of feature extraction, and also benefit from ImageNet pretraining. However, whether these network architectures are suitable for 3D analysis or not remains unclear. In this paper, we propose a neural architecture search method named Auto-MVCNN which is particularly designed for optimizing architecture in multi-view 3D shape recognition. Auto-MVCNN extends gradient-based frameworks to process multi-view images, by automatically searching the fusion cell to explore intrinsic correlation among view features. Moreover, we develop an end-to-end scheme to enhance retrieval performance through the trade-off parameter search. Extensive experimental results show that the searched architectures significantly outperform manually designed counterparts in various aspects, and our method achieves state-of-the-art performance at the same time.
