GAMERA-OP: A three-dimensional finite-volume MHD solver for orthogonal curvilinear geometries

We present GAMERA-OP (Orthogonal-Plus), a three-dimensional finite-volume magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) solver for orthogonal curvilinear geometries. The solver advances magnetic fields using constrained transport to preserve $\nabla\!\cdot\!\mathbf{B}=0$ to machine precision and employs geometry-consistent high-order reconstruction with an enhanced Partial Donor Cell method (e-PDM) that accounts for geometry curvature. Flexible numerics include various numerical fluxes and time integrators. In axial symmetric coordinates, angular momentum are preserved to round-off, and a ring-averaging treatment near the axis relaxes CFL constraints while maintaining divergence-free magnetic fields. Optional capabilities include the semi-relativistic (Boris) correction, background-field splitting, and an anisotropic MHD formulation. Rewritten in C, the code adopts a modular design that simplifies case setup and facilitates the addition of physics modules and coupling to other first-principles codes. Standard benchmarks across multiple geometries verify the code's high accuracy, low numerical diffusion, and robust handling of coordinate singularities and rotating flows. GAMERA-OP provides a practical, high-order framework for space and astrophysical plasma applications where orthogonal curvilinear coordinates and exact angular-momentum conservation are advantageous.

The Yin-Yang Magnetic Flux Eruption (Yin-Yang-MFE) Code: A Global Corona Magnetohydrodynamic Code with the Yin-Yang grid

We describe the numerical algorithms of a global magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) code utilizing the Yin-Yang grid, called the Yin-Yang Magnetic Flux Eruption (Yin-Yang-MFE) code, suitable for modeling the large-scale dynamical processes of the solar corona and the solar wind. It is a single-fluid MHD code taking into account the non-adiabatic effects of the solar corona, including the electron heat conduction, optically thin radiative cooling, and empirical coronal heating. We describe the numerical algorithms used to solve the set of MHD equations (with the semi-relativistic correction, or the Boris correction) in each of the partial spherical shell Yin Yang domains, and the method for updating the boundary conditions in the ghost-zones of the two overlapping domains with the code parallelized with the message passing interface (MPI). We validate the code performance with a set of standard test problems, and finally present a solar wind solution with a dipolar magnetic flux distribution at the solar surface, representative of solar minimum configuration.

Wakamatsu tilting subcategories and weak support tau-tilting subcategories in recollements

In this article, we prove that if (A, B, C) is a recollement of abelian categories, then Wakamatsu tilting (resp. weak support tau-tilting) subcategories in A and C can induce Wakamatsu tilting (resp. weak support tau-tilting) subcategories in B, and the converses hold under natural assumptions. As an application, we mainly consider the relationship of tau-cotorsion torsion triples in (A, B, C).

Gas Kinetic Schemes for Solving the Magnetohydrodynamic Equations with Pressure Anisotropy

In many astrophysical plasmas, the Coulomb collision is insufficient to maintain an isotropic temperature, and the system is driven to the anisotropic regime. In this case, magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) models with anisotropic pressure are needed to describe such a plasma system. To solve the anisotropic MHD equation numerically, we develop a robust Gas-Kinetic flux scheme for non-linear MHD flows. Using anisotropic velocity distribution functions, the numerical flux functions are derived for updating the macroscopic plasma variables. The schemes is suitable for finite-volume solvers which utilize a conservative form of the mass, momentum and total energy equations, and can be easily applied to multi-fluid problems and extended to more generalized double polytropic plasma systems. Test results show that the numerical scheme is very robust and performs well for both linear wave and non-linear MHD problems.
