Concurrent Kink and Sausage Waves in A Crescent Shaped Structure Over A Limb Prominence

A Crescent shaped prominence Structure (CS), over the solar west limb is studied using EIS/HINODE and AIA/SDO. First, the time varying positions of the top and below borders of the CS, along with its central axis are derived. Time evolutions of the Doppler shifts, and Line width of Fe~{\scriptsize \rm XII} 195.119 line are studied over the CS borders. Transverse kink oscillations are observed both in the Solar-Y direction and in the Doppler shifts over the observers' LOS. One explanation could be the oscillatory direction of the main kink wave build an angle with the observers LOS. This angle is calculated to be equal to 27 degrees for the CS top border. The main kink amplitude velocity and periods are obtained to be 5.3 $\rm km/s$, and 33.4 minutes, respectively. The anti-correlation observed between the brightness and thickness of the CS (with -178.1$^\circ$) suggests the presence of sausage modes with periods of 20.8 minutes. Based on the AIA imaging, it is suggested that the occurred jets and their afterward dimming are responsible to trigger the sausage mode. The average electron densities of the CS over the time of the study is obtained to be log($\rm n_e$)=9.3$\rm [cm^{-3}]$. The Alfvén velocity, magnetic field, and energy flux of the observed fast kink mode over the CS are estimated to be 16.7 $\rm km/s$, 2.79 $\rm G$, 41.93 $\rm W/m^2$. Considering the magnetic flux conservation inside the CS, expanding the CS cross section, causes the magnetic field to decay with the rate of $\rm 4.95 \times 10^{-4} \, G/sec$.

Capture rate of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) in binary star systems

The distribution of dark matter (DM) inside galaxies is not uniform. Near the central regions, its density is the highest. Then, it is logical to suppose that, inside galaxies, DM affects the physics of stars in central regions more than outer regions. Besides, current stellar evolutionary models did not consider DM effects in their assumptions. To consider the DM effects, at first one must estimate how much DM a star contains. The capture rate (CR) of DM particles by individual stars was investigated already in the literature. In this work, we discuss how CR can be affected when stars are members of binary star systems (BSS) (instead of studying them individually). When a star is a member of a BSS, its speed changes periodically due to the elliptical motion around its companion star. In this work, we investigated CR by BSSs in different BSS configurations. In the end, we discussed observational signatures that can be attributed to the DM effects in BSSs.

Period change of binary pulsars due to the accretion of dark matter particles

As binary systems move inside galaxies, they interact with the dark matter halo. This interaction leads to the accretion of dark matter particles inside binary components. The accretion of dark matter particles increases the mass of the binary components and then, the total mass of the system. Increased mass by this way can affect other physical parameters of the systems, like orbital periods of the systems. In this work, we estimated the period change of some known compact binary systems due to the accretion of dark matter particles inside them. Our conclustion is that, for WIMP particles with masses in the range $\simeq 10 \: GeV.c^{-2}$ and dark matter density as high as the dark matter density around the sun, period change due to accretion of dark matter partices is negligible compared to the period change due to the emission of gravitaional waves from the systems.

The Effect of Dark Matter on Stars at the Galactic Center: The Paradox of Youth Problem

Stars that evolve near the Galactic massive black hole show strange behaviors. The spectroscopic features of these stars show that they must be old. But their luminosities are much higher than the amounts that are predicted by the current stellar evolutionary models, which means that they must be active and young stars. In fact this group of stars shows signatures of old and young stars, simultaneously. This is a paradox known as the "paradox of youth problem" (PYP). Some people tried to solve the PYP without supposing dark matter effects on stars. But, in this work, we implemented Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) annihilation as a new source of energy inside such stars. This implementation is logical for stars that evolve at high dark matter density environments. The new source of energy causes stars to follow different evolutionary paths on the H-R diagram in comparison with classical stellar evolutionary models. Increasing dark matter density in stellar evolutionary simulations causes the deviations from the standard H-R diagrams becomes more pronounced. By investigating the effects of WIMPs density on stellar structures and evolutions, we concluded that by considering dark matter effects on stars at the Galactic center, it is possible to solve the PYP. In addition to dark matter effect, complete solutions to PYP must consider all extreme and unique physical conditions that are present near the Galactic massive black hole.

Torsional Alfven waves and the period ratio P_1/P_2 in spicules

The effects of both density stratification and magnetic field expansion on torsional Alfven waves in solar spicules are studied. Also, their eigenfrequencies, eigenfunctions, and the period ratio P_1/P_2 are obtained with a novel mathematical method. We showed that under some circumstances this ratio can approach its observational value even though it departs from its canonical value of $2$. Moreover, Eigenfunction height variations show that the oscillations amplitude are increasing towards higher heights which is in agreement with the observations. This means that with a little increase in height, amplitude of oscillations expands due to the significant decrease in the density.
