A note on quantum K-theory of root constructions

We consider K-theoretic Gromov-Witten theory of root constructions. We calculate some genus $0$ K-theoretic Gromov-Witten invariants of a root gerbe. We also obtain a K-theoretic relative/orbifold correspondence in genus $0$.

Virasoro Constraints for Toric Bundles

We show that the Virasoro conjecture in Gromov--Witten theory holds for the the total space of a toric bundle $E \to B$ if and only if it holds for the base $B$. The main steps are: (i) we establish a localization formula that expresses Gromov--Witten invariants of $E$, equivariant with respect to the fiberwise torus action, in terms of genus-zero invariants of the toric fiber and all-genus invariants of $B$; and (ii) we pass to the non-equivariant limit in this formula, using Brown's mirror theorem for toric bundles.

A Gromov-Witten theory for simple normal-crossing pairs without log geometry

We define a new Gromov-Witten theory relative to simple normal crossing divisors as a limit of Gromov-Witten theory of multi-root stacks. Several structural properties are proved including relative quantum cohomology, Givental formalism, Virasoro constraints (genus zero) and a partial cohomological field theory. Furthermore, we use the degree zero part of the relative quantum cohomology to provide an alternative mirror construction of Gross-Siebert and to prove the Frobenius structure conjecture of Gross-Hacking-Keel.

A mirror theorem for multi-root stacks and applications

Given a smooth projective variety $X$ with a simple normal crossing divisor $D:=D_1+D_2+...+D_n$, where $D_i\subset X$ are smooth, irreducible and nef. We prove a mirror theorem for multi-root stacks $X_{D,\vec r}$ by constructing an $I$-function, a slice of Givental's Lagrangian cone for Gromov--Witten theory of multi-root stacks. We provide three applications: (1) We show that some genus zero invariants of $X_{D,\vec r}$ stabilize for sufficiently large $\vec r$. (2) We state a generalized local-log-orbifold principle conjecture and prove a version of it. (3) We show that regularized quantum periods of Fano varieties coincide with classical periods of the mirror Landau--Ginzburg potentials using orbifold invariants of $X_{D,\vec r}$.

The local-orbifold correspondence for simple normal crossings pairs

For $X$ a smooth projective variety and $D=D_1+\ldots+D_n$ a simple normal crossings divisor, we establish a precise cycle-level correspondence between the genus zero local Gromov-Witten theory of the bundle $\oplus_{i=1}^n \mathcal{O}_X(-D_i)$ and the maximal contact Gromov-Witten theory of the multi-root stack $X_{D,\vec{r}}$. The proof is an implementation of the rank reduction strategy. We use this point of view to clarify the relationship between logarithmic and orbifold invariants.

Open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants of 3-dimensional Calabi-Yau smooth toric DM stacks

We study open-closed orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of 3-dimensional Calabi-Yau smooth toric Deligne-Mumford (DM) stacks (with possibly non-trivial generic stabilizers and semi-projective coarse moduli spaces) relative to Lagrangian branes of Aganagic-Vafa type. We present foundational materials of enumerative geometry of stable holomorphic maps from bordered orbifold Riemann surfaces to a 3-dimensional Calabi-Yau smooth toric DM stack with boundaries mapped into a Aganagic-Vafa brane. All genus open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants are defined by torus localization and depend on the choice of a framing which is an integer. We also provide another definition of all genus open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants based on algebraic relative orbifold Gromov-Witten theory; this generalizes the definition in Li-Liu-Liu-Zhou [arXiv:math/0408426] for smooth toric Calabi-Yau 3-folds. When the toric DM stack a toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifold (i.e. when the generic stabilizer is trivial), we define generating functions of open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants or arbitrary genus $g$ and number $h$ of boundary circles; it takes values in the Chen-Ruan orbifold cohomology of the classifying space of a finite cyclic group of order $m$. We prove an open mirror theorem which relates the generating function of orbifold disk invariants to Abel-Jacobi maps of the mirror curve of the toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifold. This generalizes a conjecture by Aganagic-Vafa [arXiv:hep-th/0012041] and Aganagic-Klemm-Vafa [arXiv:hep-th/0105045] (proved in full generality by the first and the second authors in [arXiv:1103.0693]) on the disk potential of a smooth semi-projective toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold.

A proof of all ranks S-duality conjecture for K3 surfaces

Using the multiple cover formula of Y. Toda for counting invariants of semistable twisted sheaves over twisted local K3 surfaces we calculate the $\SU(r)/\zz_r$-Vafa-Witten invariants for K3 surfaces for any rank $r$ for the Langlands dual group $\SU(r)/\zz_r$ of the gauge group $\SU(r)$. We generalize and prove the S-duality conjecture of Vafa-Witten for K3 surfaces in any rank $r$ based on the result of Tanaka-Thomas for the $\SU(r)$-Vafa-Witten invariants.

On multiple cover formula for local K3 gerbes

We generalize the multiple cover formula of Y. Toda (proved by Maulik-Thomas) for counting invariants for semistable coherent sheaves on local K3 surfaces to semistable twisted sheaves over twisted local K3 surfaces. The formula has an application to prove any rank S-duality conjecture for K3 surfaces.

On the finiteness of quantum K-theory of a homogeneous space

We show that the product in the quantum K-ring of a generalized flag manifold $G/P$ involves only finitely many powers of the Novikov variables. In contrast to previous approaches to this finiteness question, we exploit the finite difference module structure of quantum K-theory. At the core of the proof is a bound on the asymptotic growth of the $J$-function, which in turn comes from an analysis of the singularities of the zastava spaces studied in geometric representation theory. An appendix by H. Iritani establishes the equivalence between finiteness and a quadratic growth condition on certain shift operators.

Double ramification cycles on the moduli spaces of admissible covers

We derive a formula for the virtual class of the moduli space of rubber maps to $[\mathbb{P}^1/G]$ pushed forward to the moduli space of stable maps to $BG$. As an application, we show that the Gromov-Witten theory of $[\mathbb{P}^1/G]$ relative to $0$ and $\infty$ are determined by known calculations.

A Note on Disk Counting in Toric Orbifolds

We compute orbi-disk invariants of compact Gorenstein semi-Fano toric orbifolds by extending the method used for toric Calabi-Yau orbifolds. As a consequence the orbi-disc potential is analytic over complex numbers.

Higher genus relative and orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of curves

Given a smooth target curve $X$, we explore the relationship between Gromov-Witten invariants of $X$ relative to a smooth divisor and orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of the $r$-th root stack along the divisor. We proved that relative invariants are equal to the $r^0$-coefficient of the corresponding orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of $r$-th root stack for $r$ sufficiently large. Our result provides a precise relation between relative and orbifold invariants of target curves generalizing the result of Abramovich-Cadman-Wise to higher genus invariants of curves. Moreover, when $r$ is sufficiently large, we proved that relative stationary invariants of $X$ are equal to the orbifold stationary invariants in all genera. Our results lead to some interesting applications: a new proof of genus zero equality between relative and orbifold invariants of $X$ via localization; a new proof of the formula of Johnson-Pandharipande-Tseng for double Hurwitz numbers; a version of GW/H correspondence for stationary orbifold invariants.

Higher genus relative and orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants

Given a smooth projective variety $X$ and a smooth divisor $D\subset X$. We study relative Gromov-Witten invariants of $(X,D)$ and the corresponding orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of the $r$-th root stack $X_{D,r}$. For sufficiently large $r$, we prove that orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of $X_{D,r}$ are polynomials in $r$. Moreover, higher genus relative Gromov-Witten invariants of $(X,D)$ are exactly the constant terms of the corresponding higher genus orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of $X_{D,r}$. We also provide a new proof for the equality between genus zero relative and orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants, originally proved by Abramovich-Cadman-Wise \cite{ACW}. When $r$ is sufficiently large and $X=C$ is a curve, we prove that stationary relative invariants of $C$ are equal to the stationary orbifold invariants in all genera.
