Young functions on varifolds. Part I. Functional analytic foundations

The series of papers is devoted to the study of convergence for pairs of surfaces and smooth functions thereon. We model such pairs with varifolds and multiple-valued functions to capture their limits. In the present paper, we study Young functions, a measure-theoretic approach to multiple-valued functions, and the graph measures associated with pairs of measures (in particular, varifolds) and Young functions. This setting allows us to model the convergence of pairs of surfaces and functions thereon via the weak convergence of their associated graph measures, and a compactness theorem follows immediately. As a prerequisite for the concepts of differentiability for Young functions in the upcoming papers, we introduce and investigate several test function spaces.

Integral decompositions of varifolds

This paper introduces a notion of decompositions of integral varifolds into countably many integral varifolds, and the existence of such decomposition of integral varifolds whose first variation is representable by integration is established. Furthermore, this result can be generalized by replacing the class of integral varifolds by some classes of rectifiable varifolds whose density is uniformly bounded from below. However, such decomposition may fail to be unique.

Topics on Pedal Polygons

In this paper, we study several topics on pedal polygons. First, we prove the existence for pedal centers of triangles in a new way. From its proof, we find that the sum of area of outer and inner polygons is invariant under rotation. Finally, we investigate when a polygon will be a pedal polygon of another one.
