Implementation of ACTS into sPHENIX track reconstruction

sPHENIX is a high energy nuclear physics experiment under construction at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). The primary physics goals of sPHENIX are to study the quark-gluon-plasma, as well as the partonic structure of protons and nuclei, by measuring jets, their substructure, and heavy flavor hadrons in $p$$+$$p$, $p$+Au, and Au+Au collisions. sPHENIX will collect approximately 300 PB of data over three run periods, to be analyzed using available computing resources at BNL; thus, performing track reconstruction in a timely manner is a challenge due to the high occupancy of heavy ion collision events. The sPHENIX experiment has recently implemented the A Common Tracking Software (ACTS) track reconstruction toolkit with the goal of reconstructing tracks with high efficiency and within a computational budget of 5 seconds per minimum bias event. This paper reports the performance status of ACTS as the default track fitting tool within sPHENIX, including discussion of the first implementation of a time projection chamber geometry within ACTS.

Charmonium Production at Forward Rapidity in pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb Collisions, with ALICE

This contribution focuses on latest ALICE results on charmonium forward production in proton-proton (pp), proton-lead (p-Pb) and lead-lead (Pb-Pb) collisions at the TeV scale. In p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions, measurements are presented in the form of the charmonium nuclear modification factor (the properly normalized ratio of its production cross section in heavy ion collisions to its pp counterpart) as a function of the charmonium rapidity and transverse momentum. These measurements are compared to available theoretical calculations. Possible interpretations of these results in terms of gluon saturation, initial and final state energy loss, color screening and recombination are also discussed.

Heavy Quarkonia Production in Relativistic d+A and A+A collisions at RHIC, as Measured by the PHENIX Experiment

This contribution presents the latest results on heavy quarkonia (j/psi and upsilon) production in d+A and A+A collisions at RHIC at a center of mass energy per nucleon-nucleon collision sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV, measured by the PHENIX experiment, as well as their implications in terms of understanding cold nuclear matter effects and the possible formation of a quark gluon plasma in central $\auau$ collisions.}

Early times and thermalization in heavy ion collisions: a summary of experimental results for photons, light vector mesons, open and hidden heavy flavors

This contribution summarizes the main experimental results presented at the 2009 Quark Matter conference concerning single and dilepton production in proton and heavy ion collisions at high energy. The dilepton invariant mass spectrum has been measured over a range that extends from the $π^0$ mass to the $Υ$ mass, and for various collision energies at SPS, Fermilab, Hera and RHIC. This paper focuses on the various contributions (photons, low mass vector mesons, open and hidden heavy flavors) to this spectrum and discuss their implications on our understanding of the matter formed in heavy ion collisions.
