Katok-Hasselblatt-kinematic expansive flows

In this paper we introduce a new notion of expansive flows, which is the combination of expansivity in the sense of Katok and Hasselblatt and kinematic expansivity, named KH-kinematic expansivity. We present new properties of several variations of expansivity. A new hierarchy of expansive flows is given.

Expansiveness for the geodesic and horocycle flows on compact Riemann surfaces of constant negative curvature

We study expansive properties for the geodesic and horocycle flows on compact Riemann surfaces of constant negative curvature. It is well-known that the geodesic flow is expansive in the sense of Bowen-Walters and the horocycle flow is positive and negative separating in the sense of Gura. In this paper, we give a new proof of the expansiveness in the sense of Bowen-Walters for the geodesic flow and show that the horocycle flow is positive and negative kinematic expensive in the sense of Artigue as well as expansive in the sense of Katok-Hasselblatt but not expensive in the sense of Bowen-Walters. We also point out that the geodesic flow is neither positive nor negative separating.

A solution to Flinn's conjecture on weakly expansive flows

In L.W. Flinn's PhD thesis published in 1972, the author conjectured that weakly expansive flows are also expansive flows. In this paper we use the horocycle flow on compact Riemann surfaces of constant negative curvature to show that Flinn's conjecture is not true.

On 2-antiparallel encounters on factors of the hyperbolic plane

In this paper, we consider the geodesic flow on factors of the hyperbolic plane. We prove that a periodic orbit including a 2-antiparallel encounter has a partner orbit. We construct the partner orbit and give an estimate for the action different between the orbit pair. Then we apply the result to reprove the accuracy of Sieber/Richter's prediction in [Sieber and Richter, 2001].
