Cerenkov radiation of spinning particle

The Cerenkov radiation of a neutral particle with magnetic moment is considered, as well as the spin-dependent contribution to the Cerenkov radiation of a charged spinning particle. The corresponding radiation intensity is obtained for an arbitrary value of spin and for an arbitrary spin orientation with respect to velocity.

Passage of small black hole through the Earth. Is it detectable?

We examine the energy losses of a small black hole passing through the Earth, and in particular, the excitations created in the frequency range accessible to modern acoustic detectors. The dominating contributions to the effect are due to the coherent sound radiation of the Cherenkov type and to the conversion of black hole radiation into sound waves.

Spinning Relativistic Particles in External Fields

The motion of spinning relativistic particles in external electromagnetic and gravitational fields is considered. A simple derivation of the spin interaction with gravitational field is presented. The self-consistent description of the spin corrections to the equations of motion is built with the noncovariant description of spin and with the usual, ``naive'' definition of the coordinate of a relativistic particle.

Does Cosmological Term Influence Gravitational Lensing?

We analyze the bending of light by galaxies or clusters of galaxies in the presence of the cosmological term. Going over to the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker coordinates, used in fact for the description of actual observations, we demonstrate that the cosmological constant does not influence practically the lensing effect.

Can one detect passage of small black hole through the Earth?

The energy losses of a small black hole passing through the Earth are examined. In particular, we investigate the excitations in the frequency range accessible to modern acoustic detectors. The main contribution to the effect is given by the coherent sound radiation of the Cherenkov type.

Density of dark matter in Solar system and perihelion precession of planets

Direct relation is pointed out between the secular perihelion precession of a planet and the density of dark matter at its orbit. It is valid under the only assumption that the density is spherically-symmetric, with the center coinciding with the Sun. This relation, combined with the observational data on perihelion precession of planets, results in upper limits on local values of the dark matter density in the Solar system.

Is Radiation of Quantized Black Holes Observable?

If primordial black holes (PBH) saturate the present upper limit on the dark matter density in our Solar system and if their radiation spectrum is discrete, the sensitivity of modern detectors is close to that necessary for detecting this radiation. This conclusion is not in conflict with the upper limits on the PBH evaporation rate.

Upper limits on density of dark matter in Solar system

The analysis of the observational data for the secular perihelion precession of Mercury, Earth, and Mars, based on the EPM2004 ephemerides, results in new upper limits on density of dark matter in the Solar system.

Quasinormal modes for arbitrary spins in the Schwarzschild background

The leading term of the asymptotic of quasinormal modes in the Schwarzschild background, omega_n = - i n/2, is obtained in two straightforward analytical ways for arbitrary spins. One of these approaches requires almost no calculations. As simply we demonstrate that for any odd integer spin, described by the Teukolsky equation, the first correction to the leading term vanishes. Then, this correction for half-integer spins is obtained in a slightly more intricate way. At last, we derive analytically the general expression for the first correction for all spins, described by the Teukolsky equation.

Remark on Immirzi Parameter, Torsion, and Discrete Symmetries

We point out that the new interaction of spinning particles with the torsion tensor, discussed recently, is odd under charge conjugation and time reversal. This explains rather unexpected symmetry properties of the induced effective 4-fermion interaction.

Quantized Black Holes, Their Spectrum and Radiation

Under quite natural general assumptions, the following results are obtained. The maximum entropy of a quantized surface is demonstrated to be proportional to the surface area in the classical limit. The general structure of the horizon spectrum is found. The discrete spectrum of thermal radiation of a black hole Under quite natural general assumptions, the following results are obtained. The maximum entropy of a quantized surface is demonstrated to be proportional to the surface area in the classical limit. The general structure of the horizon spectrum is found. The discrete spectrum of thermal radiation of a black hole fits the Wien profile. The natural widths of the lines are much smaller than the distances between them. The total intensity of the thermal radiation is estimated. In the special case of loop quantum gravity, the value of the Barbero -- Immirzi parameter is found. Different values for this parameter, obtained under additional assumption that the horizon is described by a U(1) Chern -- Simons theory, are demonstrated to be in conflict with the firmly established holographic bound.

On shielding of nuclear electric dipole moments in atoms

We demonstrate explicitly that some recent calculations of atomic electric dipole moments (EDM) are incomplete. A contribution overlooked therein is pointed out. When included, it cancels exactly the result of those calculations, and thus restores the standard conclusions for nuclear EDM in atoms.

Radiation of Quantized Black Hole

The maximum entropy of a quantized surface is demonstrated to be proportional to the surface area in the classical limit. The general structure of the horizon spectrum and the value of the Barbero-Immirzi parameter are found. The discrete spectrum of thermal radiation of a black hole fits naturally the Wien profile. The natural widths of the lines are very small as compared to the distances between them. The total intensity of the thermal radiation is calculated.

Quantized black holes, correspondence principle, and holographic bound

An equidistant spectrum of the horizon area of a quantized black hole does not follow from the correspondence principle or from general statistical arguments. Such a spectrum obtained earlier in loop quantum gravity (LQG) does not comply with the holographic bound. This bound fixes the Barbero-Immirzi parameter of LQG, and thus leads to the unique result for the spectrum of horizon area.

Spectrum of quantized black hole, correspondence principle, and holographic bound

An equidistant spectrum of the horizon area of a quantized black hole does not follow from the correspondence principle or from general statistical arguments. On the other hand, such a spectrum obtained in loop quantum gravity (LQG) either does not comply with the holographic bound, or demands a special choice of the Barbero-Immirzi parameter for the horizon surface, distinct from its value for other quantized surfaces. The problem of distinguishability of edges in LQG is discussed, with the following conclusion. Only under the assumption of partial distinguishability of the edges, the microcanonical entropy of a black hole can be made both proportional to the horizon area and satisfying the holographic bound.
