Probing CPV mixing in the Higgs sector in VBF at 1 TeV ILC

With the current precision of measurements by the ATLAS and CMS experiments, it cannot be excluded that a SM-like Higgs boson is a CP violating mixture of CP-even and CP-odd states. We explore this possibility here, assuming Higgs boson production in ZZ-fusion, at 1 TeV ILC, with unpolarized beams. The full simulation of SM background and fast simulation of the signal is performed, simulating 8 ab$^{-1}$ of data collected with the ILD detector. We demonstrate that the CP mixing angle $Ψ_{\mathrm{CP}}$ between scalar and pseudoscalar states can be measured with the statistical uncertainty of 3.8 mrad at 68% CL, corresponding to 1.44 $\cdot 10^{-5}$ for the CP parameter $f_\mathrm{CP}$, for the pure scalar state. This is the first result on sensitivity of an $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider to measure $f_\mathrm{CP}$ in the Higgs production vertex in vector boson fusion.

Measurement of the CPV Higgs mixing angle in ZZ-fusion at 1 TeV ILC

Although the studies of tensor structure of the Higgs boson interactions with vector bosons and fermions at CMS and ATLAS experiments have established that the $J^{\mathrm{PC}}$ quantum numbers of the Higgs boson should be $0^{++}$, small CP violation in the Higgs sector (up to 10% contribution of the CP-odd state) cannot be excluded with the current experimental precision. We review possibilities to measure CP violating mixing angle $Ψ_{\mathrm{CP}}$ between scalar and pseudoscalar states, at a linear electron-positron collider, at center-of-mass energy of 1 TeV.

Measurement of the H to ZZ branching fraction at 350 GeV and 3 TeV CLIC

In this paper we investigate the prospects for measuring the branching fraction of the Standard Model Higgs boson decay into a pair of $Z$ bosons at the future Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) at 350 GeV and 3 TeV centre-of-mass energies. Studies are performed using a detailed simulation of the detector for CLIC, taking into consideration all relevant physics and beam-induced background processes. It is shown that the product of the Higgs production cross-section and the branching fraction BR(${H\rightarrow\thinspace ZZ^\ast}$) can be measured with a relative statistical uncertainty of 20% (3.0%) at a centre-of-mass energy of 350 GeV (3 TeV) using semileptonic final states, assuming an integrated luminosity of 1 ab$^{-1}$ (5 ab$^{-1}$).

CP violation in the Higgs sector at ILC

CP violation is one of Sakharov's conditions for the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. The experimentally observed size of CP violation is insufficient to account for this. Is CP violated in the Higgs sector? Could the SM-like Higgs boson be a mixture of CP even and CP odd states of an extended Higgs sector? With what precision could such effects be measured at future electron-positron colliders? These questions will be discussed in the light of the latest studies at ILC.

Measurement of the H to ZZ branching fraction at 350 GeV and 3 TeV CLIC

In this paper we present results of determination of the statistical precision of Higgs branching fraction measurement, for Higgs decay to ZZ$^\ast$ pairs at 3 TeV and 350 GeV CLIC. Measurements are simulated with the CLIC_ILD detector model, taking into consideration all relevant physics and beam-induced background processes. It is shown that the product of the branching fraction BR(${H\rightarrow\thinspace ZZ^\ast}$) and the Higgs production cross-section can be measured with a relative statistical uncertainty of 3% (18%) at 3 TeV (350 GeV) center-of-mass energy, using semileptonic final states and assuming integrated luminosity of 5 (1) ab$^{-1}$.

Higgs Physics at the CLIC Electron-Positron Linear Collider

The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is an option for a future e+e- collider operating at centre-of-mass energies up to 3 TeV, providing sensitivity to a wide range of new physics phenomena and precision physics measurements at the energy frontier. This paper is the first comprehensive presentation of the Higgs physics reach of CLIC operating at three energy stages: sqrt(s) = 350 GeV, 1.4 TeV and 3 TeV. The initial stage of operation allows the study of Higgs boson production in Higgsstrahlung (e+e- -> ZH) and WW-fusion (e+e- -> Hnunu), resulting in precise measurements of the production cross sections, the Higgs total decay width Gamma_H, and model-independent determinations of the Higgs couplings. Operation at sqrt(s) > 1 TeV provides high-statistics samples of Higgs bosons produced through WW-fusion, enabling tight constraints on the Higgs boson couplings. Studies of the rarer processes e+e- -> ttH and e+e- -> HHnunu allow measurements of the top Yukawa coupling and the Higgs boson self-coupling. This paper presents detailed studies of the precision achievable with Higgs measurements at CLIC and describes the interpretation of these measurements in a global fit.

Physics potential for the measurement of ${σ(Hν\barν)\times \text{BR}(H\rightarrowμ^+μ^-)}$ at the 1.4 TeV CLIC collider

The future Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) offers a possibility for a rich precision physics programme, in particular in the Higgs sector through the energy staging. This is the first paper addressing the measurement of the Standard Model Higgs boson decay into two muons at 1.4 TeV CLIC. With respect to similar studies at future linear colliders, this paper includes several novel contributions to the statistical uncertainty of the measurement. The later includes the Equivalent Photon Approximation and realistic forward electron tagging based on energy deposition maps in the forward calorimeters, as well as several processes with the Beamstrahlung photons that results in irreducible contribution to the signal. In addition, coincidence of the Bhabha scattering with the signal and background processes is considered, altering the signal selection efficiency. The study is performed using a fully simulated CLIC_ILD detector model. It is shown that the branching ratio for the Higgs decay into a pair of muons BR(${H\rightarrowμ^+μ^-}$) times the Higgs production cross-section in $WW$-fusion $σ(Hν\barν)$ can be measured with 38% statistical accuracy at ${\sqrt{s} =\text{1.4 TeV}}$, assuming an integrated luminosity of 1.5 ab$^{-1}$ with unpolarised beams. If 80% electron beam polarisation is considered, the statistical uncertainty of the measurement is reduced to 25%. Systematic uncertainties are negligible in comparison to the statistical uncertainty.

Measurement of ${σ(Hν_e\bar{ν_e})\times BR(H\rightarrow ZZ^\ast)}$ and Higgs production in $ZZ$ fusion at a 1.4 TeV CLIC collider

This paper presents the potential measurement at 1.4 TeV CLIC of the cross-section (times branching ratio) of the Higgs production via $WW$ fusion with the Higgs subsequently decaying in $ZZ^\ast$, ${σ(Hν_e\bar{ν_e})\times BR(H\rightarrow ZZ^\ast)}$, and of the Higgs production via $ZZ$ fusion with the Higgs subsequently decaying in $b\bar{b}$, ${σ(He{^+}e{^-})\times BR(H\rightarrow b\bar{b})}$. For the $H\rightarrow ZZ^\ast$ decay the hadronic final state, ${ZZ^\ast\rightarrow q\bar{q}q\bar{q}}$, and the semi-leptonic final state, ${ZZ^\ast\rightarrow q\bar{q}l^+l^-}$, are considered. The results show that ${σ(Hν_e\bar{ν_e})\times BR(H\rightarrow ZZ^\ast)}$ can be measured with a precision of 18.3% and 6% for the hadronic and semi-leptonic channel, respectively. ${σ(He{^+}e{^-})\times BR(H\rightarrow b\bar{b})}$ can be measured with a precision of 1.7%. This measurement also contributes to the determination of the Higgs coupling to the $Z$ boson, $g_{H_{ZZ}}$.

Physics potential for the measurement of sigma(Hvv)*BR(H->mu+mu-) at a 1.4 TeV CLIC collider

The potential for the measurement of the branching ratio of the Standard Model-like Higgs boson decay into a mu+mu- pair at 1.4 TeV CLIC is analysed. The study is performed using the fully simulated CLIC_ILD detector concept, taking into consideration all the relevant physics and the beam-induced backgrounds. Despite the very low branching ratio of the H->mu+mu- decay, we show that the product of the branching ratio times the Higgs production cross section can be measured with a statistical uncertainty of 38 percent, assuming an integrated luminosity of 1.5 ab^-1 collected in five years of the detector operation at the 1.4 TeV CLIC with unpolarised beams. With polarised beams (-80%, +30%), the statistical uncertainty is better than 25%.
