Orthogonal polynomial solutions to the non-central modified Kratzer potential

We investigate the analytical solution of a new exactly solvable non-central potential of $V(r,θ) = D({\frac{r - a}{r}})^2+{\fracβ{r^2\sin^2 θ}}+{\frac{γ\cos θ}{r^2\sin^2 θ}}$ type, which may be called as the modified non-central Kratzer potential. The energy eigenvalues as well as the corresponding eigenfunctions are calculated for various values of $n$ and $m$ quantum numbers within the framework of the Nikiforov-Uvarov and Asymtotic Iteration Methods for the $CO$ diatomic molecule as an application of this potential. In this paper, we first present the effect of the non-central term on the bound-state energy eigenvalues: this effect is determined explicitly for different $n$ and $m$ quantum numbers with $β=γ$=0.0, 0.1, 1.0 and 5.0 values and the results are compared with the findings of the modified Kratzer potential for different $n$ and $l$ quantum numbers. Then, we show that the angle-dependent non-central part behaves like a centrifugal barrier and it reduces the depth of the attractive potential pocket, which effects the bound-state energy eigenvalues.

Higher Twist Effects in Photon-Photon Collisions

In this article, we investigate the contribution of the high twist Feynman diagrams to the large $p_{T}$ single pseudoscalar and vector mesons inclusive production cross section in two-photon collisions and we present the general formulae for the high and leading twist differential cross sections. The pion wave function where two non-trivial Gegenbauer coefficients $a_2$ and $a_4$ have been extracted from the CLEO data, Braun-Filyanov pion wave function, the asymptotic and the Chernyak-Zhitnitsky wave functions are used in the calculations. For $ρ$-meson we used Ball-Braun wave function. The results of all the calculations reveal that the high twist cross sections, the ratio R, the dependence transverse momentum $p_{T}$ and the rapidity $y$ of meson in $Φ_{CLEO}(x,Q^2)$ wave function case is very close to the $Φ_{asy}(x)$ asymptotic wave function case. It is shown that the high twist contribution to the cross section depends on the choice of the meson wave functions.

Investigation of the nuetralino pair production at LHC

In this article, we investigate the Drell-Yan process of the light neutralino pair $\widetildeχ_{i}^{0}\widetildeχ_{j}^{0}$ ($i,j=1,2$) productions at proton-proton collisions and we present the general formulate for the differential cross sections. We conduct an extensive examination of the dependence of the total cross section of the subprocesses $q \bar q \to \widetilde χ_{i}^{0}\widetildeχ_{j}^{0}$ on the beam energy, on the mass of the squarks and also on the $M_2$ gaugino for the three extremely different scenarios. For all three cases, the outcomes are as follows. The dependence of the total cross section of the subprocesses $q \bar q \to \widetilde χ_{i}^{0} \widetilde χ_{j}^{0}$ on the beam energy is dominated by one of the subprocesses, $q \bar q \to \widetilde χ_{1}^{0} \widetilde χ_{2}^{0}$. On the other hand, the dependence of the total cross section of the subprocesses $q \bar q \to \widetilde χ_{i}^{0} \widetilde χ_{j}^{0}$ on the mass of the squarks is dominated by one of the subprocesses, $q \bar q \to \widetilde χ_{1}^{0} \widetilde χ_{2}^{0}$. We derive there from that our findings may lead to new insights relating to experimental investigations and these dependencies may be used as bases of an experimental research for the neutralino pair at LHC.

Any $l$-state solutions of the Hulthén potential by the asymptotic iteration method

In this article, we present the analytical solution of the radial Schrödinger equation for the Hulthén potential within the framework of the asymptotic iteration method by using an approximation to the centrifugal potential for any $l$ states. We obtain the energy eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions for different screening parameters. The wave functions are physical and energy eigenvalues are in good agreement with the results obtained by other methods for different $δ$ values. In order to demonstrate this, the results of the asymptotic iteration method are compared with the results of the supersymmetry, the numerical integration, the variational and the shifted 1/N expansion methods.

Higher Twist Effects in Proton-Proton Collisions

In this article, we investigate the contribution of the high twist Feynman diagrams to the large-$p_T$ pion production cross section in proton-proton collisions and we present the general formulae for the high and leading twist differential cross sections. The pion wave function where two non-trivial Gegenbauer coefficients $a_2$ and $a_4$ have been extracted from the CLEO data, two other pion model wave functions, $P_2$, $P_3$, the asymptotic and the Chernyak-Zhitnitsky wave functions are used in the calculations. The results of all the calculations reveal that the high twist cross sections, the ratios $R$, $r$, the dependence transverse momentum $p_T$ and the rapidity $y$ of pion in the $Φ_{CLEO}(x,Q^2)$ wave function case is very close to the $Φ_{asy}(x)$ asymptotic wave function case. It is shown that the high twist contribution to the cross section depends on the choice of the meson wave functions.

Failure of the Standard Coupled-Channels Method in Describing the Inelastic Reaction Data: On the Use of a New Shape for the Coupling Potential

We present the failure of the standard coupled-channels method in explaining the inelastic scattering together with other observables such as elastic scattering, excitation function and fusion data. We use both microscopic double-folding and phenomenological deep potentials with shallow imaginary components. We argue that the solution of the problems for the inelastic scattering data is not related to the central nuclear potential, but to the coupling potential between excited states. We present that these problems can be addressed in a systematic way by using a different shape for the coupling potential instead of the usual one based on Taylor expansion.

Global Examination of the $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C Reaction Data at Low and Intermediate Energies

We examine the $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C elastic scattering over a wide energy range from 32.0 to 70.7 MeV in the laboratory system within the framework of the Optical model and the Coupled-Channels formalism. The $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C system has been extensively studied within and over this energy range in the past. These efforts have been futile in determining the shape of the nuclear potential in the low energy region and in describing the individual angular distributions, single-angle 50$^{0}$ to 90$^{0}$ excitation functions and reaction cross-section data simultaneously. In order to address these problems systematically, we propose a potential that belongs to a family other than the one used to describe higher energy experimental data and show that it is possible to use it over this wide energy range. This potential also predicts the resonances at correct energies with reasonable widths.

Asymptotic Iteration Method Solutions to the Relativistic Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau Equation

A simple exact analytical solution of the relativistic Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau equation within the framework of the asymptotic iteration method is presented. Exact bound state energy eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions are determined for the relativistic harmonic oscillator as well as the Coulomb potentials. As a non-trivial example, the anharmonic oscillator is solved and the energy eigenvalues are obtained within the perturbation theory using the asymptotic iteration method.

Arbitrary l-state solutions of the rotating Morse potential by the asymptotic iteration method

For non-zero $\ell$ values, we present an analytical solution of the radial Schrödinger equation for the rotating Morse potential using the Pekeris approximation within the framework of the Asymptotic Iteration Method. The bound state energy eigenvalues and corresponding wave functions are obtained for a number of diatomic molecules and the results are compared with the findings of the super-symmetry, the hypervirial perturbation, the Nikiforov-Uvarov, the variational, the shifted 1/N and the modified shifted 1/N expansion methods.

$α$-$α$ Double Folding Cluster Potential Description of the $^{12}$C+$^{24}$Mg System

We present a simultaneous analysis of the elastic scattering and fusion cross-section data of the $^{12}$C+$^{24}$Mg system around the Coulomb barrier and over energies by using the microscopic $α$-$α$ double folding cluster potential within the framework of the optical model and the coupled-channels formalism. The $α$-$α$ double folding cluster potential is obtained by using the $α$-cluster distribution densities of the nuclei in the usual double folding procedure. The microscopic potential results are compared with the findings of the phenomenological deep and shallow potentials. It is subsequently shown that only phenomenological deep real, microscopic nucleon-nucleon and $α$-$α$ double folding cluster potentials provide a consistent description of the angular distributions and fusion cross-section data simultaneously. The effect of the inclusion of the excited states of the target nucleus $^{24}$Mg on the fusion cross-section predictions is also determined by the coupled-channels calculations, which are shown to improve the agreement.

Inclusive Cross-Sections of (p, xp) and (p, x$α$) Reactions on $^{56}$Fe Nucleus at E$_{p}$=29.9 MeV

In this paper, we present new experimental data measured at E$_{p}$=29.9 MeV for the inclusive reactions (p,xp) and (p,x$α$) on nucleus $^{56}$Fe. We investigate the adequacy of the theoretical models in explaining the measured experimental data and we determine the contributions of multi-step direct and multi-step compound processes in the formation of the cross-sections. We show that the traditional frameworks are valid for the description of the new experimental data and our measurements are in agreement with the previous measurements for the (p,xp) and (p,x$α$) reactions on the $^{54}$Fe nucleus. The only exception is within the energy region of E$_{p}$=15 and 25 MeV for both reactions, where the cross-section for the $^{56}$Fe nucleus is smaller than the cross-section for the $^{54}$Fe nucleus.

Inclusive Spectra of (p,xp) and (p,xd) Reactions on $^{90,92}$Zr and $^{92}$Mo Nuclei at E$_{p}$=30.3 MeV

New experimental data for the inclusive reactions (p,xp) and (p,xd) on isotopes of the nuclei $^{90,92}$Zr and $^{92}$Mo, have been measured at E$_{p}$=30.3 MeV, which has not been investigated in detail so far. We show the extension of the pre-equilibrium reactions to this energy region and interpret the results of these experiments. Moreover, we display the mechanism of the reaction and the level of energy-dependence. The adequacy of the theoretical models in explaining the measured experimental data is also discussed. In our theoretical analysis, the contributions of multi-step direct and compound processes in the formation of cross-sections are determined and we assert that the traditional frameworks are valid for the description of the experimental data.

Investigation of the Coupling Potential by means of S-matrix Inversion

We investigate the inelastic coupling interaction by studying its effect on the elastic scattering potential as determined by inverting the elastic scattering $S$-matrix. We first address the effect upon the real and imaginary elastic potentials of including excited states of the target nucleus. We then investigate the effect of a recently introduced novel coupling potential which has been remarkably successful in reproducing the experimental data for the $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C, $^{12}$C+$^{24}$Mg and $^{16}$O+$^{28}$Si reactions over a wide range of energies. This coupling potential has the effect of deepening the real elastic potential in the surface region, thereby explaining a common feature of many phenomenological potentials. It is suggested that one can relate this deepening to the super-deformed state of the compound nucleus, $^{24}$Mg.

A Global Potential Analysis of the $^{16}$O+$^{28}$Si Reaction Using a New Type of Coupling Potential

A new approach has been used to explain the experimental data for the $^{16}$O+$^{28}$Si system over a wide energy range in the laboratory system from 29.0 to 142.5 MeV. A number of serious problems has continued to plague the study of this system for a couple of decades. The explanation of anomalous large angle scattering data; the reproduction of the oscillatory structure near the Coulomb barrier; the out-of-phase problem between theoretical predictions and experimental data; the consistent description of angular distributions together with excitation functions data are just some of these problems. These are long standing problems that have persisted over the years and do represent a challenge calling for a consistent framework to resolve these difficulties within a unified approach. Traditional frameworks have failed to describe these phenomena within a single model and have so far only offered different approaches where these difficulties are investigated separately from one another. The present work offers a plausible framework where all these difficulties are investigated and answered. Not only it improves the simultaneous fits to the data of these diverse observables, achieving this within a unified approach over a wide energy range, but it departs for its coupling potential from the standard formulation. This new feature is shown to improve consistently the agreement with the experimental data and has made major improvement on all the previous coupled-channels calculations for this system.

New Results in the Analysis of the $^{16}$O+$^{28}$Si Elastic Scattering by Modifying the Optical Potential

The elastic scattering of the $^{16}$O+$^{28}$Si system has been analyzed with a modified potential within the framework of the optical model over a wide energy range in the laboratory system from 29.0 to 142.5 MeV. This system has been extensively studied over the years and a number of serious problems has remained unsolved: The explanation of the anomalous large angle scattering data; the out-of-phase problem between theoretical predictions and experimental data; the reproduction of the oscillatory structure near the Coulomb barrier; the consistent description of angular distributions together with the excitation functions data are just some of these problems. We propose the use of a modified potential method to explain these problems over this wide energy range. This new method consistently improves the agreement with the experimental data and achieves a major improvement on all the previous Optical model calculations for this system.

A Systematic Investigation of Light Heavy-Ion Reactions

We introduce a novel coupling potential for the scattering of deformed light heavy-ion reactions. This new approach is based on replacing the usual first-derivative coupling potential by a new, second derivative coupling potential in the coupled-channels formalism. The new approach has been successfully applied to the study of the $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C, $^{12}$C+$^{24}$Mg, $^{16}$O+$^{28}$Si and $^{16}$O+$^{24}$Mg systems and made major improvements over all the previous coupled-channels calculations for these systems. This paper also shows the limitations of the standard coupled-channels theory and presents a global solution to the problems faced in the previous theoretical accounts of these reactions.

Termination of the 12C(12C,12C[3-])12C[3-] band of resonances

New experimental data for the 12C+12C reaction have been measured in the centre-of-mass energy range E_{c.m.}= 40 to 60 MeV. Excitation functions for a number of single and mutual $^{12}$C inelastic channels have been measured which include the 0_{gs}, 2_{1}^+, 0_{2}^+, 3_{1}^-, and 4$_1^+$ 12C states. All of the reactions display largely unstructured excitation functions over this energy range. The absence of further resonances in this energy region for the 12C(12C,2C[3_1^-])12C[3_1^-$] reaction confirms theoretical predictions of the termination of the band of resonances found at lower centre-of-mass energies in this channel.

An Analysis of the $^{12}$C+$^{24}$Mg Reaction Using A New Coupling Potential

We introduce a new coupling potential to explain the experimental data for the $^{12}$C+$^{24}$Mg system at numerous energies in the laboratory system from 16.0 MeV to 24.0 MeV. This new coupled-channels based approach involves replacing the usual first derivative coupling potential by a new, second-derivative coupling potential. This paper first shows and discusses the limitation of the standard coupled-channels theory in the case where one of the nuclei in the reaction is strongly deformed. Then, this new approach is shown to improve consistently the agreement with the experimental data and has made major improvement on all the previous coupled-channels calculations for this system.
