Complex eigenfrequencies of the exterior of a scatterer are considered as signatures of the scatterer's shape. A parameter characterizing the ratio of the maximum transverse and longitudinal dimensions of a body is found.
The complex eigenfrequencies of a perfectly conducting cone, truncated cone, and finite circular cylinder are determined using the time-domain integral equation method and the Prony technique.
Scattering of nonstationary electromagnetic fields from axially symmetrical bodies is numerically investigated. Simulations are performed using the time- and frequency-domain approaches. Computational results obtained for a finite perfectly conducting cylinder, perfectly conducting cone, and cone covered with a dielectric layer are analyzed.
Scattering of the Gaussian video pulse by a perfectly conducting circular cone coated with dielectric is considered. The problem is solved using the method of integral equations in the low and resonance frequency bands followed by applying the Fourier transform to obtain time-domain responses. Backscattered fields are investigated for different permittivities of the dielectric in the case of the axial incidence of a plane wave.
