Study on anisotropic strange stars in $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$ gravity

In this work, we study the existence of strange star in the background of $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$ gravity in the Einstein spacetime geometry, where $\mathbb{T}$ is the torsion tensor and $\mathcal{T}$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. The equations of motion are derived for anisotropic pressure within the spherically symmetric strange star. We explore the physical features like energy conditions, mass-radius relations, modified TOV equations, principal of causality, adiabatic index, redshift and stability analysis of our model. These features are realistic and appealing to further investigation of properties of compact objects in $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$ gravity as well as their observational signatures.

Gravastars in $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$ gravity

We propose a stellar model under the $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$ gravity following Mazur-Mottola's conjecture [Mazur (2001), Mazur (2004)] known as gravastar which is generally believed as a viable alternative to black hole. The gravastar consists of three regions, viz., (I) Interior region, (II) Intermediate shell region, and (III) Exterior region. The pressure within the interior core region is assumed to be equal to the constant negative matter-energy density which provides a constant repulsive force over the thin shell region. The shell is assumed to be made up of fluid of ultrarelativistic plasma and following the Zel'dovich's conjecture of stiff fluid [Zeldovich (1972)] it is also assumed that the pressure which is directly proportional to the matter-energy density according to Zel'dovich's conjecture, does cancel the repulsive force exerted by the interior region. The exterior region is completely vacuum and it can be described by the Schwarzschild solution. Under all these specifications we find out a set of exact and singularity-free solutions of the gravastar presenting several physically valid features within the framework of alternative gravity, namely $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$ gravity [Harko (2014)], where the part of the gravitational Lagrangian in the corresponding action is taken as an arbitrary function of torsion scalar $\mathbb{T}$ and the trace of the energy-momentum tensor $\mathcal{T}$.

The entropy of an acoustic black hole in neo-Newtonian theory

In this paper we consider the metric of a 2+1-dimensional rotating acoustic black hole in the neo-Newtonian theory to compute the Hawking temperature and applying the quantum statistical method, we calculate the statistical entropy using a corrected state density due to the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP). In our calculations we have shown that the obtained entropy is finite and correction terms are generated. Moreover, the computation of the entropy for this method does not present logarithmic corrections.

Thermodynamic approach to holographic dark energy and the Rényi entropy

Using the first law of thermodynamics, we propose a relation between the system entropy ($S$) and its IR ($L$) and UV ($Λ$) cutoffs. In addition, applying this relation to the apparent horizon of flat FRW universe, whose entropy meets the Rényi entropy, a new holographic dark energy model is addressed. Thereinafter, the evolution of the flat FRW universe, filled by a pressureless source and the obtained dark energy candidate, is studied. In our model, there is no mutual interaction between the cosmos sectors. We find out that the obtained model is theoretically powerful to explain the current accelerated phase of the universe. This result emphasizes that the generalized entropy formalism is suitable for describing systems including the long-range interactions such as gravity.

$f(R,T)$ models applied to Baryogenesis

This paper is devoted to the reproduction of the gravitational baryogenesis epoch in the context of $f(R, T)$ theory of gravity, where $R$ and $T$ are respectively the curvature scalar and the trace of the energy-momentum tensor, respectively. It is assumed a minimal coupling between matter and gravity. In particular we consider the following two models, $f(R,T) = R +αT + βT^2$ and $f(R,T) = R+ μR^2 + λT$, with the assumption that the universe is filled by dark energy and perfect fluid where the baryon to entropy ratio during a radiation domination era is non-zero. We constrain the models with the cosmological gravitational baryogenesis scenario, highlighting the appropriate values of model's parameters compatible with the observation data of the baryon-entropy ratio.

Energy definition and dark energy: a thermodynamic analysis

Accepting the Komar mass definition of a source with energy-momentum tensor $T_{μν}$, and using the thermodynamic pressure definition, we find a relaxed energy-momentum conservation law. Thereinafter, we study some cosmological consequences of the obtained energy-momentum conservation law. It has been found out that the dark sectors of cosmos are unifiable into one cosmic fluid in our setup. While this cosmic fluid impels the universe to enter an accelerated expansion phase, it may even show a baryonic behavior by itself during the cosmos evolution. Indeed, in this manner, while $T_{μν}$ behaves baryonically, some parts of it, namely $T_{μν}(e)$ which is satisfying the ordinary energy-momentum conservation law, are responsible for the current accelerated expansion.

Cloud of strings in f(R) gravity

We derive the solution for a spherically symmetric string cloud configuration in a d-dimensional spacetime in the framework of f(R) theories of gravity. We also analyze some thermodynamic properties of the joint black hole - cloud of strings solution. For its Hawking temperature, we found that the dependence of the mass with the horizon is significantly different in both theories. For the interaction of a black hole with thermal radiation, we found that the shapes of the curves are similar, but shifted. Our analysis generalizes some known results in the literature.

Thermodynamics of Black Holes in Rastall Gravity

A promising theory in modifying general relativity by violating the ordinary energy-momentum conservation law in curved spacetime is the Rastall theory of gravity. In this theory, geometry and matter fields are coupled to each other in a non-minimal way. Here, we study thermodynamic properties of some black hole solutions in this framework, and compare our results with those of general relativity. We demonstrate how the presence of these matter sources may amplify effects caused by the Rastall parameter in thermodynamic quantities. Our investigation also shows that black holes with radius smaller than a certain amount ($\equiv r_0$) have negative heat capacity in the Rastall framework. In fact, it is a lower bound for the possible values of horizon radius satisfied by stable black holes.

Generalized entropy formalism and a new holographic dark energy model

Recently, the Rényi and Tsallis generalized entropies have extensively been used in order to study various cosmological and gravitational setups. Here, using a special type of generalized entropy, a generalization of both the Rényi and Tsallis entropy, together with holographic principle, we build a new model for holographic dark energy. Thereinafter, considering a flat FRW universe, filled by a pressureless component and the new obtained dark energy model, the evolution of cosmos has been investigated showing satisfactory results and behavior. In our model, the Hubble horizon plays the role of IR cutoff, and there is no mutual interaction between the cosmos components. Our results indicate that the generalized entropy formalism may open a new window to become more familiar with the nature of spacetime and its properties.

Relativistic Bose--Einstein condensates thin-shell wormholes

We construct traversable thin-shell wormholes which are asymptotically Ads/dS applying the cut and paste procedure for the case of an acoustic metric created by a relativistic Bose-Einstein condensate. We examine several definitions of the flare-out condition along with the violation or not of the energy conditions for such relativistic geometries. Under reasonable assumptions about the equation of state of the matter located at the shell, we concentrate on the mechanical stability of wormholes under radial perturbation preserving the original spherical symmetry. To do so, we consider linearized perturbations around static solutions. We obtain that dS acoustic wormholes remain stable under radial perturbations as long as they have small radius, such wormholes with finite radius do not violate the strong/null energy condition. Besides, we show that stable Ads wormhole satisfy some of the energy conditions whereas unstable Ads wormhole with large radii violate them.

Viscous Generalized Chaplygin Gas Interacting with f(R,T) gravity

In this paper, we study in Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe the interaction between the viscous generalized Chaplygin gas with $f(R,T)$ gravity, which is an arbitrary function of the Ricci scalar $R$ and the trace $T$ of the energy-momentum tensor. Assuming that the contents of universe is dominated by a generalized Chaplygin gas and dark energy, we obtained the modified Friedmann equations and also the time dependent energy density and pressure of dark energy due to the shear and bulk viscosities for three interacting models depending on an input parameter $Q$. Within the simple form of scale factor (power-law), we discuss the graphical representation of dark energy density parameter and investigate the shear and bulk viscosities effects on the accelerating expansion of the universe for each interacting model.

Perfect fluid and F(T) gravity descriptions of inflationary universe and comparison with obervational data

We describe in this paper the observables of inflationary models, in particular the spectrum index of torsion scalar perturbations, the tensor-to-scalar ratio, and the running of the spectral index, in the framework of perfect fluid models and F(T) gravity theories through the reconstruction methods. Then, our results on the perfect fluid and F(T) gravity theories of inflation are compared with recent cosmological observations such as the Planck satellite and BICEP2 experiment. Ours studies prove that the perfect fluid and F(T) gravity models can reproduce the inflationary universe consistent above all with the Planck data. We have reconstructed several models and considered others which give the best fit values compatible with the spectral index of curvature perturbations, the tensor-to-scalar ratio, and the running of the spectral index within the allowed ranges suggested by the Planck and BICEP2 results.

Interactions of some fluids with dark energy in f(T) theory

We investigate the interaction of the dark energy with some fluids filling the universe in the framework of $f(T)$ theory, where $T$ denotes the torsion scalar, searching for the associated gravitational actions. Dark energy is assumed to be of gravitational origin. The interaction of dark energy and baryonic matter is considered resulting in a decay of the energy density of the ordinary matter, where universe appears as driven by cosmological constant. Furthermore we consider the interaction of dark energy with Van Der Waals fluid and in this regard the universe is seemed plunging into a phantom phase. Finally, the interaction of the dark energy with Chaplygin gas is studied, leading to a universe dominated by the cosmological constant.

Analogue Aharonov-Bohm effect in neo-Newtonian theory

We address the issues of the scattering of massless planar scalar waves by an acoustic black hole in neo-Newtonian hydrodynamics. We then compute the differential cross section through the use of the partial wave approach in the neo-Newtonian theory which is a modification of the usual Newtonian theory that correctly incorporates the effects of pressure. We mainly show that the scattering of planar waves leads to a modified analogue Aharonov-Bohm effect due to a nontrivial response of the parameters defining the equation of state.

Newtonian View of General Relativistic Stars

Although general relativistic cosmological solutions, even in the presence of pressure, can be mimicked by using neo-Newtonian hydrodynamics, it is not clear whether there exists the same Newtonian correspondence for spherical static configurations. General relativity solutions for stars are known as the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations. On the other hand, the Newtonian description does not take into account the total pressure effects and therefore can not be used in strong field regimes. We discuss how to incorporate pressure in the stellar equilibrium equations within the neo-Newtonian framework. We compare the Newtonian, neo-Newtonian and the full relativistic theory by solving the equilibrium equations for both three approaches and calculating the mass-radius diagrams for some simple neutron stars equation of state.

LCDM Model in f(T) Gravity: Reconstruction, Thermodynamics and Stability

We investigate some cosmological features of the LCDM model in the framework of the generalized teleparallel theory of gravity f(T) where T denotes the torsion scalar. Its reconstruction is performed giving rise to an integration constant Q and other input parameters according to which we point out more analysis. Thereby, we show that for some values of this constant, the first and second laws of thermodynamics can be realized in the equilibrium description, for the universe with the temperature inside the horizon equal to that at the apparent horizon. Moreover, still within these suitable values of the constant, we show that the model may be stable using the de Sitter and Power-Law cosmological solutions.

A note on acoustic black holes in neo-Newtonian theory

Newtonian fluid dynamics allows the construction of acoustic metrics from which black hole configurations can be studied. However, relativistic pressure effects are neglected within Newtonian theory. We study acoustic black holes in the framework of neo-Newtonian hydrodynamics, which is designed to take into account relativistic inertial effects of the pressure $p$. Within this new hydrodynamical context we show how $p$ can influence the formation of the acoustic horizons.

Locally Rotationally Symmetric Bianchi Type-I cosmological model in $f(T)$ gravity: from early to Dark Energy dominated universe

We study the locally rotational symmetry Bianchi type-I dark energy model in the framework of $f(T)$ theory of gravity, where $T$ denotes the torsion scalar. A viable cosmological model is undertaken and the isotropization of this latter is checked, yielding a result that reflects the real evolution of our universe. Moreover, still in the anisotropic optic, a more complicated $f(T)$ model is obtained from the cosmological reconstruction scheme and the analysis shows that the universe is more anisotropic at the beginning if the terms of higher order in $T$ are not considered. This means that the non-linear model should be favoured by observational data.
