Infinite (continuous) spin particle in constant curvature space

We present a new particle model that generalize for constant curvature space an infinite spin particle in flat space. The model is described by commuting Weyl spinor additional coordinates. It proved that such a model is consistent only in external gravitational field corresponding to the constant curvature spaces. Full set of the first-class constraints in the de Sitter and anti-de Sitter spaces is obtained.

Generalization of the Bargmann-Wigner approach to constructing relativistic fields

We review the method for constructing local relativistic fields corresponding to the Bargmann-Wigner wave functions that describe the unitary irreducible representations of the $4D$ Poincaré group. The method is based on the use of the generalized Wigner operator connecting the wave functions of induced representations and local relativistic fields. Applications of this operator for constructing massive local relativistic fields as well as massless helicity local fields and massless local infinite spin fields are considered.

Lagrangian formulation for free $6D$ infinite spin field

We construct a Lagrangian that describes the dynamics of a six-dimensional free infinite (continuous) spin field in $6D$ Minkowski space. The Lagrangian is formulated in the framework of the BRST approach to higher spin field theory and is based on a system of constraints defining an irreducible representation of the corresponding Poincaré group. The field realization of generators in the $6D$ Poincaré algebra and the second-, fourth-, and sixth-order Casimir operators are obtained in explicit form using additional spinor coordinates. Specific aspects of such a realization in six dimensions are discussed. We derive the conditions that determine the irreducible representation $6D$ infinite spin field and reformulate them as operators in the Fock space forming a first-class algebra in terms of commutators. These operators are used to construct the BRST charge and the corresponding Lagrangian. We prove that the conditions of the irreducible representation are reproduced as the consequence of the Lagrangian equations of motion, which finally provides the correctness of the results obtained.

Consistent Lagrangians for irreducible interacting higher-spin fields with holonomic constraints

We study the aspects of constructing the interactions for the higher spin fields in the framework of BRST approach. The main object of such an approach is BRST operator acting in the appropriate Fock space and building on the base of constraints that define the irreducible higher spin representations. In its turn, the constrains are divided into differential and purely algebraic or holonomic. The necessary and sufficient conditions to derive the consistent Lagrangian formulations for irreducible interacting higher-spin fields within approach with incomplete BRST operator, where the algebraic constraints are not included into definition of the BRST operator but imposed "by hands" on the field and gauge parameter vectors, are considered. It is shown that in addition to that such constraints should (anti)commute with the BRST operator and annihilate the fields and gauge parameters Fock space vectors, they must form the Abelian (super)algebra both with the BRST operator above and with operators of cubic, quartic and etc. vertices. Only under the above conditions, the formulations with complete and incomplete BRST charges turn out to be equivalent and yield to the same interaction vertices in terms of irreducible fields.

Generalized canonical approach to deformation problem in gauge theories

We develop a general approach to constructing a deformation that describes the mapping of any dynamical system with irreducible first-class constraints in the phase space into another dynamical system with first-class constraints. It is shown that such a deformation problem can be efficiently explored in the framework of the Batalin-Fradkin-Vilkovisky (BFV) formalism. The basic objects of this formalism are the BRST-BFV charge and a generalized Hamiltonian that satisfy the defining equations in the extended phase space in terms of (super)Poisson brackets. General solution to the deformation problem is found in terms of a (super)canonical transformation with a special generating function which is explicitly established. It is proved that this generating function is determined by a single arbitrary function which depends only on coordinates of initial dynamical system. In principle, such a function may be non-local, but the deformed theory may have a local sector. To illustrate the developed approach, we have constructed a non-local deformation of the Abelian gauge theory into a non-local non-Abelian gauge theory whose local sector coincides with the standard Yang-Mills theory.

On two-loop divergences of effective action in $6D$, ${\cal N}=(1,1)$ SYM theory

We study the off-shell structure of the two-loop effective action in $6D, {\cal N}=(1,1)$ supersymmetric gauge theories formulated in ${\cal N}=(1,0)$ harmonic superspace. The off-shell effective action involving all fields of $6D, {\cal N}=(1,1)$ supermultiplet is constructed by the harmonic superfield background field method, which ensures both manifest gauge covariance and manifest ${\cal N}=(1,0)$ supersymmetry. We analyze the off-shell divergences dependent on both gauge and hypermultiplet superfields and argue that the gauge invariance of the divergences is consistent with the non-locality in harmonics. The two-loop contributions to the effective action are given by harmonic supergraphs with the background gauge and hypermultiplet superfields. The procedure is developed to operate with the harmonic-dependent superpropagators in the two-loop supergraphs within the superfield dimensional regularization. We explicitly calculate the gauge and the hypermultiplet-mixed divergences as the coefficients of $\frac{1}{{\varepsilon}^2}$ and demonstrate that the corresponding expressions are non-local in harmonics.

Generalized Wigner operators and relativistic gauge fields

We introduce and study the generalized Wigner operator. By definition, such an operator transforms the Wigner wave function into a local relativistic field corresponding to an irreducible representation of the Poincaré group by extended discrete transformations, with integer helicities $λ$ and $-λ$. It is shown that the relativistic fields constructed in this way are gauge potentials and satisfy the relations that determine free massless higher spin fields.

Generalization of the Bargmann-Wigner construction for infinite spin fields

We develop a generalization of the Wigner scheme for constructing the relativistic fields corresponding to irreducible representations of the four-dimensional Poincaré group with infinite spin. The fields are parameterized by a vector and an additional commuting vector or spinor variable. The equations of motion for fields of infinite spin are derived in both formulations under consideration.

Cubic interactions of d4 irreducible massless higher spin fields within BRST approach

We develop an approach to constructing the manifestly Lorentz covariant cubic interaction vertices for the four-dimensional massless higher spin bosonic fields with two-component dotted and undotted spinor indices. Such fields automatically satisfy the traceless conditions what simplify form of the equations determining the irreducible massless representation of the Poincar'e group with given helicity. The cubic vertex is formulated in the framework of the BRST approach to higher spin field theory. Use of the above spin-tensor fields allows to simplify a form of the BRST-charge and hence to find the cubic vertices just in terms of irreducible higher spin fields. We derive an equation for the cubic vertex and find solutions for arbitrary spins $s_1,s_2,s_3$ with the number of derivatives $s_1+s_2+s_3$ in the vertex. As an example, we explicitly construct a vertex corresponding to the interaction of a higher spin field with scalars.

Light-front description of infinite spin fields in six-dimensional Minkowski space

We present a new $6D$ infinite spin field theory in the light-front formulation. The Lorentz-covariant counterparts of these fields depend on 6-vector coordinates and additional spinor variables. Casimir operators in this realization are found. We obtain infinite-spin fields in the light-cone frame which depend on two sets of the $\mathrm{SU}(2)$-harmonic variables. The generators of the $6D$ Poincaré group and the infinite spin field action in the light-front formulation are presented.

General Cubic Interacting Vertex for Massless Integer Higher Spin Fields

We consider a massless higher spin field theory within the BRST approach and construct a general off-shell cubic vertex corresponding to irreducible higher spin fields of helicities $s_1, s_2, s_3$. Unlike the previous works on cubic vertices, which do not take into account of the trace constraints, we use the complete BRST operator, including the trace constraints that describe an irreducible representation with definite integer helicity. As a result, we generalize the cubic vertex found in [arXiv:1205.3131 [hep-th]] and calculate the new contributions to the vertex, which contain additional terms with a smaller number space-time derivatives of the fields as well as the terms without derivatives.

On the off-shell superfield Lagrangian formulation of $4D$, $\mathcal{N}{=}\,1$ supersymmetric infinite spin theory

We develop a complete off-shell Lagrangian description of the free $4D, {\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric theory of infinite spin. Bosonic and fermionic fields are formulated in terms of spin-tensor fields with dotted and undotted indices. The corresponding Lagrangians for bosonic and fermionic infinite spin fields entering into the on-shell supersymmetric model are derived within the BRST method. Lagrangian for this supersymmetric model is written in terms of the complex infinite spin bosonic field and infinite spin fermionic Weyl field subject to supersymmetry transformations. The fields involved into the on-shell supersymmetric Lagrangian can be considered as components of six infinite spin chiral and antichiral multiplets. These multiplets are extended to the corresponding infinite spin chiral and antichiral superfields so that two chiral and antichiral superfields contain among the components the basic fields of an infinite spin supermultiplet and extra four chiral and antichiral superfields containing only the auxiliary fields needed for the Lagrangian formulation. The superfield Lagrangian is constructed in terms of these six chiral and antichiral supefields, and we show that the component form of this superfield Lagrangian exactly coincides with the previously found component supersymmetric Lagrangian after eliminating the component fields added to construct (anti)chiral superfields.

On a structure of the one-loop divergences in $4D, {\cal N}=2$ supersymmetric sigma-model

We study the quantum structure of four-dimensional ${\cal N}=2$ superfield sigma-model formulated in harmonic superspace in terms of the omega-hypermultiplet superfield $ω$. The model is described by harmonic superfield sigma-model metric $g_{ab}(ω)$ and two potential-like superfields $L^{++}_{a}(ω)$ and $L^{(+4)}(ω)$. In bosonic component sector this model describes some hyper-Kähler manifold. The manifestly ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetric covariant background-quantum splitting is constructed and the superfield proper-time technique is developed to calculate the one-loop effective action. The one-loop divergences of the superfield effective action are found for arbitrary $g_{ab}(ω), L^{++}_{a}(ω), L^{(+4)}(ω)$, where some specific analogy between the algebra of covariant derivatives in the sigma-model and the corresponding algebra in the ${\cal N}=2$ SYM theory is used. The component structure of divergences in the bosonic sector is discussed.

Superspace BRST/BV operators of superfield gauge theories

We consider the superspace BRST and BV description of $4D,~\mathcal{N}=1$ Super Maxwell theory and its non-abelian generalization Super Yang-Mills. By fermionizing the superspace gauge transformation of the gauge superfields we define the nilpotent superspace BRST symmetry transformation ($\mathscr{s}$). After introducing an appropriate set of anti-superfields and define the superspace antibracket, we use it to construct the BV-BRST nilpotent differential operator ($\mathfrak{s}$) in terms of superspace covariant derivatives. The anti-superfield independent terms of $\mathfrak{s}$ provide a superspace generalization of the Koszul-Tate resolution ($δ$). In the linearized limit, the set of superspace differential operators that appear in $\mathfrak{s}$ satisfy a nonlinear algebra which can be used to construct a BRST charge $Q$ without requiring pure spinor variables. $Q$ acts on the Hilbert space of superfield states and its cohomology generates the expected superspace equations of motion.

Twistor formulation of massless $6D$ infinite spin fields

We construct massless infinite spin irreducible representations of the six-dimensional Poincaré group in the space of fields depending on twistor variables. It is shown that the massless infinite spin representation is realized on the two-twistor fields. We present a full set of equations of motion for two-twistor fields represented by the totally symmetric $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ rank $2s$ two-twistor spin-tensor and show that they carry massless infinite spin representations. A field twistor transform is constructed and infinite spin fields are found in the space-time formulation with an additional spinor coordinate.

On classical and quantum deformations of gauge theories

We elaborate the generalizations of the approach to gauge-invariant deformations of the gauge theories developed in our previous work [1]. In the given paper we construct the exact transformations defying the gauge-invariant deformed theory on the base of initial gauge theory with irreducible open gauge algebra. Like in [1], for the theories with open gauge algebras these transformations are the shifts of the initial gauge fields $A \rightarrow A+h(A)$, with the help of the arbitrary and in general non-local functions $h(A)$. The results are applied to study the quantum aspects of the deformed theories. We derive the exact relation between the quantum effective actions for the above classical theories, where one is obtained from another with the help of the deformation.

Superspace First Order Formalism, Trivial Symmetries and Electromagnetic Interactions of Linearized Supergravity

We introduce a first order description of linearized non-minimal ($n=-1$) supergravity in superspace, using the unconstrained prepotential superfield instead of the conventionally constrained super one forms. In this description, after integrating out the connection-like auxiliary superfield of first-order formalism, the superspace action is expressed in terms of a single superfield which combines the prepotential and compensator superfields. We use this description to construct the supersymmetric cubic interaction vertex $3/2-3/2-1/2$ which describes the electromagnetic interaction between two non-minimal supergravity multiplets (superspin $\textsf{Y}=3/2$ which contains a spin 2 and a spin 3/2 particles) and a vector multiplet (superspin $\textsf{Y}=1/2$ contains a spin 1 and a spin 1/2 particles). Exploring the trivial symmetries emerging between the two $\textsf{Y}=3/2$ supermultiplets, we show that this cubic vertex must depend on the vector multiplet superfield strength. This result generalize previous results for non-supersymmetric electromagnetic interactions of spin 2 particles. The constructed cubic interaction generates non-trivial deformations of the gauge transformations.
