Regge phenomenology of the $N^*$ and $Δ^*$ poles

We use Regge phenomenology to study the structure of the poles of the $N^*$ and $Δ^*$ spectrum. We employ the available pole extractions from partial wave analysis of meson scattering and photoproduction data. We assess the importance of the imaginary part of the poles (widths) to obtain a consistent determination of the parameters of the Regge trajectory. We compare the several pole extractions and show how Regge phenomenology can be used to gain insight in the internal structure of baryons. We find that the majority of the states in the parent Regge trajectories are compatible with a mostly compact three-quark state picture.

Toward Complete Pion Nucleon Amplitudes

We compare the low-energy partial wave analyses $πN$ scattering with a high-energy data via finite energy sum rules. We construct a new set of amplitudes by matching the imaginary part from the low-energy analysis with the high-energy, Regge parametrization and reconstruct the real parts using dispersion relations.

Three-body final state interaction in $η\to 3 π$ updated

In view of the recent high-statistic KLOE data for the $η\to π^+ π^- π^0$ decay, a new determination of the quark mass double ratio has been done. Our approach relies on a dispersive model that takes into account rescattering effects between three pions via subenergy unitarity. The latter is essential to reproduce the Dalitz plot distribution. A simultaneous description of the KLOE and WASA-at-COSY data is achieved in terms of just two real parameters. From a global fit, we determine $Q=21.6 \pm 1.1$. The predicted slope parameter for the neutral channel $α=-0.025\pm 0.004$ is in reasonable agreement with the PDG average value.

Measurement of the omega -> pi^0 e^+e^- and eta -> e^+e^-g Dalitz decays with the A2 setup at MAMI

The Dalitz decays eta -> e^+e^-g and omega -> pi^0 e^+e^- have been measured in the g p -> eta p and g p -> omega p reactions, respectively, with the A2 tagged-photon facility at the Mainz Microtron, MAMI. The value obtained for the slope parameter of the electromagnetic transition form factor of eta, Lambda^{-2}_eta=(1.97+/-0.11_tot) GeV^{-2}, is in good agreement with previous measurements of the eta -> e^+e^-g and eta -> mu^+mu^-g decays. The uncertainty obtained in the value of Lambda^{-2}_eta is lower than in previous results based on the eta -> e^+e^-g decay. The value obtained for the omega slope parameter, Lambda^{-2}_omega_pi^0 = (1.99+/-0.21_tot) GeV^{-2}, is somewhat lower than previous measurements based on omega -> pi^0 mu^+mu^-, but the results for the omega transition form factor are in better agreement with theoretical calculations, compared to earlier experiments.

Coupled-Channel Model for $\bar{K}N$ Scattering in the Resonant Region

We present a unitary multichannel model for $\bar{K}N$ scattering in the resonance region that fulfills unitarity. It has the correct analytical properties for the amplitudes once they are extended to the complex-$s$ plane and the partial waves have the right threshold behavior. To determine the parameters of the model, we have fitted single-energy partial waves up to $J=7/2$ and up to 2.15 GeV of energy in the center-of-mass reference frame obtaining the poles of the $Λ^*$ and $Σ^*$ resonances, which are compared to previous analyses. We provide the most comprehensive picture of the $S=-1$ hyperon spectrum to date. Important differences are found between the available analyses making the gathering of further experimental information on $\bar{K}N$ scattering mandatory to make progress in the assessment of the hyperon spectrum.

Dispersive approaches for three-particle final states interaction

In this work, we present different representations of Khuri-Treiman equation, the advantage and disadvantage of each representations are discussed. Using a toy model for scattering amplitude, we study the sensitivity of solution of KT equation to the left hand cut of this toy model and to the different approximate methods. At last, we briefly discuss Watson's theorem when three particles in final states are involved.

Dispersive Analysis of $ω/ϕ\rightarrow 3π,\,πγ^*$

The decays $ω/ϕ\rightarrow 3π$ are considered in the dispersive framework that is based on the isobar decomposition and sub-energy unitarity. The inelastic contributions are parametrized by the power series in a suitably chosen conformal variable that properly accounts for the analytic properties of the amplitude. The Dalitz plot distributions and integrated decay widths are presented. Our results indicate that the final state interactions may be sizable. As a further application of the formalism we also compute the electromagnetic transition form factors of $ω/ϕ\rightarrow π^0γ^*$.

Double-Regge Exchange Limit for the $γp\rightarrow K^+K^-p$ Reaction

We apply the generalized Veneziano model ($B_5$ model) in the double-Regge exchange limit to the $γp \to K^+ K^- p$ reaction. Four different cases defined by the possible combinations of the signature factors of leading Regge exchanges (($K^*,a_2/f_2$), ($K^*,ρ/ω$), ($K_2^*,a_2/f_2$), and ($K_2^*,ρ/ω$)) have been simulated through the Monte Carlo method. Suitable event candidates for the double-Regge exchange high-energy limit were selected employing \textit{Van Hove} plots as a better alternative to kinematical cuts in the $K^+ K^- p$ Dalitz plot. In this way we predict and analyze the double-Regge contribution to the $K^+ K^- p$ Dalitz plot, which constitutes one of the major backgrounds in the search for strangeonia, hybrids and exotics using $γp\rightarrow K^+K^-p$ reaction. We expect that data currently under analysis, and that to come in the future, will allow verification of the double-Regge behavior and a better assessment of this component of the amplitude.

A new measurement of the rare decay eta -> pi^0 gamma gamma with the Crystal Ball/TAPS detectors at the Mainz Microtron

A new measurement of the rare, doubly radiative decay eta->pi^0 gamma gamma was conducted with the Crystal Ball and TAPS multiphoton spectrometers together with the photon tagging facility at the Mainz Microtron MAMI. New data on the dependence of the partial decay width, Gamma(eta->pi^0 gamma gamma), on the two-photon invariant mass squared, m^2(gamma gamma), as well as a new, more precise value for the decay width, Gamma(eta->pi^0 gamma gamma) = (0.33+/-0.03_tot) eV, are based on analysis of 1.2 x 10^3 eta->pi^0 gamma gamma decays from a total of 6 x 10^7 eta mesons produced in the gamma p -> eta p reaction. The present results for dGamma(eta->pi^0 gamma gamma)/dm^2(gamma gamma) are in good agreement with previous measurements and recent theoretical calculations for this dependence.

Photon-fusion reactions from the chiral Lagrangian with dynamical light vector mesons

We study the reactions $γγ\rightarrow π^0π^0$, $π^+π^-$, $K^0\bar{K}^0$, $K^+K^-$, $ηη$ and $π^0η$ based on a chiral Lagrangian with dynamical light vector mesons as formulated within the hadrogenesis conjecture. At present our chiral Lagrangian contains 5 unknown parameters that are relevant for the photon fusion reactions. They parameterize the strength of interaction terms involving two vector meson fields. These parameters are fitted to photon fusion data $γγ\rightarrow π^0π^0$, $π^+π^-, π^0η$ and to the decay $η\rightarrowπ^0γγ$. In order to derive gauge invariant reaction amplitudes in the resonance region constraints from micro-causality and exact coupled-channel unitarity are used. Our results are in good agreement with the existing experimental data from threshold up to about 0.9 GeV for the two-pion final states. The $a_0$ meson in the $π^0η$ channel is dynamically generated and an accurate reproduction of the $γγ\rightarrow π^0η$ data is achieved up to 1.2 GeV. Based on our parameter sets we predict the $γγ\rightarrow $ $K^0\bar{K}^0$, $K^+K^-$, $ηη$ cross sections.

Chiral dynamics with vector fields: an application to $ππ$ and $πK$ scattering

A theoretical study of Goldstone boson scattering based on the chiral Lagrangian with vector meson fields is presented. In application of a recently developed novel approach we extrapolate subthreshold partial-wave amplitudes into the physical region. The constraints set by micro-causality and coupled-channel unitarity are kept rigourously. It is shown that already the leading order subthreshold amplitudes lead to s- and p-wave $ππ$ and $πK$ phase shifts are in agreement with the experimental data up to about 1.2 GeV.

Hadron interaction with heavy quarkonia

Dynamics of hadro-quarkonium system is formulated, based on the channel coupling of a light hadron (h) and heavy quarkonium (Q\bar{Q}) to intermediate open-flavor heavy-light mesons (Q\bar{q}, \bar{Q}q). The resulting effective interaction is defined by overlap integrals of meson wavefunctions and (hq\bar q) coupling, where h is pi, rho, omega, phi, without fitting parameters. Equations for hadro-quarkonium amplitudes and resonance positions are written explicitly, and numerically calculated for the special case of pi Upsilon(nS) (n=1,2,3). It is also shown, that the recently observed by Belle two peaks Z_b(10610) and Z_b(10650) are in agreement with the proposed theory. It is demonstrated, that theory predicts peaks at the BB*, B*B* thresholds in all available pi Upsilon(nS) channels. Analytic nature of these peaks is investigated, and shown to be due to a common multichannel resonance poles close to the BB*, B*B* thresholds. The general mechanism of these hadro-quarkonium resonances does not assume any molecular or four-quark (tetraquark) dynamics.

Dynamical light vector mesons in low-energy scattering of Goldstone bosons

We present a study of Goldstone boson scattering based on the flavor SU(3) chiral Lagrangian formulated with vector mesons in the tensor field representation. A coupled-channel channel computation is confronted with the empirical s- and p-wave phase shifts, where good agreement with the data set is obtained up to about 1.2 GeV. There are two relevant free parameters only, the chiral limit value of the pion decay constant and the coupling constant characterizing the decay of the rho meson into a pair of pions. We apply a recently suggested approach that implements constraints from micro- causality and coupled-channel unitarity. Generalized potentials are obtained from the chiral Lagrangian and are expanded in terms of suitably constructed conformal variables. The partial-wave scattering amplitudes are defined as solutions of non-linear integral equations that are solved by means of an N/D ansatz.

On causality, unitarity and perturbative expansions

We present a pedagogical case study how to combine micro-causality and unitarity based on a perturbative approach. The method we advocate constructs an analytic extrapolation of partial-wave scattering amplitudes that is constrained by the unitarity condition. Suitably constructed conformal mappings help to arrive at a systematic approximation of the scattering amplitude. The technique is illustrated at hand of a Yukawa interaction. The typical case of a superposition of strong short-range and weak long-range forces is investigated.

Dynamical origin and the pole structure of X(3872)

The dynamical mechanism of channel coupling with the decay channels is applied to the case of coupled charmonium - $DD^*$ states with $J^{PC}=1^{++}$. A pole analysis is done and the $DD^*$ production cross section is calculated in qualitative agreement with experiment. The sharp peak at the $D_0D^*_0$ threshold and flat background are shown to be due to Breit-Wigner resonance, shifted by channel coupling from the original position of 3954 MeV for the $2^3P_1$, $Q\bar Q$ state. A similar analysis, applied to the $n=2$, $^3P_2$, $^1P_1$, $^3P_0$, allows us to associate the first one with the observed $Z(3930)$ J=2 and explains the destiny of $^3P_0$.

The Hyperfine Splittings in Heavy-Light Mesons and Quarkonia

Hyperfine splittings (HFS) are calculated within the Field Correlator Method, taking into account relativistic corrections. The HFS in bottomonium and the $B_q$ (q=n,s) mesons are shown to be in full agreement with experiment if a universal coupling $α_{HF}=0.310$ is taken in perturbative spin-spin potential. It gives $M(B^*)-M(B)=45.7(3)$ MeV, $M(B_s^*)-M(B_s)=46.7(3)$ MeV ($n_f=4$), while in bottomonium $Δ_{HF}(b\bar b)=M(Υ(9460))-M(η_b(1S))=63.4$ MeV for $n_f=4$ and 71.1 MeV for $n_f=5$ are obtained; just latter agrees with recent BaBar data. For unobserved excited states we predict $M(Υ(2S))-M(η_b(2S))=36(2)$ MeV, $M(Υ(3S))-M(η(3S))=28(2)$ MeV, and also $M(B_c^*)=6334(4)$ MeV, $M(B_c(2S))=6868(4)$ MeV, $M(B_c^*(2S))=6905(4)$ MeV. The mass splittings between $D(2^3S_1)-D(2^1S_0)$, $D_s(2^3S_1)-D_s(2^1S_0)$ are predicted to be $\sim 70$ MeV, which are significantly smaller than in several other studies.

Channel coupling in heavy quarkonia: energy levels, mixing, widths and new states

The mechanism of channel coupling via decay products is used to study energy shifts, level mixing as well as the possibility of new near-threshold resonances in $c\bar c, b\bar b$ systems. The Weinberg eigenvalue method is formulated in the multichannel problems, which allows to describe coupled-channel resonances and wave functions in a unitary way, and to predict new states due to channel coupling. Realistic wave functions for all single-channel states and decay matrix elements computed earlier are exploited, and no new fitting parameters are involved. Examples of level shifts, widths and mixings are presented; the dynamical origin of X(3872) and the destiny of the single-channel $2^3P_1(c\bar c)$ state are clarified. As a result a sharp and narrow peak in the state with quantum numbers $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ is found at 3.872 GeV, while the single-channel resonance originally around 3.940 GeV, becomes increasingly broad and disappears with growing coupling to open channels.

The Hyperfine Splittings in Bottomonium and the $B_q (q=n,s,c)$ Mesons

A universal description of the hyperfine splittings (HFS) in bottomonium and the $B_q (q=n,s,c)$ mesons is obtained with a universal strong coupling constant $α_s(μ)=0.305(2)$ in a spin-spin potential. Other characteristics are calculated within the Field Correlator Method, taking the freezing value of the strong coupling independent of $n_f$. The HFS $M(B^*)- M(B)=45.3(3)$ MeV, $M(B_s^*) - M(B_s)=46.5(3)$ MeV are obtained in full agreement with experiment both for $n_f=3$ and $n_f=4$. In bottomonium, $M(Υ(9460))- M(η_b)=70.0(4)$ MeV for $n_f=5$ agrees with the BaBar data, while a smaller HFS, equal to 64(1) MeV, is obtained for $n_f=4$. We predict HFS $M(Υ(2S))-M(η_b(2S))=36(1)$ MeV, $M(Υ(3S))- M(η(3S))=27(1)$ MeV, and $M(B_c^*) - M(B_c)= 57.5(10)$ MeV, which gives $M(B_c^*)=6334(1)$ MeV, $M(B_c(2 {}^1S_0))=6865(5)$ MeV, and $M(B_c^*(2S {}^3S_1))=6901(5)$ MeV.
