Bimodule structure of the mixed tensor product over $U_{q} s\ell(2|1)$ and quantum walled Brauer algebra

We study a mixed tensor product $\mathbf{3}^{\otimes m} \otimes \mathbf{\overline{3}}^{\otimes n}$ of the three-dimensional fundamental representations of the Hopf algebra $U_{q} s\ell(2|1)$, whenever $q$ is not a root of unity. Formulas for the decomposition of tensor products of any simple and projective $U_{q} s\ell(2|1)$-module with the generating modules $\mathbf{3}$ and $\mathbf{\overline{3}}$ are obtained. The centralizer of $U_{q} s\ell(2|1)$ on the chain is calculated. It is shown to be the quotient $\mathscr{X}_{m,n}$ of the quantum walled Brauer algebra. The structure of projective modules over $\mathscr{X}_{m,n}$ is written down explicitly. It is known that the walled Brauer algebras form an infinite tower. We have calculated the corresponding restriction functors on simple and projective modules over $\mathscr{X}_{m,n}$. This result forms a crucial step in decomposition of the mixed tensor product as a bimodule over $\mathscr{X}_{m,n}\boxtimes U_{q} s\ell(2|1)$. We give an explicit bimodule structure for all $m,n$.

Lattice W-algebras and logarithmic CFTs

This paper is part of an effort to gain further understanding of 2D Logarithmic Conformal Field Theories (LCFTs) by exploring their lattice regularizations. While all work so far has dealt with the Virasoro algebra (or the product of left and right Virasoro), the best known (although maybe not the most relevant physically) LCFTs in the continuum are characterized by a W-algebra symmetry, whose presence is powerful, but difficult to understand physically. We explore here the origin of this symmetry in the underlying lattice models. We consider U_q sl(2) XXZ spin chains for q a root of unity, and argue that the centralizer of the "small" quantum group goes over the W-algebra in the continuum limit. We justify this identification by representation theoretic arguments, and give, in particular, lattice versions of the W-algebra generators. In the case q=i, which corresponds to symplectic fermions at central charge c=-2, we provide a full analysis of the scaling limit of the lattice Virasoro and W generators, and show in details how the corresponding continuum Virasoro and W-algebras are obtained. Striking similarities between the lattice W algebra and the Onsager algebra are observed in this case.

Logarithmic ^sl(2) CFT models from Nichols algebras. 1

We construct chiral algebras that centralize rank-two Nichols algebras with at least one fermionic generator. This gives "logarithmic" W-algebra extensions of a fractional-level ^sl(2) algebra. We discuss crucial aspects of the emerging general relation between Nichols algebras and logarithmic CFT models: (i) the extra input, beyond the Nichols algebra proper, needed to uniquely specify a conformal model; (ii) a relation between the CFT counterparts of Nichols algebras connected by Weyl groupoid maps; and (iii) the common double bosonization U(X) of such Nichols algebras. For an extended chiral algebra, candidates for its simple modules that are counterparts of the U(X) simple modules are proposed, as a first step toward a functorial relation between U(X) and W-algebra representation categories.

The Nichols algebra of screenings

Two related constructions are associated with screening operators in models of two-dimensional conformal field theory. One is a local system constructed in terms of the braided vector space X spanned by the screening species in a given CFT model and the space of vertex operators Y and the other is the Nichols algebra B(X) and the category of its Yetter--Drinfeld modules, which we propose as an algebraic counterpart, in a "braided" version of the Kazhdan--Lusztig duality, of the representation category of vertex-operator algebras realized in logarithmic CFT models.

Kazhdan-Lusztig equivalence and fusion of Kac modules in Virasoro logarithmic models

The subject of our study is the Kazhdan-Lusztig (KL) equivalence in the context of a one-parameter family of logarithmic CFTs based on Virasoro symmetry with the (1,p) central charge. All finite-dimensional indecomposable modules of the KL-dual quantum group - the "full" Lusztig quantum sl(2) at the root of unity - are explicitly described. These are exhausted by projective modules and four series of modules that have a functorial correspondence with any quotient or a submodule of Feigin-Fuchs modules over the Virasoro algebra. Our main result includes calculation of tensor products of any pair of the indecomposable modules. Based on the Kazhdan-Lusztig equivalence between quantum groups and vertex-operator algebras, fusion rules of Kac modules over the Virasoro algebra in the (1,p) LCFT models are conjectured.

Massless Poincare modules and gauge invariant equations

Starting with an indecomposable Poincare module M_0 induced from a given irreducible Lorentz module we construct a free Poincare invariant gauge theory defined on the Minkowski space. The space of its gauge inequivalent solutions coincides with (in general, is closely related to) the starting point module M_0. We show that for a class of indecomposable Poincare modules the resulting theory is a Lagrangian gauge theory of the mixed-symmetry higher spin fields. The procedure is based on constructing the parent formulation of the theory. The Labastida formulation and the unfolded description of the mixed symmetry fields are reproduced through the appropriate reductions of the parent formulation. As an independent check we show that in the momentum representation the solutions form a unitary irreducible Poincare module determined by the respective module of the Wigner little group.

Radford, Drinfeld, and Cardy boundary states in (1,p) logarithmic conformal field models

We introduce p-1 pseudocharacters in the space of (1,p) model vacuum torus amplitudes to complete the distinguished basis in the 2p-dimensional fusion algebra to a basis in the whole (3p-1)-dimensional space of torus amplitudes, and the structure constants in this basis are integer numbers. We obtain a generalized Verlinde-formula that gives these structure constants. In the context of theories with boundaries, we identify the space of vacuum torus amplitudes with the space of Ishibashi states. Then, we propose 3p-1 boundary states satisfying the Cardy condition.

Lusztig limit of quantum sl(2) at root of unity and fusion of (1,p) Virasoro logarithmic minimal models

We introduce a Kazhdan--Lusztig-dual quantum group for (1,p) Virasoro logarithmic minimal models as the Lusztig limit of the quantum sl(2) at pth root of unity and show that this limit is a Hopf algebra. We calculate tensor products of irreducible and projective representations of the quantum group and show that these tensor products coincide with the fusion of irreducible and logarithmic modules in the (1,p) Virasoro logarithmic minimal models.

Characters of coinvariants in (1,p) logarithmic models

We investigate induced modules of doublet algebra in (1,p) logarithmic models. We give fermionic formulas for the characters of induced modules and coinvariants with respect to different subalgebras calculated in the irreducible modules. The characters of coinvariants give multiplicities of projective modules in fusion of induced modules.

Unfolded form of conformal equations in M dimensions and o(M+2)-modules

A constructive procedure is proposed for formulation of linear differential equations invariant under global symmetry transformations forming a semi-simple Lie algebra f. Under certain conditions f-invariant systems of differential equations are shown to be associated with f-modules that are integrable with respect to some parabolic subalgebra of f. The suggested construction is motivated by the unfolded formulation of dynamical equations developed in the higher spin gauge theory and provides a starting point for generalization to the nonlinear case. It is applied to the conformal algebra o(M,2) to classify all linear conformally invariant differential equations in Minkowski space. Numerous examples of conformal equations are discussed from this perspective.

Nonsemisimple Fusion Algebras and the Verlinde Formula

We find a nonsemisimple fusion algebra F_p associated with each (1,p) Virasoro model. We present a nonsemisimple generalization of the Verlinde formula which allows us to derive F_p from modular transformations of characters.

Logarithmic Conformal Field Theories via Logarithmic Deformations

We construct logarithmic conformal field theories starting from an ordinary conformal field theory -- with a chiral algebra C and the corresponding space of states V -- via a two-step construction: i) deforming the chiral algebra representation on V\tensor End K[[z,1/z]], where K is an auxiliary finite-dimensional vector space, and ii) extending C by operators corresponding to the endomorphisms End K. For K=C^2, with End K being the two-dimensional Clifford algebra, our construction results in extending C by an operator that can be thought of as \partial^{-1}E, where \oint E is a fermionic screening. This covers the (2,p) Virasoro minimal models as well as the sl(2) WZW theory.

Coinvariants for Lattice VOAs and q-Supernomial Coefficients

We propose an alternative definition of q-supernomial coefficients as characters of coinvariants for one dimensional lattice vertex operator algebras. This gives a new formula for q-supernomial coefficients. Along the way we prove that the spaces of coinvariants form a bundle over the configuration space of complex points (the configuration space includes diagonals).

BRST Formalism and Zero Locus Reduction

In the BRST quantization of gauge theories, the zero locus $Z_Q$ of the BRST differential $Q$ carries an (anti)bracket whose parity is opposite to that of the fundamental bracket. We show that the on-shell BFV/BV gauge symmetries are in a 1:1 correspondence with Hamiltonian vector fields on $Z_Q$, and observables of the BRST theory are in a 1:1 correspondence with characteristic functions of the bracket on $Z_Q$. By reduction to the zero locus, we obtain relations between bracket operations and differentials arising in different complexes (the Gerstenhaber, Schouten, Berezin-Kirillov, and Sklyanin brackets); the equation ensuring the existence of a nilpotent vector field on the reduced manifold can be the classical Yang-Baxter equation. We also generalize our constructions to the bi-QP-manifolds which from the BRST theory viewpoint corresponds to the BRST-anti-BRST-symmetric quantization.
