Interpolation between Sudakov and BFKL rapidity evolutions for TMD factorization at small $x$

Within the framework of rapidity-only small-$x$ TMD factorization, the evolution with respect to the rapidity cutoff is initially governed by Sudakov double logarithms and subsequently by BFKL/BK single logarithms. The evolution equation proposed in this paper correctly reproduces both the Sudakov and BFKL limits, while providing a consistent interpolation between these two regimes.

Next-to-next-to-leading power corrections to unpolarized Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering

Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering (SIDIS) is a key tool for exploring the three-dimensional structure of the nucleon through Transverse Momentum Dependent parton distributions and fragmentation functions. While leading-power contributions to the SIDIS cross-section are well established, next-to-leading (NLP) of order $1/Q$ and next-to-next-to-leading power (NNLP) corrections of order $1/Q^2$ to the hadronic tensor have only recently begun to be systematically investigated. These corrections are essential for the reliable phenomenology and interpretation of modern high-precision data. In recent papers by one of the authors, NNLP corrections to Drell-Yan process were derived using rapidity factorization formalism. In the present work we extend this approach to SIDIS and obtain analytic expressions for the unpolarized structure functions. We derive NNLP corrections that include convolutions of unpolarized distributions, $f_1$, with unpolarized fragmentation functions, $D_1$, and Boer-Mulders functions, $h_1^\perp$, with Collins fragmentation functions, $H_1^\perp$. We compare our results with previous formulations, provide numerical studies, confront our predictions with HERMES and COMPASS measurements, and present predictions for future experiments at Jefferson Lab and the Electron-Ion Collider.

Background-field method and QCD factorization

One method for deriving a factorization for QCD processes is to use successive integration over fields in the functional integral. In this approach, we separate the fields into two categories: dynamical fields with momenta above a relevant cutoff, and background fields with momenta below the cutoff. The dynamical fields are then integrated out in the background of the low-momentum background fields. This strategy works well at tree level, allowing us to quickly derive QCD factorization formulas at leading order. However, to extend the approach to higher loops, it is necessary to rigorously define the functional integral over dynamical fields in an arbitrary background field. This framework was carefully developed for the calculation of the effective action in a background field at the two-loop level in the classic paper by Abbott [1]. Building on this work, I specify the renormalized background-field Lagrangian and define the notion of the quantum average of an operator in a background field, consistent with the ``separation of scales'' scheme mentioned earlier. As examples, I discuss the evolution of the twist-2 gluon light-ray operator and the one-loop gluon propagator in a background field near the light cone.

Conformal BK equation at QCD Wilson-Fisher point

High-energy scattering in pQCD in the Regge limit is described by the evolution of Wilson lines governed by the BK equation. In the leading order, the BK equation is conformally invariant and the eigenfunctions of the linearized BFKL equation are powers. It is a common belief that at $d\neq 4$ the BFKL equation is useless since unlike $d=4$ case it cannot be solved by usual methods. However, we demonstrate that at critical Wilson-Fisher point of QCD the relevant part of NLO BK restores the conformal invariance so the solutions are again powers. As a check of our approach to high-energy amplitudes at the Wilson-Fisher point, we calculate the anomalous dimensions of twist-2 light-ray operators in the Regge limit $j\rightarrow 1$.}

Rapidity-only TMD factorization at one loop

Typically, a production of a particle with a small transverse momentum in hadron-hadron collisions is described by CSS-based TMD factorization at moderate Bjorken $x_B\sim 1$ and by $k_T$-factorization at small $x_B$. A uniform description valid for all $x_B$ is provided by rapidity-only TMD factorization developed in a series of recent papers at the tree level. In this paper the rapidity-only TMD factorization for particle production by gluon fusion is extended to the one-loop level.

Rapidity evolution of TMDs with running coupling

The scale of a coupling constant for rapidity-only evolution of transverse-momentum dependent (TMD) operators in the Sudakov kinematic region is calculated using the Brodsky-Lepage-Mackenzie (BLM) optimal scale setting. The effective argument of a coupling constant is halfway in the logarithmical scale between the transverse momentum and energy of TMD distribution. The resulting rapidity-only evolution equation is solved for quark and gluon TMDs.

Polarized Gluon Pseudodistributions at Short Distances

We formulate the basic points of the pseudo-PDF approach to the lattice calculation of polarized gluon PDFs. We present the results of our calculations of the one-loop corrections for the bilocal $G_{μα}(z) \widetilde G_{λβ}(0)$ correlator of gluonic fields. Expressions are given for a general situation when all four indices are arbitrary, and also for specific combinations of indices corresponding to three matrix elements that contain the twist-2 invariant amplitude related to the polarized PDF. We study the evolution properties of these matrix elements, and derive matching relations between Euclidean and light-cone Ioffe-time distributions. These relations are necessary for extraction of the polarized gluon distributions from the lattice data.

Short-Distance Structure of Unpolarized Gluon Pseudodistributions

We present the results that form the basis for calculations of the unpolarized gluon parton distributions (PDFs) using the pseudo-PDF approach. We give the results for the most complicated box diagram both for gluon bilocal operators with arbitrary indices, and for combinations of indices corresponding to three matrix elements that are most convenient to extract the twist-2 invariant amplitude. We also present detailed results for the gluon-quark transition diagram. The additional results for the box diagram and the gluon-quark contribution may be used for extractions of the gluon PDF from different matrix elements, with a possible cross-check of the results obtained in this way.

Drell-Yan angular lepton distributions at small $x$ from TMD factorization

The Drell-Yan process is studied in the framework of TMD factorization in the Sudakov region $s\gg Q^2\gg q_\perp^2$ corresponding to recent LHC experiments with $Q^2$ of order of mass of Z-boson and transverse momentum of DY pair $\sim$ few tens GeV. The DY hadronic tensors are expressed in terms of quark and quark-gluon TMDs with ${1\over Q^2}$ and ${1\over N_c^2}$ accuracy. It is demonstrated that in the leading order in $N_c$ the higher-twist quark-quark-gluon TMDs reduce to leading-twist TMDs due to QCD equation of motion. The resulting hadronic tensors depend on two leading-twist TMDs: $f_1$ responsible for total DY cross section, and Boer-Mulders function $h_1^\perp$. The corresponding qualitative and semi-quantitative predictions seem to agree with LHC data on five angular coefficients $A_0-A_4$ of DY pair production. The remaining three coefficients $A_5-A_7$ are determined by quark-quark-gluon TMDs multiplied by extra ${1\over N_c}$ so they appear to be relatively small in accordance with LHC results.

Gluon Pseudo-Distributions at Short Distances: Forward Case

We present the results that are necessary in the ongoing lattice calculations of the gluon parton distribution functions (PDFs) within the pseudo-PDF approach. We give a classification of possible two-gluon correlator functions and identify those that contain the invariant amplitude determining the gluon PDF in the light-cone $z^2 \to 0$ limit. One-loop calculations have been performed in the coordinate representation and in an explicitly gauge-invariant form. We made an effort to separate ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) sources of the $\ln (-z^2)$-dependence at short distances $z^2$. The UV terms cancel in the reduced Ioffe-time distribution (ITD), and we obtain the matching relation between the reduced ITD and the light-cone ITD. Using a kernel form, we get a direct connection between lattice data for the reduced ITD and the normalized gluon PDF. We also show that our results may be used for a rather straightforward calculation of the one-loop matching relations for quasi-PDFs.

Gauge-invariant TMD factorization for Drell-Yan hadronic tensor at small x

The Drell-Yan hadronic tensor for electromagnetic (EM) current is calculated in the Sudakov region $s\gg Q^2\gg q_\perp^2$ with ${1\over Q^2}$ accuracy, first at the tree level and then with the double-log accuracy. It is demonstrated that in the leading order in $N_c$ the higher-twist quark-quark-gluon TMDs reduce to leading-twist TMDs due to QCD equation of motion. The resulting tensor for unpolarized hadrons is EM gauge-invariant and depends on two leading-twist TMDs: $f_1$ responsible for total DY cross section, and Boer-Mulders function $h_1^\perp$. The order-of-magnitude estimates of angular distributions for DY process seem to agree with LHC results at corresponding kinematics.

Structure constants of twist-two light-ray operators in the triple Regge limit

The structure constants of twist-two operators with spin $j$ in the BFKL limit $g^2\rightarrow 0, j\rightarrow 1$ but ${g^2\over j-1}\sim 1$ are determined from the calculation of the three-point correlator of twist-two light-ray operators in the triple Regge limit. It is well known that the anomalous dimensions of twist-two operators in this limit are determined by the BFKL intercept. Similarly, the obtained structure constants are determined by an analytic function of three BFKL intercepts.
