Exact surface energies and boundary excitations of the Izergin-Korepin model with generic boundary fields

The Izergin-Korepin model is an integrable model with the simplest twisted quantum affine algebra $U_q(A_2^{(2)})$ symmetry. Applying the $t-W$ method, we derive the homogeneous zero roots Bethe ansatz equations and the corresponding zero root patterns of the Izergin-Korepin model with generic integrable boundaries. Based on these results, we analytically compute the surface energies and boundary excitations in different regimes of boundary parameters of the model. It is shown that in some regimes, correlation effect appears between two boundary fields.

Exact physical quantities of the $D_2^{(2)}$ spin chain model with generic open boundary conditions

We study the quantum integrable spin chain model associated with the twisted $D_2^{(2)}$ algebra (or simply the $D_2^{(2)}$ model) under generic open boundary conditions. The Hamiltonian of this model can be factorized into the sum of two staggered XXZ spin chains. Applying the $t$-$W$ method, we derive the homogeneous Bethe ansatz equations for the zeros of the transfer matrix eigenvalues and the patterns of the corresponding zeros of the staggered XXZ spin chain with generic integrable boundaries. Based on these results, we analytically compute the surface energies and excitation energies of the $D_2^{(2)}$ model in different regimes of boundary parameters.

Polynomial deformations of $sl(2)$ and unified algebraic framework for solutions of a class of spin models

We introduce novel polynomial deformations of the Lie algebra $sl(2)$. We construct their finite-dimensional irreducible representations and the corresponding differential operator realizations. We apply our results to a class of spin models with hidden polynomial algebra symmetry and obtain the closed-form expressions for their energies and wave functions by means of the Bethe ansatz method. The general framework enables us to give an unified algebraic and analytic treatment for three interesting spin models with hidden cubic algebra symmetry: the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model, the molecular asymmetric rigid rotor, and the two-axis countertwisting squeezing model. We provide analytic and numerical insights into the structures of the roots of the Bethe ansatz equations (i.e. the so-called Bethe roots) of these models. We give descriptions of the roots on the spheres using the inverse stereographic projection. The changes in nature and pattern of the Bethe roots on the spheres indicate the existence of different phases of the models. We also present the fidelity and derivatives of the ground-state energies (with respect to model parameters) of the models. The results indicate the presence of critical points and phase transitions of the models. In the appendix, we show that, unlike the so-called Bender-Dunne polynomials, the set of polynomials in the energy $E$, $P_\ell(E)$, corresponding to each of the three spin models has two critical polynomials whose zeros give the quasi-exact energy eigenvalues of the model. Such types of polynomials seem new.

Algebraic structures and Hamiltonians from the equivalence classes of 2D conformal algebras

The construction of superintegrable systems based on Lie algebras and their universal enveloping algebras has been widely studied over the past decades. However, most constructions rely on explicit differential operator realisations and Marsden-Weinstein reductions. In this paper, we develop an algebraic approach based on the subalgebras of the 2D conformal algebra $\mathfrak{c}(2)$. This allows us to classify the centralisers of the enveloping algebra of the conformal algebra and construct the corresponding Hamiltonians with integrals in algebraic form. It is found that the symmetry algebras underlying these algebraic Hamiltonians are six-dimensional quadratic algebras. The Berezin brackets and commutation relations of the quadratic algebraic structures are closed without relying on explicit realisations or representations. We also give the Casimir invariants of the symmetry algebras. Our approach provides algebraic perspectives for the recent work by Fordy and Huang on the construction of superintegrable systems in the Darboux spaces.

Polynomial algebra from the Lie algebra reduction chain $\mathfrak{su}(4) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$: The supermultiplet model

The supermultiplet model, based on the reduction chain $\mathfrak{su}(4) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$, is revisited through the lens of commutants within universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras. From this analysis, a collection of twenty polynomials up to degree nine emerges from the commutant associated with the $\mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$ subalgebra. This study is conducted in the Poisson (commutative) framework using the Lie-Poisson bracket associated with the dual of the Lie algebra under consideration. As the main result, we obtain the polynomial Poisson algebra generated by these twenty linearly independent and indecomposable polynomials, with five elements being central. This incorporates polynomial expansions up to degree seventeen in the Lie algebra generators. We further discuss additional algebraic relations among these polynomials, explicitly detailing some of the lower-order ones. As a byproduct of these results, we also show that the recently introduced 'grading method' turns out to be essential for deriving the Poisson bracket relations when the degree of the expansions becomes so high that standard approaches are no longer applicable, due to computational limitations. These findings represent a further step toward the systematic exploration of polynomial algebras relevant to nuclear models.

On the construction of polynomial Poisson algebras: a novel grading approach

In this work, we refine recent results on the explicit construction of polynomial algebras associated with commutants of subalgebras in enveloping algebras of Lie algebras by considering an additional grading with respect to the subalgebra. It is shown that such an approach simplifies and systematizes the explicit derivation of the Lie--Poisson brackets of elements in the commutant, and several fundamental properties of the grading are given. The procedure is illustrated by revisiting three relevant reduction chains associated with the rank-two complex simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{C})$. Specifically, we analyze the reduction chains $\mathfrak{so}(3) \subset \mathfrak{su}(3)$, corresponding to the Elliott model in nuclear physics, the chain $\mathfrak{o}(3) \subset \mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{C})$ associated with the decomposition of the enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{C})$ as a sum of modules, and the reduction chain $\mathfrak{h} \subset \mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{C})$ connected to the Racah algebra $R(3)$. In addition, a description of the classification of the centralizer with respect to the Cartan subalgebra $\mathfrak{h}$ associated with the classical series $A_n$ in connection with its root system is reconsidered. As an illustration of the procedure, the case of $S(A_3)^\mathfrak{h}$ is considered in detail, which is connected with the rank-two Racah algebra for specific realizations of the generators as vector fields. This case has attracted interest with regard to orthogonal polynomials.

Stäckel transform, coupling constant metamorphosis and algebraization of quasi-exactly solvable systems

We generalize the notions of the Stäckel transform and the coupling constant metamorphosis to quasi-exactly solvable systems. We discover that for a variety of one-dimensional and separable multidimensional quasi-exactly solvable systems, their $sl(2)$ algebraizations can only be achieved via coupling constant metamorphosis after appropriate Stäckel transformations. This discovery has interesting applications, allowing us to derive algebraizations and energies for a wide class of quasi-exactly solvable systems, such as Hooke's atoms in magnetic fields and Newtonian cosmology. The approach of coupling constant metamorphosis was successfully applied previously in the context of exactly solvable, integrable and superintegrable systems. To our knowledge, the present work is the first to apply the idea and approach in the context of quasi-exactly solvable systems.

On Haantjes tensors for second-order superintegrable systems

The vanishing of the Haantjes tensor is an important property that has been linked, for instance, to the existence of separation coordinates and the integrability of systems of hydrodynamic type. We discuss the vanishing of the Haantjes tensor for operator fields that admit a large number of so-called conservation laws. In particular, we investigate Haantjes-zero Killing tensor fields that are associated with second-order superintegrable systems.

T-W relation and free energy of the antiperiodic XXZ chain with η=iπ/3 at a finite temperature

We study the thermodynamics of the antiperiodic XXZ chain with anisotropy parameter η=iπ/3 by means of the t-W method. We parameterize the eigenvalues of both the transfer matrix and the corresponding fused transfer matrix by their zero points instead of Bethe roots. Based on the patterns of the zero points distribution and the reconstructed entropy, we obtain the nonlinear integral equations (NLIEs) describing the thermodynamics of the model and compute its free energy at a finite temperature.

Cubic algebras, induced representations and general solution of the exceptional Laguerre equation $X_1$

We consider the case of exceptional Laguerre polynomials $X_1$ of type I, II and III, their ordinary differential equations and the problem of finding general solution beside the polynomial part. We will develop an algebraic approach based on the Schrodinger form of the problem and associate representations of the underlying spectrum generating algebra. We use the Darboux-Crum transformation to construct ladder operators of fourth order for the case of the exceptional Laguerre polynomials $X_1$ of type I, II and III. We then obtain all zero modes for the lowering and raising operators. We construct the induced representation for the linearly independent solutions, including the polynomial states. Those states forming the general solution are important non only in the construction of wider set of physical states satisfying different boundary conditions, but also in context of getting isospectral deformations. Our approach, allows to provide a completely algebraic construction of the two linearly independent solutions of the ordinary differential equation of the exceptional orthogonal polynomials of Laguerre type $X_1$ ( case I, II and III). The analogue of Rodrigues formulas for the general solution are constructed. The set of finite states from which the other states can be obtained algebraically is not unique but the vanishing arrow and diagonal arrow from the diagram of the 2-chain representations can be used to obtain minimal sets. These Rodrigues formulas are then exploited, not only to construct all the states (polynomial and non-polynomial), in a purely algebraic way, but also to obtain coefficients from the action of the ladder operators also in an algebraic manner. Those results are established via higher commutation relations related to the cubic Heisenberg Weyl algebra.

Representations of quadratic Heisenberg-Weyl algebras and polynomials in the fourth Painlevé transcendent

We provide new insights into the solvability property of an Hamiltonian involving of the fourth Painlevé transcendent and its derivatives. This Hamiltonian is third order shape invariant and can also be interpreted within the context of second supersymmetric quantum mechanics. In addition, this Hamiltonian admits third order lowering and raising operators. We will consider the case when this Hamiltonian is irreducible i.e. when no special solutions exist for given parameters $α$ and $β$ of the fourth Painlevé transcendent $P_{IV}(x,α,β)$. This means that the Hamiltonian does not admit a potential in terms of rational functions ( or hypergeometric type of special functions ) for those parameters. In such irreducible case, the ladder operators are involving the fourth Painlevé transcendent and its derivative. An important case for which this occurs is when the second parameter (i.e. $β$) of the fourth Painlevé transcendent $P_{IV}(x,α,β)$ is strictly positive i.e. $β>0$. This Hamiltonian has been studied for all hierarchies of rational solutions that comes in three families connected to the generalised Hermite and Okamoto polynomials. The explicit form of ladder, the associated wavefunctions involving exceptional orthogonal polynomials and recurrence relations were also completed described. Here, we develop a description of the induced representations based on various commutator identities for highest and lowest weight type representations for the irreducible case. We also provide for such representations new formula concerning the explicit form of the related excited states from point of view of the Schrodinger equation as two variables polynomials that involve the fourth Painlevé transcendent and its derivative.

Superintegrability and Deformed Oscillator Realizations of Quantum TTW Hamiltonians on Constant-Curvature Manifolds and with Reflections in a Plane

We extend the method for constructing symmetry operators of higher order for two-dimensional quantum Hamiltonians by Kalnins, Kress and Miller (2010). This expansion method expresses the integral in a finite power series in terms of lower degree integrals so as to exhibit it as a first-order differential operators. One advantage of this approach is that it does not require the a priori knowledge of the explicit eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonian nor the action of their raising and lowering operators as in their recurrence approach (2011). We obtain insight into the two-dimensional Hamiltonians of radial oscillator type with general second-order differential operators for the angular variable. We then re-examine the Hamiltonian of Tremblay, Turbiner and Winternitz (2009) as well as a deformation discovered by Post, Vinet and Zhedanov (2011) which possesses reflection operators. We will extend the analysis to spaces of constant curvature. We present explicit formulas for the integrals and the symmetry algebra, the Casimir invariant and oscillator realisations with finite-dimensional irreps which fill a gap in the literature.

A Casimir operator for a Calogero $W$ algebra

We investigate the nonlinear algebra $W_3$ generated by the 9 functionally independent permutation-symmetric operators in the three-particle rational quantum Calogero model. Decoupling the center of mass, we pass to a smaller algebra $W'_3$ generated by 7 operators, which fall into a spin-$1$ and a spin-$\frac32$ representation of the conformal $sl(2)$ subalgebra. The commutators of the spin-$\frac32$ generators with each other are quadratic in the spin-$1$ generators, with a central term depending on the Calogero coupling. One expects this algebra to feature three Casimir operators, and we construct the lowest one explicitly in terms of Weyl-ordered products of the 7 generators. It is a polynomial of degree 6 in these generators, with coefficients being up to quartic in $\hbar$ and quadratic polynomials in the Calogero coupling $\hbar^2g(g{-}1)$. Putting back the center of mass, our Casimir operator for $W_3$ is a degree-9 polynomial in the 9 generators. The computations require the evaluation of nested Weyl orderings. The classical and free-particle limits are also given. Our scheme can be extended to any finite number $N$ of Calogero particles and the corresponding nonlinear algebras $W_N$ and $W'_N$.

Root patterns and exact surface energy of the spin-1 Heisenberg model with generic open boundaries

We investigate the thermodynamic limit and exact surface energy of the isotropic spin-1 Heisenberg chain with integrable generic open boundary conditions by a novel Bethe ansatz method. We obtain the homogeneous Bethe ansatz equations for the zero roots of the transfer matrix. Based on the patterns of the zero roots, we analytical calculate the densities of zero roots and the surface energies of the model in all regimes of the boundary parameters.

Polynomial algebras from Lie algebra reduction chains $\mathfrak{g} \supset \mathfrak{g}'$

We reexamine different examples of reduction chains $\mathfrak{g} \supset \mathfrak{g}'$ of Lie algebras in order to show how the polynomials determining the commutant with respect to the subalgebra $\mathfrak{g}'$ leads to polynomial deformations of Lie algebras. These polynomial algebras have already been observed in various contexts, such as in the framework of superintegrable systems. Two relevant chains extensively studied in Nuclear Physics, namely the Elliott chain $\mathfrak{su}(3) \supset \mathfrak{so}(3)$ and the chain $\mathfrak{so}(5) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{u}(1)$ related to the Seniority model, are analyzed in detail from this perspective. We show that these two chains both lead to three-generator cubic polynomial algebras, a result that paves the way for a more systematic investigation of nuclear models in relation to polynomial structures arising from reduction chains. In order to show that the procedure is not restricted to semisimple algebras, we also study the chain $\hat{S}(3) \supset \mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{R}) \times \mathfrak{so}(2)$ involving the centrally-extended Schr{ö}dinger algebra in $(3+1)$-dimensional space-time. The approach chosen to construct these polynomial algebras is based on the use of the Lie-Poisson bracket, so that all the results are presented in the Poisson (commutative) setting. The advantage of considering this approach {\it vs.} the enveloping algebras is emphasized, commenting on the main formal differences between the polynomial Poisson algebras and their noncommutative analogue. As an illustrative example of the latter, the three-generator cubic algebra associated to the Elliott chain is reformulated in the Lie algebraic (noncommutative) setting.

Bethe ansatz solutions and hidden $sl(2)$ algebraic structure for a class of quasi-exactly solvable systems

The construction of analytic solutions for quasi-exactly solvable systems is an interesting problem. We revisit a class of models for which the odd solutions were largely missed previously in the literature: the anharmonic oscillator, the singular anharmonic oscillator, the generalized quantum isotonic oscillator, non-polynomially deformed oscillator, and the Schrödinger system from the kink stability analysis of $ϕ^6$-type field theory. We present a systematic and unified treatment for the odd and even sectors of these models. We find generic closed-form expressions for constraints to the allowed model parameters for quasi-exact solvability, the corresponding energies and wavefunctions. We also make progress in the analysis of solutions to the Bethe ansatz equations in the spaces of model parameters and provide insight into the curves/surfaces of the allowed parameters in the parameter spaces. Most previous analyses in this aspect were on a case-by-case basis and restricted to the first excited states. We present analysis of the solutions (i.e. roots) of the Bethe ansatz equations for higher excited states (up to levels $n$=30 or 50). The shapes of the root distributions change drastically across different regions of model parameters, illustrating phenomena analogous to phase transition in context of integrable models. Furthermore, we also obtain the $sl(2)$ algebraization for the class of models in their respective even and odd sectors in a unified way.

On polynomial symmetry algebras underlying superintegrable systems in Darboux spaces

We review three different approaches to polynomial symmetry algebras underlying superintegrable systems in Darboux spaces. The first method consists of using deformed oscillator algebra to obtain finite-dimensional representations of quadratic algebras. This allow one to gain information on the spectrum of the superintegrable systems. The second method has similarities with the induced module construction approach in the context of Lie algebras and can be used to construct infinite dimensional representations of the symmetry algebras. Explicit construction of these representations is a non-trivial task due to the non-linearity of the polynomial algebras. This method allows the construction of states of the superintegrable systems beyond the reach of separation of variables. As a result, we are able to construct a large number of states in terms of Airy, Bessel and Whittaker functions which would be difficult to obtain in other ways. We also discuss the third approach which is based on the notion of commutants of subalgebras in the enveloping algebra of a Poisson algebra or a Lie algebra. This allows us to discover new superintegrable models in the Darboux spaces and to construct their integrals and symmetry algebras via polynomials in the enveloping algebras.

Special function models of indecomposable $sl(2)$ representations: The Laguerre Case

In this paper, we point out connections between certain types of indecomposable representations of $sl(2)$ and generalizations of well-known orthogonal polynomials. Those representations take the form of infinite dimensional chains of weight or generalised weight spaces, for which the Cartan generator acts in a diagonal way or via Jordan blocks. The other generators of the Lie algebras $sl(2)$ act as raising and lowering operators but are now allowed to relate the different chains as well. In addition, we construct generating functions, we calculate the action of the Casimir invariant and present relations to systems of non-homogeneous second-order coupled differential equations. We present different properties as higher-order linear differential equations for building blocks taking the form of one variable polynomials. We also present insight into the zeroes and recurrence relations.
