Acceleration of Convergence of Double Series for the Green's Function of the Helmholtz Equation in Polar Coordinates

The well-known expressions for the Green's functions for the Helmholtz equation in polar coordinates with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions are transformed. The slowly converging double series describing these Green's functions are reduced by means of successive subtraction of several auxiliary functions to series that converge much more rapidly. A method is given for constructing the auxiliary functions (the first one is identical with the Green's function of the Laplace equation) in the form of single series and in the form of closed expressions. Formulas are presented for summing series of the Fourier-Bessel and Dini type; they are required to implement the two steps of the procedure for accelerating convergence. The effectiveness of the functions constructed is illustrated by the numerical solution of the problem of the dispersion properties of a slotted line with a coaxial circular cylindrical screen.

The Behavior of the Electromagnetic Field Near the Edge of a Resistive Half-Plane

The present work is aimed at defining the behavior of the electromagnetic field near the edge of a resistive half-plane, taken separately, as well as in conjunction with a perfectly conducting half-plane. The efficiency of accounting for the established field behavior while finding the solution of boundary problems of electrodynamics is illustrated by computational results.

Equivalent boundary conditions for the electromagnetic field on the surface of a periodic grating of resistive strips

The present work is aimed at formulating equivalent boundary conditions for the electromagnetic field on the surface of a periodic grating of resistive strips valid for arbitrary incident fields. It is assumed that the period of the grating is much smaller than the wavelength. We obtain two-sided boundary conditions of impedance type that allow one to replace any flat grating of resistive strips with a plane of discontinuity of the electromagnetic field.

Determination of the Optimum Square Resistance of Absorbing Vanes of the Rotary Vane Attenuator

Dependence on the square resistance of the linear attenuation caused by an absorbing vane in a circular waveguide is investigated. The maximal attenuation is determined to be attained at the square resistance values in the range 130-150 $Ω$. Special constructions of impedance-matched low-reflectivity absorbing vanes are proposed and production-ready structural calculation are carried out.

Edge Conditions for the Junction of Two Resistive Half-Planes with Different Surface Impedances

This work presents an analysis of the behavior of an electromagnetic field near the common edge of two resistive half-planes with different surface impedances. Contrary to the case of a single resistive half-plane, in the case of the impedance junction, both electric and magnetic fields' transverse components simultaneously contain a logarithmic singularity. It is shown that a surface current density has a finite jump that is proportional to the difference between the inverse impedances.
