Concurring reduction schemes for Dirac structures

The notion of \emph{concurrence} was recently proposed as the natural compatibility relation between Dirac structures, generalizing the commutativity of two Poisson structures. We address the question of when a reduction scheme -- that is, a way to induce a Dirac structure on a quotient of a submanifold -- respects this relation. After characterizing the minimal scheme of \emph{Dirac reduction}, we prove that two concurring Dirac structures have concurring reductions whenever they share a common \emph{witness}, extending to Dirac geometry the reduction of the Marsden-Ra\cb{t}iu theorem. Two procedures for constructing such common witnesses are given, the second being the Dirac counterpart of Magri's original recipe in bihamiltonian geometry. Examples drawn from Hamiltonian actions, Dirac-Nijenhuis manifolds, and complex Dirac structures conclude the paper and illustrate our methods.

An involutivity theorem for a class of Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis manifolds

This note aims to continue our study about the applications of Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis geometry to the theory of classical completely integrable systems. More precisely, we will present new versions of the deformation and involutivity theorems, under the hypothesis that the closed 2-form triggering the deformation and the closed 3-form defining the Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis structure are factorized. These results will be supplemented by several examples of involutive Poisson quasi- Nijenhuis manifolds.

Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis manifolds, closed Toda lattices, and generalized recursion relations

We present two involutivity theorems in the context of Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis %(PqN) manifolds. The second one stems from recursion relations that generalize the so called Lenard-Magri relations on a bi-Hamiltonian manifold. We apply these results to the closed (or periodic) Toda lattices of type $A_n^{(1)}$, $C_n^{(1)}$, $A_{2n}^{(2)}$ and, for the ones of type $A^{(1)}_n$, we show how this geometrical setting relates to their bi-Hamiltonian representation and to their recursion relations.

What is the Magnus Expansion?

The Magnus expansion, introduced by Wilhelm Magnus in 1954, is an infinite Lie series employed to express solutions for first-order homogeneous linear differential equations involving a linear operator. Since its discovery it has evolved into a pivotal tool used across diverse disciplines, including physics, chemistry, and engineering. Over the past 25 years, the Magnus expansion has undergone significant mathematical developments which revealed an intricate interplay between algebra, combinatorics, and geometry. By emphasizing a modern perspectives based on the use of pre- and post-Lie algebras, we discuss the Magnus expansion from the viewpoint of the notion of crossed morphism.

A Dubrovin-Frobenius manifold structure of NLS type on the orbit space of $B_n$

Generalizing a construction presented in [3], we show that the orbit space of $B_2$ less the image of coordinate lines under the quotient map is equipped with two Dubrovin-Frobenius manifold structures which are related respectively to the defocusing and the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equations. Motivated by this example, we study the case of $B_n$ and we show that the defocusing case can be generalized to arbitrary $n$ leading to a Dubrovin-Frobenius manifold structure on the orbit space of the group. The construction is based on the existence of a non-degenerate and non-constant invariant bilinear form that plays the role of the Euclidean metric in the Dubrovin-Saito standard setting. Up to $n=4$ the prepotentials we get coincide with those associated with constrained KP equations discussed in [20].

Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis deformations of the canonical PN structure

We present a result which allows us to deform a Poisson-Nijenhuis manifold into a Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis manifold by means of a closed 2-form. Under an additional assumption, the deformed structure is also Poisson-Nijenhuis. We apply this result to show that the canonical Poisson-Nijenhuis structure on R^2n gives rise to both the Poisson-Nijenhuis structure of the open (or non periodic) n-particle Toda lattice, introduced by Das and Okubo [6], and the Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis structure of the closed (or periodic) n-particle Toda lattice, described in our recent work [7].

Post-Lie Algebras, Factorization Theorems and Isospectral-Flows

In these notes we review and further explore the Lie enveloping algebra of a post-Lie algebra. From a Hopf algebra point of view, one of the central results, which will be recalled in detail, is the existence of a second Hopf algebra structure. By comparing group-like elements in suitable completions of these two Hopf algebras, we derive a particular map which we dub post-Lie Magnus expansion. These results are then considered in the case of Semenov-Tian-Shansky's double Lie algebra, where a post-Lie algebra is defined in terms of solutions of modified classical Yang-Baxter equation. In this context, we prove a factorization theorem for group-like elements. An explicit exponential solution of the corresponding Lie bracket flow is presented, which is based on the aforementioned post-Lie Magnus expansion.

Post-Lie algebras and factorization theorems

In this note we further explore the properties of universal enveloping algebras associated to a post-Lie algebra. Emphasizing the role of the Magnus expansion, we analyze the properties of group like-elements belonging to (suitable completions) of those Hopf algebras. Of particular interest is the case of post-Lie algebras defined in terms of solutions of modified classical Yang-Baxter equations. In this setting we will study factorization properties of the aforementioned group-like elements.

Post-Lie Algebras and Isospectral Flows

In this paper we explore the Lie enveloping algebra of a post-Lie algebra derived from a classical $R$-matrix. An explicit exponential solution of the corresponding Lie bracket flow is presented. It is based on the solution of a post-Lie Magnus-type differential equation.

Nonabelian holomorphic Lie algebroid extensions

We classify nonabelian extensions of Lie algebroids in the holomorphic category. Moreover we study a spectral sequence associated to any such extension. This spectral sequence generalizes the Hochschild-Serre spectral sequence for Lie algebras to the holomorphic Lie algebroid setting. As an application, we show that the hypercohomology of the Atiyah algebroid of a line bundle has a natural Hodge structure.

G-Systems and Deformation of G-Actions On Rd

Given a (smooth) action of a Lie group G on Rd we construct a DGA whose Maurer-Cartan elements are in one to one correspondence with some class of defomations of the (induced) G-action on the ring of formal power series with coefficients in the ring of smooth functions on Rd. In the final part of this note we discuss the cohomological obstructions to the existence and to the uniqueness (in a sense to be clarified) of such deformations.

A Note on the Automorphism Group of the Bielawski-Pidstrygach Quiver

We show that there exists a morphism between a group $Γ^{\mathrm{alg}}$ introduced by G. Wilson and a quotient of the group of tame symplectic automorphisms of the path algebra of a quiver introduced by Bielawski and Pidstrygach. The latter is known to act transitively on the phase space $\mathcal{C}_{n,2}$ of the Gibbons-Hermsen integrable system of rank 2, and we prove that the subgroup generated by the image of $Γ^{\mathrm{alg}}$ together with a particular tame symplectic automorphism has the property that, for every pair of points of the regular and semisimple locus of $\mathcal{C}_{n,2}$, the subgroup contains an element sending the first point to the second.

Quantizations of Momentum Maps and G-Systems

In this note, we give an explicit formula for a family of deformation quantizations for the momentum map associated with the cotangent lift of a Lie group action on Rd. This family of quantizations is parametrized by the formal G-systems introduced by the authors in a previous paper and allows us to obtain classical invariant Hamiltonians that quantize without anomalies with respect to the quantizations of the action prescribed by the formal G-systems.

Quantization of (volume-preserving) actions on R^d

We associate a space of (formal) representations on the space of h-formal power series with coefficients in the space of smooth functions on Rd (which we call quantizations) with an action of a group on Rd by smooth diffeomorphisms. If the action is further volume preserving, these quantizations can be realized as unitary representations on square summable functions on Rd by bounded h-dependent Fourier integral operators, the formal case corresponding to the asymptotics in the limit h going to zero. We construct DGAs controlling these quantizations and prove existence and rigidity results for them.
